1gor Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 That looks promising with this wheel cinfiguration Quote
efferman Posted September 30, 2018 Author Posted September 30, 2018 Hopefully there is enough space for all the mechanics. Frontbumper revision to fix some stability problems Quote
1gor Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 My problem with detailed Cab is that they are to heavy at the front. I think there will be enough place with such wheelbase that you chose. One of reason that I switched to 1:15 scale is that I constantly lack one or two studs... Quote
efferman Posted September 30, 2018 Author Posted September 30, 2018 Indeed, these cab is heavy and on a 4x2 it is nearly to heavy, but on this wrecker the weight is a benefit. Quote
1gor Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Due to longer chassis weight could be evenly distributed what is good. But I still like shorter chassis on my mocs; perhaps in your case it is not such big deal since your models are motorised Quote
efferman Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 A new Day, new progress. Tomorrow it should be able to drive Quote
1gor Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Sometimes I envy you because due to my obligations I haven't touch my "projects" for about month. I can only enjoy looking others mocs... I'm looking forward to see virgin drive of your truck. BTW interesting combination of studless and studfull parts. Quote
efferman Posted October 2, 2018 Author Posted October 2, 2018 @I_Igor, Look without stability is useless. Turning circle seems ok Quote
1gor Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 I agree that stability is very important. IMHO it looks like front axles are to much separated, but it drives relatively smooth. Quote
efferman Posted October 2, 2018 Author Posted October 2, 2018 The scanias has the second axle not directly behind the first one. my idea for the front outriggers. Quote
1gor Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 That is similar kind for my idea for outriggers for my Unimog U4023 with crane. Question is just does it take to much space and will it be disproportional is will it fit scale? Quote
efferman Posted October 2, 2018 Author Posted October 2, 2018 When it fits in width, it will fit in scale Quote
1gor Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 That sounds good. You were right; second front axle is a bit distanced from first front axle Quote
1gor Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 I have one question, since you mostly build trucks...can this tire / rim combo be represented by LEGO 62.4 tire, or is it to obvious that LEGO tire has not enough low profile (I have used smaller image of Scania V8 due to EB posting image rules) Thanks Quote
efferman Posted October 2, 2018 Author Posted October 2, 2018 The 62 are not low profile enough Quote
1gor Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Just now, efferman said: The 62 are not low profile enough That crossed my mind... They are perfect for 1:16 scale (22.5” time has 585-590mm diameter...) Quote
efferman Posted October 3, 2018 Author Posted October 3, 2018 (edited) The width fits. Next step is Folding the stabilizers. edit: small roundabout preview of the sideline Edited October 3, 2018 by efferman Quote
Bartybum Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Looks awesome. Would love to see a video of how the mechanism works Quote

efferman Posted October 4, 2018 Author Posted October 4, 2018 (edited) @I_Igor, this would not work, look at this picture edit: the Forkbeam seems stable enough Edited October 4, 2018 by efferman Quote
1gor Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Correct me if I'm wrong, but from that image it looks like you use axle and not pin...and on image that I commented you use pin... Quote

efferman Posted October 5, 2018 Author Posted October 5, 2018 Today some parts arrived for the Wrecker Quote
