efferman Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 unfortunately there is no 4 wide steering wheel in lego. Quote
1gor Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 I know that is why my Unimog is 1:15 and not 1:16.5 like your models but still struggling with proper tire / wheel idea for that scale... Quote
efferman Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 That is an old problem. Tractor Unit or something different? Quote
1gor Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Honestly my goal (one day is to make TGS hook loader truck 6 X 2; I see it every day (model with cab color like set 42069), but whatever you decide I would like. I suppose that yellow mudguards will be dark bluish gray on physical model. This one is very nice base Quote
efferman Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 You should not bet any money for this Quote
1gor Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 I'm not trying...I have images on my phone that you post month ago and it is the same cab... Quote

efferman Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 Virtually the back is done, minus some minor details Quote
1gor Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 I thought that you will use linear actuator, but gear rack has longer "travelling"...half a year ago I have made with big linear actuator and at the top small actuator for tilting... Quote
efferman Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 Actuator is correct, gearrack is correct Quote
1gor Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 It looks very very nice. My inspiration is like this one https://www.mascus.com.au/transportation/used-hook-lift-trucks/man-tgx26-480/1lg05r6u.html But it would probably have white cab because I have to buy 4 additional model team 68.8 X 24 wheels (some 50€) and that mean not enough money for purple cab Quote
pagicence Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 (edited) Little late for the party, but you can always try this for a 4 studs steering wheel. Edited November 2, 2018 by pagicence Quote
1gor Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 (edited) This is not looking like real steering wheel but has 4 studs diameter ? Edited November 3, 2018 by I_Igor Quote
1gor Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 Today I had a chance to talk to an old friend who works as car and truck parts salesman and he gave me following info: Car steering wheels are 340-380 mm Tractors (modern like JCB Fastrac or Syn-trac...) have 380-420 mm steering wheel Trucks (Daf, Mercedes, M.A.N. Scania, Volvo...mostly European trucks) have 570-600mm steering wheel. Info is from his official parts catalog. I hope that this post could be useful for someone in future. Sorry Michael if I have misused your topic for something what you already know Quote
brickless_kiwi Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 Totally missed the party but Please I would really like once you have this finished a Scania T Cab please.. Quote
efferman Posted November 3, 2018 Author Posted November 3, 2018 (edited) @brickless_kiwi when its done The Hooklift is alive and a kg payload is possible too Edited November 3, 2018 by efferman Quote
efferman Posted November 4, 2018 Author Posted November 4, 2018 Rolling chassis, hopefully all missing parts arriving till next weekend. in two weeks is the next convention. Quote
1gor Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 At least this is more interesting than what we know about 2019 sets so far. I know what you are up to...I'm waiting several months for some modified plates to make fuel tank... Chassis looks very sturdy Quote
emielroumen Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) Great to see the progress and hope the Lego company is inspired by your printed components. Just one minor remark: belly shot, look at the connection of the 2 uni-joints, 1 needs to be rotated on the axle for a smoother drive train. Edited November 4, 2018 by emielroumen Typo Quote
1gor Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) From latest chassis images it looks (to me) that you use shocks on front axle like on first versions of 8860 set (box image) ? Edited November 4, 2018 by I_Igor Quote
efferman Posted November 4, 2018 Author Posted November 4, 2018 I am not sure what it means what your say Quote
1gor Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 That you use just springs and not complete Lego stock absorber assembly on front axle Quote
