SavaTheAggie Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 I apologize for digging up an old thread, but I didn't see it mentioned. I bought the viking chess set on sale this month, and noticed that the horns in the helmets were glued. Were they glued for yours as well? I personally don't have a problem with the glued figs as they are. I would have a problem if the figs were glued more, but as it is they are perfect, as this is a Chess set after all. This isn't a fig-pack, army builder, or anything else. Anyway, I was just curious to see if LEGO had changed something, or if the glued horns were simply omitted from the review. --Tony Quote
SuvieD Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 My horns and the flame pieces in the hilts were also glued. I am sure LEGO has reasons for it but the glue really ruins the whole LEGO quality aspect for me. A number of my pieces are disfigured due to the glue. Glue for the lose! Quote

I don't believe the horns were glued on mine, however I can't be sure. Sadly, I'm away from my bricks for another couple if weeks, but I'll definitely check and reply here (and shoot you a PM in case you've forgotten). Quick question, SuvieD, is the set you mentioned also new, or was it from near the launch of the set? I think I would've noticed if they were glued, and in fact think I remember readjusting some of the horns that had become twisted in shipping, but I don't know if that is just my imagination. ApophisV Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 New shield stickers!!! Never noticed them before, now I have to get this!!! >:-) although 39.99 USD is a bit too much in my opinion. Er, I hate to tell you, but if you thought 39.99 USD was bad...it's 49.99 USD Actually we pay even more, it's 49,99 Quote
Berry Syedow Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 The horns on the viking helmets have been glued in all three of the sets I've received so far, one set of which is from late 2006 and two that are from the recent clearance. I understand why the queen's torso needs to be glued, but the horns stay attached pretty well, so the glue just seems like a waste as well as an annoyance. I also had a mishap with one of the queens' arms. Some glue had managed to drip onto the socket of the arm (from the inside of the torso), so when I tried to move the arm, it completely detached from its socket. :-( I'm not going to bother asking for a replacement, though, because it's a pretty minor issue that can be resolved with a bricklink order. (With a bit of prodding I was able to remove the glued socket.) I just wish TLC used a type of glue that didn't melt the plastic (for those of us who like to take stuff apart ;-)) Quote
