Skrytsson Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 B-M-1C It is hard to achieve a circle-shape with Lego bricks. However, it is much more difficult to create a sphere. My latest MOC is a famous Swedish building: The Globe. Reference pictures for you who are not familiar with this building, are included at the end of this post. Please tell me what you think! This isn't really minifig-scale, as you probably really had figured out... This is the second "part" of Stockholm that I have built. The first thing I created was the Stockholm Metro. Here you are able to see the building techniques (click for a larger image). Reference images: Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Excellent micro-scale build 'Skrytsson', you packed as much detail into it as possible and made sure you kept it's shape true ! That shot with the train in the foreground is fantastic ! Brick On 'Skrytsson' ! Quote
Bayou Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 waouu ...great job you did ! On my mind, a globe is one of the most difficult part to do in lego, and you did it very well ! Quote
Cecilie Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Now that's an interesting technique for building a sphere in Lego! It looks really great . How sturdy is it? Quote
Skrytsson Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 Thank you for your comments! @McBuddha, are you a member at the Swedish Lego-forum Swebrick? Now that's an interesting technique for building a sphere in Lego! It looks really great . How sturdy is it? Thank you. I believe it is pretty sturdy: you can breath on it ( ) and you can touch it, carefully. However, I would not play with it since the fiber optic cables are very flexible and will probably jump off the U-clip they are attached to. Any more comments, anyone? Quote
Cecilie Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I believe it is pretty sturdy: you can breath on it ( ) In other words, sturdy enough . Quote
buddy Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Excellent MOC, it looks just like the real thing and I too like the technique you have used to create the globe effect and shape. ~buddy~ Quote

Hiawatha Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 (edited) That is quite the building to build ! It must have been challenging, and I see that you even added the windows on the globe. Great MOC ! Edited September 30, 2011 by Hiawatha Quote
