Many thanks for the detailed explanation Admiral Croissant, I will remember that for my next ship.

In representing the basic impression of a 18th century frigate she is doing a very, very decent job though, so I'd say: goal achieved! :pir-sweet:

In case you might be able to build her in real bricks some day; I'd be glad to see her and very sure she'd turn out a lot more detailed, since you apparently got the skills it takes!

Thanks! I hope to build her IRL too, at 2000 pieces the price should be manageable off Bricklink - I just need to cure my addiction to TLG sets first. :pir-tongue:

I agree with you on many counts about the ship.

In general I find LDD to be much more useful for blocking out rough shapes and designs rather than the intricate detailwork. Some "standard" decorations are not even possible in LDD due to how they rendered the brick - for example putting the "dragon wings" into headlight bricks like on the Vesta is not possible.

If you look closely at the LDD file, you will see I have built in the necessary bricks to tie in some basic string rigging such as the ladders up to the crows nest. However this is not possible to do in LDD as well.

First of all congrats on finishing her! By far not every good WIP on this forum ever gets finished :pir_laugh2:

Bring back the Superbe! :pir_laugh2:

What's her current status? She was looking great when you before you took her apart and I've been waiting for an update since!

I really love the result you could achieve with these digital programs. I was always thinking the stuff you can do with these programs is less than what you can do with real bricks, but still you managed to find great solutions and make the ship look very good. I'd love to see it in real bricks one day.
