...And then a colourful group of forestmen, as said before, but have the Forestmen be the villains.

Villains, Fighting, what happened to the peaceful days of Castle?

I agree with Fives the more I think about it. Originally I wanted a blue feather for the Falcon knight which I do still think would look really awesome. But just imagine a white feather atop the full black ensemble might be just the right amount of contrast he needs. I still like the blue color for the old faction, so if they did reintroduce them, I'd be happy with the black/white/blue or the black/white. But please not another green feather since we still have the dragons.

Also, I noticed some people were originally upset because they wanted another dragon knight instead of a new faction. The new faction is surprising to me, but I welcome it. But regarding the new knight with new barding vs a new dragon knight with potentially the same barding (which was easily acquired in 7187 for cheap), I'm much happier with the new barding. Granted, if they chose to do a new dragon knight with new dragon barding, I would welcome that too. But I much prefer this new knight idea. Also, since the lion knight barding was only acquired through 7947 for much more than 7187 I welcome another lion barding into my army.

If no other words to describe anything, I am excited.

After further review of the pictures, the weapon stand and the flags all involve green/black which to me are reminiscent of the dragons (instead of gold/green), but that probably means the new falcon faction would have green/black with a little white thrown in. I do prefer the new black/green flag combination compared to the green/gold combination.

I'm sick of Dragon Knights. As much as they are cool and are a great faction, I love this new guy. Also, I agree with you on the point of the Lion barding. I got the Dragon Tower set, but that only gives me one knight in my whole (yet rather small) Lion faction, while my Dragons have two (one with barding). If I get two of these, or if anyone gets two of these, it would really boost any Lion army by four soldiers and two knights. Also, yay for little stable boy feeding loaf of bread to a horse!

Black Falcons are back!! Oh my, no it is a dream come true, maybe this summer we get them as a new faction oh wow!! :wub_drool:

This set is epic, there are so many nice things about it! I love how they used brown frogs as legs for the table in the tower, brilliant!

However I would have liked to have seen blue or dark blue for the Black Falcon and not dark green, that is the dragon knights color. Also the Falcon Crest should have been on the barding the way it is, is nice but a little generic IMO. Finally some new animals or at least old animals with different prints would have been great. For example the horses could have been grey or with spots. Also some more peasants would have been good.

But overall I really like this set and it is a must buy.

So will this join on to the existing castle set?

That's a good question, I'll check my King's Castle when I get home....but a jousting arena wouldn't be so close to the castle used for defence of the kingdom would it ? :look:

I'm not so sure of that, Lego using that shield is pretty close to this....jousting.jpg

Well you are right and probably Lego too.

Nonetheless I would like a large shield for the Black Falcon.

I like the new triangle shield, but a larger oval shield would be neat to see too. Especially since we don't have any from the years past. But you do get 3 new triangle shields so that is really awesome in itself.

As in can the walls be connected? Yes and no. Both have the first and sixth brick as the connecting points, so it's technically possible without any modifications. But the walls of Kingdoms Joust are two bricks lower than the walls of King's Castle and of somewhat different and simpler style, so they may not look so good together.

Well, the Dragon Knights seem to be considered that bad guys, or "villains". But since the Forestmen usually are made out to be the good guys, why not make a "bad guy" version.

Which image shows the torso underneath Falcon knights armour? I can't seem to find this anywhere.

Personally, I think the Falcon knight would have looked good with a purple plume and tent. But that's just me - I think blue would be too reminiscent of the Crown knights, and purple would make the mysterious dark knight stand out more. Sadly the plume does not come in purple so I can't substitute it.

Yes, the Black Knight is usually a solitary figure in Medieval stories, so we do not need to have a whole faction.

And I agree with Albero-BEL, et al... If LEGO is reading this, they should just put the standard Castle theme on hiatus for a year and introduce just one or two waves of "CASTLE: ROMANS". That is all it would take. Everyone would be ecstatic if it was announced as a temporary shift.

As a bonus, we could also use it as a beautiful alternate location for the Wonder Woman and Thor minifigs in 2012, assuming that we will not get a fully-fledged Olympus set for Wonder Woman's Greek Mythological World, nor a fully-fledged Asgard set for Thor's Norse Universe. =(

KUDOS TO LEGO!! =)

Well, as the story goes, since Lions and Dragons are at war, it is not possible for the Dragons to be a part of the jousting tournament in honor of the Lions' king and lords.

Also, a nice touch with the mystery Black knight on the tournament, like in stories of knights and ladies (since the Lions lord looks like a criminal to me...)

I'm only seeing 2 falcon shields (one on the knight, one on the stand) unless people are looking at the doubled up set picture? A falcon squire boy or general soldier would have been nice, and I give up the tower/gate for a smaller structure and a drop in price more in line with the MMV, but all in all some great figs and a nice build so can't gripe too much (as much as we AFOLs like to :p).

The third shield is presummed to be on the other side of the jousting fence (the main picture shows the Lion shield). I think it shows up in some of the other pictures. So the Black Knight, the stands, and one of the fence in the middle.

First off, why is it that this picture of one complete set is not on the main page and first page of this thread? Don't get me wrong the doubled up tower looks great but the first thing I like to see with any new set is that linked picture of "everything in it".

Personally, I think the Falcon knight would have looked good with a purple plume and tent. But that's just me - I think blue would be too reminiscent of the Crown knights, and purple would make the mysterious dark knight stand out more. Sadly the plume does not come in purple so I can't substitute it.

I totally agree with this. We had blue/gold with the Crownies, we have red/gold and green/gold with the Lions and Dragons, the new Falcon would have been perfect with purple/gold. As it is I will give him a white plume and make his tent white and black. That will free up the green tent for a Dragon champion. I'll add a blue tent for a Crownie Champion and make an instant 4 way joust. I am actually glad they included the new Falcon even as is. A Dragon champion can be easily acquired in a $20 set but we probably would have never seen the Falcon champion otherwise. (Unless of course he is a herald for a new Falcon theme, but that would be something of a mixed blessing if they were in green like the Dragons. Once again purple would be perfect for that hypothetical possibility too. It also would contrast nicely with any potential new forestmen theme. If only.)

Does anyone have a complete set picture so we know what exactly were getting? It's pretty crappy that the first picture we see isn't even what were getting...

Let me clear something up, I am glad we are NOT getting just another dragon knight simply because you can buy multiple of that knight in a cheap set. I am really excited for seeing this new Falcon knight. I just wish it had a different under-armor uniform. And I am excited for getting another Lion knight since I only have one of those.

I do agree that another color would have worked better, be it white, blue, or the newly mentioned purple. All of those would be something new. I like that idea of purple/gold. But as it stands, I really like the dark green/black flag combination. But I don't like reusing dark green so soon since dragon knights are still present. But to state that means no other faction could ever have a similar color, when I'm sure in reality many factions would have similar coloring just like many countries have similar colors on their flags.

I don't own any Crown knights so I wouldn't think of them when I see dark blue plume for the Falcons. But I may have to buy a Crown barding and have a large joust competition. I have the original crusader barding and both black knight bardings, so it would be quite the tournament.

And I am not disappointed at all with what you get in the stand alone picture vs the two back-to-back. They both look great.

This is spectacular. I love it, my wallet weeps. My very first LEGO ever was 6060- Knight's Challenge. Makes this special for me.

As I said it is amazing, awesome and many other utterances, though I did envision a few other things.

This is what I had imagined.

More competitors:

It would have been nice to see at least 4 knights. Lions and Dragons of course, then the new Falcons and perhaps a New Forester or Wolfpack Knight. Each with his own squire.

I understand this alone puts it at 8 mini figs and four horses right there, but I'd pay a little extra for that.

More going on:

The joust is beautiful, but perhaps a tourney pit for the other weapons on foot, that would not be too many more pieces.

Civilians:

They are great, I love everything, but it would have been neat to see a grandstand and a vendor of some sort "Yak's meat, hot wine!" anyone?

Royalty:

It fits, seems right, not really much more I can say on them, perhaps the younger Lion as the Lions Champion, vying for the favor of the green dressed beauty?

This is gorgeous! Congratulations Lego on creating what looks to be another brilliant exclusive.

My one small criticism (biased comparison, actually): it's not quite as perfect as MMV...

But then, nothing ever would be. :classic:

Well done Lego. Top-notch set.:thumbup:
