Starwars4J Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Steve Irwin died earlier today, instantly from a poison barb through the chest while offshore making a documentary. Sadly, his wife is hiking through mountins, and still hasn't been notified. Mr. Irwin was a great man, who fought for the rights of animals, and the purity and sanctity of our world, against the corruption of the world. His death truly is a tragedy, and he will be missed. Please, a moment of silence?
Dino_Bot Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Shock. Shock. NO way this could have happened! A Stingray? Stingrays have barbs? is that like...umm...the tail? How could this have happened? How often do you hear of people being killed by stingrays? This is really sad. Animals owe him gratitude, for the work he did to better educate people on the fauna of this planet.
Lord Thrawn Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I guess they finally got him. He'll be missed.
captaintau Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 A Stingray? Stingrays have barbs? is that like...umm...the tail? How could this have happened? How often do you hear of people being killed by stingrays? The last recorded death from a stingray was 1906. Their poison isn't particularly bad, but the barb (on the tail) penetrated his heart. I only know all this from the news this morning.
Zane Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 It's weird, cuz when you see him on the TV, escaping stuff, it just makes me think he's virtually invincible. Huh.
DoubleT Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 He made great tv shows, and it was great to see his passion shine.... Respekt for what he has done for animals and nature.. Steve Irwin..... You will be missed
xwingyoda Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 What a SAD day this is :'-( This man earns our respect and a true Animal lover and defender legend is lost, really how sad !! I wish luck to his familly in those difficult times !! Our true "Crocodile Hunter" will be surely missed :'-( RIP mate. *yoda*
yoda601 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 This is terrible news; Steve Irwin was a living legend. I loved this guy's work and his dedication was inspiring. Rest in peace, Steve.
JoeMI6 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 It's awful for a man who has done so much good for the animal world to bow out like that. I just hope that he is remembered for all of his flamboyant contributions to society. Rest in Peace Steve Irwin.
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 4, 2006 Governor Posted September 4, 2006 Why is this such a shock? For someone who antagonised animals so much its a wonder something like this hadn't happened earlier.
Hobbes Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Why is this such a shock? I was wondering, too... For someone who antagonised animals so much its a wonder something like this hadn't happened earlier. Guess it was just a matter of time...
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 4, 2006 Governor Posted September 4, 2006 I thought it was inevitable...
DoubleT Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Well still a sad thing, and our best wishes goes to the family....
xwingyoda Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Tks guys to cut the bad humour jokes :-| Do have respect for the man for Pete's sake !! Edit: Here is such a medadtive quote from Steve: You know, I'm Australian, and we have got the worst sense of humor. We are cruel to each other. Amen to that Steve ;-) *yoda*
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 4, 2006 Governor Posted September 4, 2006 I'm deadly serious. If you antagonise animals as much as he did then it dramatically increases the probability of being injured or killed by one.
Jipay Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Well I don't think it's a lack fo respect. He surely was a great man, but as said, it was the logical end. Too bad that the cause of death itself is sort of silly in comparaison to what he faced. Still, the shows were excellent and I'm pretty sure he managed to create some vocations, which is good. And I'm pretty sure he's sort of happy to die like this instead of ending up in a crapy hospital for aged people.
DoubleT Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Phes dont you think we all know that??? As Yoda said atleast have the repekt, or just be nice and keep it to you self for this man honor.. Alot of People have worked with Animals, only a few is unlucky.. Lets continue this thread in good way okay? Edit: and yes agree Jipay, this is probaly the way he wanted to go..
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 4, 2006 Governor Posted September 4, 2006 Phes dont you think we all know that??? No, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it...
Asuka Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 As Yoda said atleast have the respekt, or just be nice and keep it to you self for this man honor..Lets continue this thread in good way okay? This is why i have a lot of respect for this man. This is for the honor i owe to him. QUOTE from Wikipedia: "Irwin believed in promoting environmentalism by sharing his excitement about the natural world rather than preaching to people. He was concerned with conservation of endangered animals and land clearing leading to loss of habitat. He considered conservation to be the most important part of his work: "I consider myself a wild-life warrior. My mission is to save the world's endangered species."[11] Irwin bought "large tracts of land" in Australia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the United States, which he described as "like national parks" and stressed the importance of people realising that they could each make a difference." But i also have a lot of respect for the liberty of opinion and i think we should not be forced to only speak well about the dead ones. I don
DoubleT Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 You are very right Asuka. But Steve Irwin have just passed away, so out of respekt one should wait alittle before looking at negativ things... Its not the law here, but the right thing to do :-)
Kikuichimonji Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Man, I didn't know the man was this huge. I was shocked when I read it this morning. Then again, he once said that if he were to be eaten by a crocodile during shooting, he'd want the crew to keep filming. Sad way to go but probably the way he wanted it. RIP.
KimT Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 R.I.P :'-( Steve Crocodile Hunter. Man he made the greatest documentaries...He'll be missed KimT
optimus-convoy Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 ... *sad* Rest in peace Crocodile Hunter.
Kahgarak Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I loved his Australian accent. He once was in a commercial for ''The Phone House''. RIP Steve Irwin. *sad*
