highlandcattle Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Took some pics of my town setup. It's a continuing WIP, the story of which can be seen in my ongoing Bricks and the City strip. I agree with Alex, it's interesting to see an (almost) complete new layout. It doesn't look all too bad. It is a good start for more, indeed. But a LEGO town/city does need some older sets, too, you just can't do without ;-) I like everything except for the construction tools. It all looks way out of proportion! Especially on this picture http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2034547 That truck is twice the size of a train! I only have the little shovel unit (I bought it today) and may get the streetsweeper sometime. everything else looks just way to big to fit in my city Quote

While I agree that City sets are almost too big now, in the case of the dump truck it's okay because it's supposed to be one like this, and those are big :-) Nevertheless the model is crap... Quote
UltraPrime Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I'll remove the construction sets eventually - they are there to represent it's 'WIP' status. I only want a couple more things to finish the main section of town off, then I'll work on next section... Quote
alex54 Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 While I agree that City sets are almost too big now Yes totally agree, but when you look the Ultraprime's city, the fact that some elements are bigger than in the past is not a real problem, it is just when you put them in an older city... and that is my case! So it's hard to make the "so big vehicules" smaller. But it makes you using your imagination and sens of creativity Quote

skinkfem Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 i like it your town has pretty much everything. the only thing i would recommand would be the airport shuttle to connect the town and the airport. Quote
alex54 Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 i like it your town has pretty much everything.the only thing i would recommand would be the airport shuttle to connect the town and the airport. Thanks. The airport shuttle would be nice, yes, but I don't have it and it is so expansive in the second market! Maybe if it will be a legend... Oh, and welcome to EB! Quote
skinkfem Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 thanks glad to be here. im awaiting the airport shuttle myself as the 6991-1 monorail transport base (space unitron) grew to small for my town. i guess is an issue depending on your living conditions, i must say ive been pretty lucky both in my lack of general expenses (rent, food etc) and the fact that i have a rather good place to keep my layout at. highlandcattle Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 am I the only one not turned on by the airport shuttle? It all looks a bit to grand to me. Also much bigger then most lego airports! Quote
Hobbes Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 am I the only one not turned on by the airport shuttle? Probably. It's one of the most sought after town sets ;-) It all looks a bit to grand to me. Also much bigger then most lego airports! It's supposed to connect the town/city with the airport, and since airports are usually quite a bit outside of a city it needs to be grand ;-) Quote
alex54 Posted October 12, 2006 Author Posted October 12, 2006 It all looks a bit to grand to me. Also much bigger then most lego airports! I don't find it so grand. In fact, the monorail has to run around the city to collect all the people who want to go to the airport. But in this case, the monorail needs more stations... Quote

highlandcattle Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I thought the same thing, but I'm scared to death ofloosing something up it ;-) The lego fans nightmare. Everytime I drop a piece on ther ground I quickly go looking for it so I'm sure I won't loose it Quote
alex54 Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 Ultraprime, the small touches of green give your town a better look... Quote
UltraPrime Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Ultraprime, the small touches of green give your town a better look... I thought that too. I was going to replace the green road plate with a grey one, but thought better of it. I'm now planning to get more 32 x 32 green plates and putting them in a row, get a few trees too... Quote
UltraPrime Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Made a couple of adjustments (and bought a dust-buster to clean round it!) Brickshelf Folder Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Hi alex54 This story is really good. And your city gets bigger all the time. The only thing I would recommend you could do is buy more road plates before you buy more buildings. This is because I think it would be best if you have quite a few more of the dark grey/green roads before LEGO decides again to change the design. Personally I have found integrating new roads is a pain :'-( :'-( :'-( Quote

Maybe I will, but the dark grey/green roads cost some money and you can't "play" directly with them when you buy them! But I know that I shoulc do this... or hope that TLC will not change them before some years... Quote
