I will update tomorrow once I have the blank space filled. Quote

Fred Daniel Yam Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Thanks 'LT12V' for those kind words, I only need the butcher from next years collectable minifig's and it's totally complete. Nice supermarket lightningtiger, but why did you choose an IGA supermarket? Couldn't you have chosen Woolworths or Coles? Have A Nice Day Everyone! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 (edited) Nice supermarket lightningtiger, but why did you choose an IGA supermarket? Couldn't you have chosen Woolworths or Coles? Have A Nice Day Everyone! Ah, 'volcanicpanik' our overseas friends on EB would say isn't Woolworth's dead (only Oz and South Africa I think Woolies are around anymore - the later is like David Jones, upmarket retail). IGA is a global brand and most country town's in Oz has one.....though with the huge number of orange parts I could have done a Foodworks , but again our overseas friends wouldn't know it from a bar of soap. Brick On ! Edited October 5, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote
HighFlyer Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Really good building, LEGO should really make a supermarket; the poor minifigures are starving to death, whilst the ambulances are taking time off work, the increasingly large police force are becoming lucklustre, and the firemen are putting out endless fires! Anyway, lovely work Quote
skaako Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Awesome design and detail I really like the chilled section.. looks great!!! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Thanks 'HighFlyer' and 'skaako' for your kind comments, back to MOC building tomorrow and updating images again ! Still everyone any still make suggestions....oh, I just thought of a new pay phone...Hmm, where to put it ? Quote
-zenn Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Thanks 'HighFlyer' and 'skaako' for your kind comments, back to MOC building tomorrow and updating images again ! Still everyone any still make suggestions....oh, I just thought of a new pay phone...Hmm, where to put it ? I like it so far, but I'm missing the soda and beer... And a homeless guy out front begging for spare change. Maybe you could make some shopping trolley's like this one; 01 by Nannan Z., on Flickr Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Thanks for the comments and suggestions '-zenn', such a small supermarket....hand baskets would be better. Oh, and supermarkets in South Australia can not sell booze....that's why many have a bottle shop next door or near by. Quote

Oh, and supermarkets in South Australia can not sell booze....that's why many have a bottle shop next door or near by. Yes, that's true... How about a canned foods display? Or someone running into it? Or some fruit on the outside? Edited October 8, 2011 by -zenn Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Yes, that's true... How about a canned foods display? Look very carefully at the shelves in the middle of the picture. They are tins of soup and baked beans.....yes, the town has a gas problem ! The fruit is on the inside, not enough fruit and veg in the Lego world....though I will consider more on the outside without over doing it. Quick edit - outside fruit & veg crates brought today....waiting on extra pieces for stock. Edited October 9, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 Update.... Comments still welcome. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 Well, before this topic gets put to bed.....any other suggestions for stock to go in to the supermarket ? Or ideas ? Quote
Section8 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 That's a very nice MOC. A lot of detail in a small space. I'm surprised Lego never made any official set of a supermarket. As for more stock, it looks like you can fit some things under the canned food shelf. How about boxed foods or bread? Quote
Yucca Patrol Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 If you have any more carrot tops, you can put them inside a red cone and make a nice looking radish. I agree that more boxed foods would be good in addition to the cans. Maybe some fish if you have some? Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 Thanks 'Section8' and 'Yucca Patrol' for your comments and boxed groceries....no problem - today actually.....posting later on ! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 While I really like it what bothers me is that all your buildings are similar in size. You need some variety in scale; if anything deserves to be a lot larger, its a supermarket. Cheers Quote

You need some variety in scale; if anything deserves to be a lot larger, its a supermarket. Cheers Really, the same size......all of my buildings are they ? This is a small grocery store that you would find in a typical South Aussie country town, 2 registers and only 2 staff at best. My builds start at 16 wide and go to a huge 84 wide (industrial store & workshop.....foot-note being update next week....it fell apart on me ). Point noted, but my town is only small and it's not run by Walmart ! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Point noted, but my town is only small and it's not run by Walmart ! How ever will you Aussies prosper without the American big-box mentality? I mean its working really well for us these days. Quote
