CM4Sci Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 A little bit late, but for the supporters of the MLP project, you guys should read this. From what I can tell, it's a response from Hasbro about the project. Quite interesting. Wow. Not a mention of my project? I'm really starting to get pissed.. -Sci Quote

From what I can tell, it's a response from Hasbro about the project. Quite interesting. Are you referring to the mentioned tweets from Hasbro employees? Because otherwise that seems to be just a FB supporting group of the (now shelved) project, advicing people to contact Hasbro in support of the theme? Quote

AndyC Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Have the results been announced? Because Brickipedia just made a page for a BTTF set.. -Sci Dunno about that (can't anyone make a brickipedia page?) but according to the official Lego Facebook page the Hayabusa model is going to be available worldwide soon (not just in Japan as originally), which is good news for Cuusoo fans I think! CMP Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 It does say product stage. But I can't help thinking it's a mistake or something, I doubt all have passed review and I'm sure we would've gotten a big announcement or something. Quote
Faefrost Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I'm guessing that the change is simply because the sets have entered the formal review period, and are not taking any more support votes. It's way too soon for us to hear anything? Quote

Meatman Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 (edited) Woah, where did this Portal project come from? 2,000+ supports in just a few days? This project was also rejected and then given a second chance. Hmm. What is that all about? Edited June 30, 2012 by Meatman Quote
CMP Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I think it was because the staff counted it as an FPS (first person shooter) or something like that, but since it's a puzzle game, not a shooter game, it was reevaluated. Quote
Greedo24 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Back to the sets that need to be reviewed, does anyone think that they will be ready at Comic-Con?(Did the Minecraft set take forever to be completed?) Quote
Faefrost Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Back to the sets that need to be reviewed, does anyone think that they will be ready at Comic-Con?(Did the Minecraft set take forever to be completed?) I doubt we will see anything on them by comic-con. They said at an absolute minimum it will take 6-8 weeks just to review. (unless a project gets summarily killed in the initial business case review). These all started review June 6. It is highly unlikely that any of them will be done by mid July. Maybe an outside chance of the Western Town, just because I suspect that some of the designers really like that one and may have been examining it more closely ahead of time. And it has no outside licensing to complicate it. But even then it probably won't be until late summer or early fall until we hear anything. Quote
KadasBence Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 (edited) I have made a new Insect Rider you can support on CUUSOO Here is the link: New Insect Rider Edited July 3, 2012 by KadasBence Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Cuusoo is a huge let down for me and not only for my creations there, but it appears if you want to score 10000 you must post an idea that everyone who fits "The Big Bang Theory" characterisation would love.....computer game nerds. Sorry, I'm not a computer gamer at all. Any thing that is technic or town or castle related must fight tooth and nail to build it's case.....Star Wars ones have a little easier time but still it's the odd-ball video games that come though. Unless they involve cool space craft or from cool films/TV shows I'm not interested. Case as example 'Portals', never even heard of it....just Goggled it minutes ago, limited market items that seem to reach 10000 and then Lego says NO. We can hope for winter/summer cabin to be a shining light for Cuusoo. I have 25 creations up on Cuusoo under 'Lightning51', perhaps one day I might have one hit 10000....maybe one day. Quote
SilentMode Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I have 25 creations up on Cuusoo under 'Lightning51', perhaps one day I might have one hit 10000....maybe one day. 25?! Sadly I can't find any of them, username searches doesn't appear to work. Seriously, I've felt the disillusionment and frustration from the near beginning when Minecr...aft took over. I'll spare the tirade for now, but especially since it looks like only four winning products will be produced in a year, a lot of people with really great ideas are going to be left disappointed - seeing that it really doesn't seem to be about LEGO sets any more but riding on popular licenses. Faefrost Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) We can hope for winter/summer cabin to be a shining light for Cuusoo. I have 25 creations up on Cuusoo under 'Lightning51', perhaps one day I might have one hit 10000....maybe one day. Sadly we can't search on username or creator name on CuuSoo. If you could link to one of yours I'll gladly support what I can. As far as the impression of what it takes to succeed on CuuSoo, I understand your frustration. But I don't think it is quite as bad as some seem to feel. Look at CuuSoo today as a slice. Of the top 10 currently supported projects, Yes 3 are pop culture movie related ( one Star Wars, one Batman and one anime subject), One is a video game subject ( Portal 2, not "Portals" and yeah I'll give the rabid fan base this, it is some thing special, and it also perfectly blends with the mental geometry of an AFOL. That one being there is not simply a pop culture invasion. ) of the remaining 6, 2 are wholly original creator owned Sci Fi subjects. The Space Marines and the Exosuit. One is a gorgeous Technics Land Rover, And the remaining three are highly unusual and most certainly non licensed subjects. An architecture set of a grand piano, a Japanese castle and an Apple Store. The next 10 are even more esoteric. 3 pop culture related items, another BttF set, another Zelda set and a Star Wars ship, but the other 7 are off the wall different. Birds! The Marble Maze, Mountain Biking, some sort of optical illusion. There really is a good spread of subject matter. Yeah, some (operative word some) licensed properties may be able to surge quickly. But ultimately the stuff that stands out will get support. And part of the secret to that is to reduce the clutter on the site, so the good stuff can be found. Lightning, one trick you might want to try is to reduce your volume of projects on CuuSoo. You say you have 25 projects currently up there. You are diluting yourself. Pick the best one. Your MOC that you absolutely love. The one where you think you got everything right. The one that tells a story, simply and succinctly. having seen your Manuum (sp?) stuff I can tell you lean towards city designs. Great! That is something different for CuuSoo. But for it to get attention it needs to talk to people and not simply be a building. So pick one, the one that literally sings. Put it and only it up there on CuuSoo. And then start telling people about it. Let it be seen. Not "please vote for my project" threads. Just show off your work. Show what you did, etc. (your hardware store thread is a great example of this. also see the space marines thread in the space forum.) And just as a side note regarding that "game" project that is rocketing up. Go check out the Portal MOC thread in the Space forums. You might be astonished. That portal project had been killed by CuuSoo before anyone ever saw it. TLG thought it was based on a first person shooter game and flagged it for inappropriate content. The builder then simply posted his MOC here. Not on gamer sites, not all over the place. Here at EB. All he wanted to do was share his MOC with us. We here, he Lego fans saw an amazing MOC, and that support from here, in the Lego community is what broughheist attention to TLG that they had made a mistake when they turned it down. That same support from within the AFOL community was the primary surge of support. As far as the gamer sites? They just found out about it yesterday. The project was already over 5k in a matter of days just from we "big bang" type AFOLs. Simply because the builder shared his MOC with us. Something to think about? I understand where you're coming from, but it's pretty natural I'd say: they pick something that has a huuuuuge following elsewhere on online forums, on social pages, etc - and then alert these fans to the project on LEGO, after which it's fairly easy to mobilize a great deal of these people to vote for it. Not necessarily because they plan to buy it, but because they think that every bit of expansion/exposure for their beloved product is great. Nothing is wrong with that as such, and I think it's perfectly understandable. But it of course makes it harder to gain support for ideas that does not have a huge fanbase behind them right off the bat, which is the case for most "original" LEGO ideas. My suggestion to make things easier is for LEGO to divide Cuusoo into two parts: one for "licensed" ideas and one for "original" ideas. Quote
