Concore Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) I going to shamelessly plug my own little project. Why not take a look, it's not a licence or intellectual property so every vote of support goes a long way. It started life off as an experiment in recreating an official looking LEGO City Set. ^_^ This miniature engine was inspired by the little shunting engine from LEGO's own City set, 4204 'The Mine'. It rolls in at just 5 studs wide, and can run on rails at just 4-studs wide. The LEGO historians amongst you may recognise the character on which it's name is based. Reddit happened: http://www.reddit.co...igner_for_lego/ I have a feeling it's going to be a while before we see another unlicensed project get to 10k. The mini shop series is less than 200 away from 10,000. It shouldn't be more than a day or two now. You never know. But hey at least the nature of the licensed projects seems to be diversifying it a bit. Still a little Video game heavy, but starting to break up a bit. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Good news for all us fans of City......Pekko's Mini Shops has just pump though the 10K level.......fingers crossed Lego pulls off this for I know that every city fan will buy the set they produce ! Quote

It would be nice, but probably won't make it, due to numerous licenses needed. That would really cut into profits, but thats not to say they can't take the concept of mini shops under LEGO 'brand' stores (Octan, etc). Then again, I'm sure most of the votes were for the actual name brand stores... real catch 22. Either way, I could always use some new businesses in town and would definitely buy! I just don't know how many kids would go into a toy store and say "I want a Starbuck's Coffee Shop". Then again, I don't know any kids Quote

Like this project as proposed may not be practical because of all the licenses involved, but a secondary takeaway in its 10k support might be seen to be that there is a strong interest in not just cars and trucks, but new City buildings and businesses. just2good Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I have a question... Though the Mini Shop Series reached 10K, why is it gone? What happened? Quote
Zzz Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I am not a huge fan of those shops, and while the idea and creation is nice, I am afraid they received most of their votes from (mainly Apple) fanboys. Don't get me wrong, this is written on a Mac, but this whole religious hype is annoying. A Lego city should not have the same landmarks that suck out too much individual spirit our cities once had. Having said that, of course the City needs more shops (instead of fire and police stations) and TLC needs to make them. Licensed ones, though, not. (now get out your pitchforks - 4496 - and torches - 33172 - and come running after me!) Quote

I can't imagine that CuuSoo would have pulled the project for any reason so either the creator locked it, or they may have blocked comments etc while they move it from the voting pool to an under review project. It's not gone. Here it is. I'm just not sure how to find it on Cuusoo itself; I used a link from Brickset. Quote
Faefrost Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 It's not gone. Here it is. I'm just not sure how to find it on Cuusoo itself; I used a link from Brickset. I think they do something automatically when a project hits 10k. I suspect it just locks the page and any further vote count until a CuuSoo admin goes in and manually switches it to a 'Congratulations! Under Review" mode. We've seen pages lock like this before when they hit 10k, but they normally seem to come back on the next business day. They probably do it to prevent a rush of after the fact voting and comment spam while the page is still linked to the progress measuring systems. (As an example comments for 10k projects that are under review don't show up in the "recent activities pane). I vaguely seem to remember them saying something about putting something in place when the Winchester or Serenity hit 10k. It's just weird that this one has been locked or not directly linked to for so many days. Maybe a bug in the site? (It is still Beta) Quote
Bobskink Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Before I start a topic with multiple questions... Is there some quide with tips on how to promote your Cuusoo project? I find it difficult to reach people for my project, without being pushy. Quote

BrickG Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 That's a nice looking train. Sadly for some reason I have an irrational hate of trains. I don't know why. Quote

I don't know why. hehe, I'm not a train fan either, but it's indead a very cool train. Buit I'll need to buy some gifts for little nephew in the future, so you'll get my vote, as this looks like a cool gift. Quote

Bobskink Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Strange thing happened, my suports on my Cuusoo project went 2 down. How can this be happening? I even think it's the second time this happens, but the first time I just thought it was my imagination, but now I'm 100% sure. Anybody knows how this is possible? Quote
hjmediastudios Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 It's probably a case of the admins discovering a bad vote- either someone voted twice, used dummy accounts, hacked the system, etc. I noticed it several times with Space Marines. Quote
Bobskink Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 But how do they define something like that? It's not that I don't know how to fool the system, but so far I don't have that mush votes to look suspicious in any way. I didn't even ask any of my friends to vote yet, which means that almost all my votes so far are from regular members. Ofcourse, when the day passes, I'm starting to doubt myself again, man, putting something on Cuusoo is bad for the nervs. Quote

In instances like this I believe the offending accounts are deleted altogether, so any projects they supported with those accounts would have their supports deducted. Quote

Spider-Man Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 (edited) That sounds plaussible, but it sucks :/ Or you can take it as someone likes your project so much that they are willing to break the rules to help you achieve your goal Edited April 25, 2013 by Spider-Man Quote
Phoib Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 The previous results, for the Summer review, were announced on 20 December. They are not very fast, are they? Quote
