On a semi-related note, I think that Cuusoo is an interesting idea but one that will never amount to anything. To get 10,000 people to support something Lego is insanely high - few MOC topics on this site or images hosted on flickr can even get a fraction of that many views, let alone people willing to post/favorite.

I agree. Even if an idea was to get 10,000 views, it would take a few years or more. Imagine if all 4,000 people on Eurobricks voted, where would the other 6,000 come from? I really don't think kids want to buy something that big or nonfunctional, rather than an action-packed thingy with lots of features.

I just don't think there are 10,000 people out there that are willing to support this.

Other post suggest the quota for a request for a reissue to be considered is 1000 not 10000.

Lego doesn't benefit much from the resale price being high, as I doubt the number of gouger-purchased sets is massive. They would benefit from selling more.

It actually is 10,000. It says it on the Cuusoo website and video add. :classic:

10,000 seems daunting with beta, even open beta.

When International Cuusoo becomes FULLY live, and perhaps with a push from Lego.com and maybe perhaps Lego Universe?, 10,000 votes is

still a hard earned achievement but attainable.

Yes, it is 10,000. In the Japanese beta version, which ended up with the Shinkai submarine and soon the Hayabusa satellite, the number was 1000, but now that it's gone world-wide, the number has been raised to 10,000.

And I agree. It's so high that it'll take several years before any of the projects get enough votes - if any ever do.

Like a lot of people here, I also think this is a bad idea. I am completely in favor of Lego expanding the inventory of the pick-a-brick to make it possible to assemble the parts needed to build your own, though. Honestly, once it is built it doesn't matter where the pieces originated.

This may be the best option although it would mean lego re-producing some of the parts and placing on pick a brick, but not having to go to the whole hog of re-releasing the entire set altogether ie with instructions, box, parts in bags etc. as most or at least I think most want to have the CC but don't care for the box but if you are just wanting it for collection ie complete in box then Im afraid you will have to pay yhe secondary market price for it.

I just came from a long Dark Age and the oldest modular I have is the Green Grocer.

As much as I would love to get a CC or Market Street re-release, it seems impossible. Supporting Bricklink is the way to go for me. I think it's going to be fun! :)

I havent picked up any of the modulars yet, but I'm looking into picking the Pet Shop modular in the next month or so. I was going to buy the Green Grocer set a few years back, but opted for the Tower Bridge instead. I think re-releasing old sets is a great idea. Back in the late 80s my parents couldn't afford getting the Black Seas Barracuda pirate ship. I wanted it so bad. One day I'll probably have flash backs of leaving TRU empty handed.

When they re-released the set a few years ago, I picked it up and enjoyed every second of the build. It's probably my favourite set in my collection. I think a re-release of the GG would be nice, or at least make all the parts available on the pick a brick site. I just want the set, I can live without the box and paper instructions.

I don't think people should hold their breath for a 'Legends' release of these. After reading on here for awhile, it sounds as though that line was a bust. On the resale point, people have issues with others hoarding these not because they want to sell them later on down the line, but they want to charge an insane markup on them, much like you see for the sets that are the subject at hand.

Are you crazy??? Modular line a bust???? You weren't serious when you said that were you?? The modular line is extremely successful! TLG just released the six set in the line this year and they are now releasing a mini model of the first five. Jamie Berard the designer for the modular sets is like a legend for AFOLs!! I don't think they would do this if the line was a "bust". I don't think these sets will ever get re-released in their original form. However someday I think a couple of them may get released again but they will be changed and probably have a higher price tag. I can see Cafe Corner getting released maybe at the 10th anniversary with an interior.

All that aside I wish TLG would expand their pick-a-brick selection to include some of the more rare pieces like this one in Dark Red. 4460b.jpg?1

Nope, what he said was that he thinks that the Legends line of re-releases was a bust (and thus we should not hold our breath for a similar re-release of modulars). I don't think anyone can deny the success of the modular line.

Indeed. I am a HUGE fan of the Modular line, and hope they never end.

Hi mobricki those Dark Red pieces are available through the customer services section on the Lego website. I got them no problem from there for my build of CC.

Has it been confirmed that for a discontinued set to be considered for reprinting, it only needs 1000 supporters? The only source I've been able to find for the figure of 1000 for a discontinued set is this Eurobricks thread which references this Eurobricks thread. The original thread predates the international beta and references a FAQ that no longer exists. It seems like the figure of 1000 supporters could be a holdover from the Japanese version. From the Japanese to the international beta, the number of supporters needed for a new creation to be considered went from 1000 to 10000 and the thresholds for a discontinued set could have been similarly adjusted.

You are correct. The number was 1000 originally, but grew to 10,000 for the international version.
