The last setechnic challenge finished yesterday and unfortunately I collected only six votes. I'm very pleased by my model and how it turned out but I decided to create a simple but very functionnal truck and some others participants prefered create a complex truck, which seem to be more appreciated from people voting.

My creation is inspired from mack terraprow low entry truck with a durapack python arm ( from heil). If you do not know what these truck look like, I thorougly invite you to tap on google these words because they look a bit strange (in any case for european people).

It owns a fake engine powered by the rear axles and a steering on the front axle with HOG ( no fake wheel because there is no space). One of the most complex thing I faced during building this truck is the particular shapes of the cab.

The others functions are pneumatic : three arm movements, compressor and liftable skip. The arm kinematic was very complex to create because it had to be strong enough to support the weight of the dustbin. Moreover, the displacement of the arm had be sufficient to dump the trash in the dumpster.

To see other pictures, go on my brickshelf galery :

Finally, here is the video :

I hope you like it and I'm open to any comments. As usual, sorry for my bad english.

I like it! It looks really good, and the functions are very realistic. My city uses the Mack side loaders to collect the recycled trash. It is always interesting to watch how they work. Nicely done.

Wow once again amazing model!! I am very impressed that you managed to model the complex arm so well.

I really like the design of the side loading arm - excellent power and range of motion and very compact. Is the linkage based on mechanisms in the real truck? Can you post more pictures of the arm? It is somewhat obscured in your brickshelf pictures.

Thanks.

First of all. This is both beautiful and very nicely working. That's a great achievement.

I have tried to design my own side loader using a single motor to operate the arm. Have you tried to make it have all the functionality that you show (reaching out, grab and lift) using a single valve?

Thanks everybody ! I haven't tried to use only one valve because movements had to be done in a definite order and, as far as I know, it's not possible to dispatch air in the first cylinder, then in the second, ...

Yes, the linkage of the arm is based on real arms. It's inspired from durapack python arm ( from heil) and you can go on their website to see pdf files showing how it works.I'm sorry but I can't post more pictures because I needed some parts to complet an other MOC and it's disassembled.
