SilentMode Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I got harassed by some security guard in Smiths when I was trying to find an S1 Zombie; this was back when I'd used my old phone to scan the barcodes. I haven't bought a minifigure from that shop since, but after that I started using the feeling technique instead. Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I don't think feeling bags is fair as a little 7 year old may want let's say a space marine. So he/she gets a few random bags thinking he has a chance of getting a space marine but he/she has no chance because someone felt the bags and took all 5 space marines in the store. Quote
AngryChair Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I agree with you to some point but if a kid just picks up a bag out of the box he stands a very low chance of getting what he wants anyway doesn't he. I have to point out though that I only get single figs and not into the whole building of an army. I'm loving these personal stories though and I agree I think this deserves it's own thread Quote

In a perfect world, you would be right. In this world, if I don't' feel the bags for getting (eg) the space marine, I'd buy that on bricklink by a user who has done the same process to get it. Since I'm not stealing, I pay what I take, I have the identical same rights to buy than the customer who picks at random. In minifig building army, mors tua vita mea. Quote
jonwil Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 When I was buying my first series 1 at a small toy store, I was sort of hanging around the counter (the boxes of figs were on the counter) trying to think of how I could get away with feeling the bags and the guy basically told me that he could find whatever I wanted via the bar-codes (which I knew about but didnt have) and then proceeded to scan figs with the computer to find the figs I wanted. When I bought my Series 2, I was in a large store with another AFOL and the box was on the shelf with all the other LEGO, one store employee asked what we were doing and we told them and promised to buy any figs that were in any way damaged or unsellable. Have seen others doing feel-in-the-bag as well (not people I know though) and would have no qualms helping people out (including total strangers) if they were trying to find specific figs. Quote

Jonwil, if you promise to go up to a stranger in an aisle and say "would you like me to help you finger your bags?" i will personally send you any figure you want out of series 7! Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 The other reason feeling bags is okay is because you don't always get the 'fig you want. I tried to get two S5 cavegirls th other day, felt the bags until I was sure, and then checked out. After I opened them, I found that I had gotten 1 cavegirl and an Inspector, which is the only S5 fig I don't like. The same goes for S7. You could be sure that you have, say, 4 space marines and end up getting tennis players instead. It's a matter of how much time you take. The more time you take to be sure, the better the chance is you get what you want. Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Oh dear I get bashed because I have a conscience. Fingering is ok buu it is a bit selfish as someone won't get the figure they want. The could end up buying 35 packets but end up with out their favourite figure Quote

The could end up buying 35 packets but end up with out their favourite figure I don't think this is any different to when we used to buy football stickers in that it's total pot luck. I think if someone wants to spend the time feeling/fingering the bags then more power to them. Plus with the way finances are I, as a 'bag feeler' feel I have to be as careful with my cash and begrudge getting unwanted duplicates like I did last week (2 Sherlock Holmes and 2 Cavegirls) Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Perhaps the personal stories of Collectible-minifig-packaging molestation would be better suited to a thread devoted to that topic rather than the Series 7 thread. Unless it has something to do with Series 7 let's talk about it elsewhere. We've got quite a while before this series is available. Quote

I personally see a separate visor on the Space Marine, but I may be wrong. Either way, that helmet and body armor seems to be showing me a glimpse of the future. With MB losing its licenses, we may be seeing LEGO Halo soon enough. That helmet and armor seems to agree with me, since it is exactly the right shape. All it would need is a golden visor, and walla, HALO Spartan! Quote
Quad Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I can tell that the tennis guy's hair is going to be very popular for sig-figs, just like the surfer guy's hair from series 2. Quote
Fives Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 The only time I've felt bags to determine figs is in a small book store I know that sells them. Each time, I've never had any trouble, and the people in the store don't really care. One time, back when S2 was in stores, my dad was in Toronto in a Toys R Us, and, using his iPhone and help from an employee, found the only ten Spartans in the whole store.mi wish the barcodes were still around. Brickmamba Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 can we keep this thread on topic and not about 'fingering', until shops disallow people from feeling mini-figs people are gong to continue doing it...zzz Quote

It also is used in S6 on the sleepy kid. I want it in black for a certain Hero I play.... (Look at my signature if you're not sure what I mean ) Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 It's clearly a boar. last time I checked this topic 'rat or bat' was the last comment - and I was gonna say 'warthog' because I have some sort of warthog preoccupation yeah of course it's the boar though. I was forgetting the (not so) subtle varieties of wild pigthings Quote
lego tripper Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 That's one hairy rhino. COM'ON BOAR (and torso print w/boar crest)! Ah yes, now I see. I thought the sharp end to the left was some kind of tail at first, but now I can definitely see a razorback in there. Quote
mo123567 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Does anyone know what the color (packaging) for this series will be? Quote
Rocketbilly Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Does anyone know what the color (packaging) for this series will be? Well, going by Lego's colour chart this series will use colour 40 - Transparent for the packaging. Seriously though I think I've seen somewhere that they'll be light blue or purple - I think one of those colours is for series 6, the other for this one but which colour for which series I can't quite recall. Light blue? I hope not. We've already had Dark Azure for series 5, and if you get any lighter than that you lose vibrance. My guesses would be something like 28 Dark Green (Bricklink's Green), or 268 Medium Lilac (Bricklink's Dark Purple). Maybe even 221 Dark Purple (Bricklink's Dark Pink) if it didn't scare off the adolescent males LEGO targets. Didn't we see something saying Series 6 would be White? Quote

I must be going a bit fusty - when making my post I thought that series five was green! - honestly, I'm losing track with these minifigs, it might just be my bad luck but since they've recently made some sort of "best sellers list" here in the UK they've seemingly become increasingly more scarce. Anyhow, I think purple would be a nice colour, any shade of purple. Now you mention it, I do seem to recall mention of white. I find that a bit strange - I would have thought we'd have had red by now, since LEGO seems to like using red....white seems a bit odd too me. Quote

I'm thinking they've avoided using red because it's a bright enough color that it would overpower the minifigs in the foreground, not to mention how the minifigures logo itself uses red heavily. Creator Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Does anyone know what the color (packaging) for this series will be? According to "Brickipedia" series 6 will be white/gray and series 7 will be red. Quote
Lyichir Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 According to "Brickipedia" series 6 will be white/gray and series 7 will be red. I'm not about to trust Brickipedia on it if it hasn't been sourced. Red is a prominent color that hasn't yet been used, but I don't think we've had any confirmation of what Series 7 is. Quote
