Peanuts Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 now, I would say rhinoceros. eyars, horn, head... :) What sence would a rhino make anyway? The live in Africa and Asia, while such knights existed only in Europe. It's clearly a boar. Quote

Technically, lions only lived in Africa too, and they were very common on heraldry. But I agree, it definitely looks more like a boar than a rhino. Quote
jade-sabre Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 (edited) This is my favorite set yet. Not a dull figure in the bunch. My thoughts: 1. Computer Programmer - I'm taking this one to work with me :) 2. Bride - nice to have a chance to get the Princess Kate figure 3. Super Dave (stunt man) - if you haven't seen Super Dave from the 80s, go to Youtube right now 4. Valkyrie - might substitute one of the singer heads from the 1st winter village set for an opera singer 5. Tarzan - good match for Jane in series 5 6. Bunnyman - bring a smile to my face 7. Diver - as said by others, good for Celebration Luke medal 8. Tennis Star - now have a match for the Billy Jean figure 9. Rocker chick - classic 80s 10. Aztec - best figure in the set 11. Bagpiper - never thought I'd see this! Awesomeness. 12. Space Marine - army builder of the set (or should I say marine builder) 13. Hippie - again, never thought I'd see this 14. Black night - great figure, but mixed feelings with the Black Falcon figure being release in the new Jousting set 15. Red Riding hood - mostly want the red hood, but with the woodsman, who thinks a wolf suit figure is on it way? 16. King Triton - will look great atop the Atlantis ruins set Edited October 22, 2011 by jade-sabre Quote
Wout Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Wow, these look very good! I love the basket Red RH has. Quote
Jargo Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 In Heraldry, a lion facing forwards is a lion but a side profile is known as a leopard. They hadn't worked out the differences at that stage. But yes, rhinos would make odd crest imagery. Quote
Etzel Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Technically, lions only lived in Africa too, and they were very common on heraldry. But I agree, it definitely looks more like a boar than a rhino. Technically, lions actually lived in Europe too, at least until the Roman period and there are still lions in Asia. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 7. Diver - as said by others, good for Celebration Luke medal What is a celebration Luke medal? Quote
Etzel Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 What is a celebration Luke medal? Star Wars stuff, not important. Quote
Brickmamba Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Star Wars stuff, not important. bah! make that 2 medals one for luke and han as well Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 What is a celebration Luke medal? Here you go: There is also Cerimonial Han: Both pictures from Brickipedia. Quote
Cutty Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Technically, lions only lived in Africa too, and they were very common on heraldry. But I agree, it definitely looks more like a boar than a rhino. Well, not to get all historic-facts-in-your-face and all, but technically lions did exist outside of africa for the longest time, having a habitat stretching from southern europe (todays Greece and caucasos region) way far into the middle eastern regions (todays Iran, Iraq and beyond). Well, until homo sapiens decided to make himself king of the food chain for that matter. This is also the reason why you can read so many stories about antiquity's heroic characters fighting and slaying lions, why you can see persian kings lion hunting aso. ^^ As for that heraldry: Yes, even though the pic doesn't give away that much, I concur on a boar being the most reasonable assumption. I welcome this strongly and hope to get some numbers of the black knight to stock up on very useful parts. Be well all! Cutty Quote
Bart Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 a bagpipe !! I so want that one.. but still waiting for s5 to hit the stores here :/ Bart Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Once again, these are pure win. I'm especially excited about the Mesoamerican warrior, the bagpiper, the hippie and the IT guy, but I very much want them all - at least two of each, in fact, as I've gotten for each of the previous series, and plan to do with Series 6 as well. I believe this to be fake. As you can see, it lacks a skateboarder or a person doing snow sports. Quote
natelite Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Why he has red eyes is beyond me? he's in bloodlust! Quote
Amset-Rah Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I can't wait for this batch. Really the one I'm definitely going to pick up is the girl rocker (Holy glam rock, Batman!), but I'll keep my eyes peeled for the others (The IT guy looks hilarious, the warrior looks pretty epic, and I have a soft spot for the Scotsman) Quote
Vindice Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 This series is impressive! To me it could be the best one yet, the space marine dude is very cool. I can see some Mass Effect MOCS in the future! Quote

I can see some Mass Effect MOCS in the future! What a great idea. I agree though that this set is awesome. Just wish there was a better way of figuring out what figure is in the bag without having to feel the contents which does get some strange looks from passers by in Tesco. I have to admit there is something seedy about the process Quote

That security guard part is the exact reason why I do my searching under the eyes of employees exlusively just to get all potential suspicion off me. In smaller stores I even ask if it's all right to do my searching, as I was once told not to and very rudely by the way. Strangely that was when S1 and 2 were still around and I explained in response I wasn't even feeling but checking barcodes. Well, that lady insisted on the bags being for surprise-purposes only. Well, as if I wouldn't have known that... I chuckled at that groaning part. Be well all! Cutty Edited October 26, 2011 by Cutty Quote
Zeya Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 New thread idea: Share Your Bag Fondling Stories. Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 New thread idea: Share Your Bag Fondling Stories. I got different reactions in different stores. In one they were surprised and amazed at my skill, they even got me a discount for the huge amount of minifig bought. In one they said "it's unfair" but they stopped when I said "Maybe yes, but I can't live on doubles" In one the shopkeeper asked me for having himself a gladiator. In one the shopkeeper said I had to stop "because the box is near to the paying queue and you are an obstacle" and there I was bold enough to take the whole box and continue elsewhere. And so on. BTW there are two main things I don't forget while feeling the bags. 1 - The customer is always right. This is the first law of commerce. And as a customer, either you allow me to feel the bags, or I will do the same process in another shop. Your choice. I buy a lot of minifigs, are you sure you want to give up my money for a little bothering in watching me feeling bags? 2 - IF I REMOVE A CERTAIN MINIFIG FROM YOUR BOX, people buying random minifigs will come back looking for that particoular one which is not in the box any more, and come again and again. So, if you are smart, you SHOULD BE HAPPY if I feel the bags in army building. Let's say it all, shopkeeper, I'm helping ya! This said, I can tell for sure that if somebody in my zone was looking for the S5 dwarf, he/she could forget about it. 21 picked in 7 different boxes in 5 different shops. 0 error ratio. I even found multiple shops which were selling it at 2€ instead of 2,50€ S6 will be the largest army building for me even more than S7. I got 100€ ready for that. I'll have to visit all the shops on the first days of January to ensure the boxes are just fresh opened and get my Roman Soldiers, Minotaurs, Highlanders, Genies and Leprechaunes Quote
Kryne Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 New thread idea: Share Your Bag Fondling Stories. I actually had a staff member go online for me to get the decoder for the series 3 bags and he got me 4 i needed, its nice when staff are helpful and it will mean alot of extra sales for them. I can see why some places might get upset about it, specially if you become and obsticle but most the time it would just be weird looks because your an adult buying lego. Quote
