Etzel Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 The healing had recovered Maurice very well and all of his team mates looked strong and healthy. Incredible, just some moments ago everything had seemed so dark and hopeless. They were surely blessed by Ennoc and of course their own mage En Salah Nur the Great! Now it was time to show themselves worthy in a battle! "I will attack Gargoyle A from the front row! Jensen, go get Gargoyle B what it deserves!" Battle order: Jensen Alf Gregory Erdathcath Madilinas En Salah Nur Maurice Ratibor
The_Customizer Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I believe I shall use a Ice Bomb against the Gargoyles. But guys, let's make sure to attack both of them, as we don't want to be killed. (Again) OOC: Does it matter what row I am in when I use a bomb? (If it does I'll be in the back row)
Bricksandparts Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 "NUR! You won!!!" Alf goes and pats Nur on the shoulder. I'll attack Gargoyal A from the front row! Unless The party leader thinks I should from the back.
Jebediahs Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Nur smiled at Alf, genuinely pleased to see the barbarian back on his feet. "I will use a light spell from the back row on Gargoyle B."
Sandy Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 OoC: In case you were wondering why the other gargoyle had lower health than the other, I decided to move the enemy stats from the first battle against them. How would have the gargoyle be able to heal itself, anyway? Results of Round One of the Gargoyle Battle: Jensen vs. Gargoyle B - Critical Hit Alf Gregory vs. Gargoyle A - Extra Critical Hit >Erdathcath Madilinas uses Ice Bomb >En Sabah Nur (Light) vs. Gargoyle B - Shield: Magic Burst (Light)/Miss Maurice Ratibor vs. Gargoyle A - Miss The battle against the gargoyles continues from where it was left earlier. Jensen scores a critical hit, dealing a whopping 23 damage to the rock-type enemy. Alf also gains a massive hit against his target, causing 13 damage. Erdathcath throws an Ice Bomb at the enemies, dealing 5 damage to both of them. The stone creature flies up in the air and plummets down against Jensen, causing 8 damage to the night guard but also hurting itself for 2 health points. Alf goes into a Frenzy, attacking the gargoyle for 7 damage. The gargoyle hurts Erdathcath, taking away 2 health from her. Nur's attack misses. Then the gargoyle does its plummeting move again, this time against Maurice. The cleric is damaged for 8 points, and the gargoyle for another 2. The enemy is still standing. Jensen takes the Sentinel position, protecting the party for the next round. Alf takes 4 damage from the gargoyle's attack. Erdathcath puts three arrows into her bow and finishes the enemy off with a Tripleshot that deals a total of 21 damage. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS! All party members gain a level of experience. The enemies drop two halves of a globe. (quest item) With the gargoyles out of the way, the party is now free to enter the Library, the Planetarium and the Auditorium from the yard, or return to the Entrance Hall.
Etzel Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Maurice is once again completely useless in battle. He promises himself that once they are back at the Heroica Hall he will find some fearless barbarian warrior and ask to have some training. "I will heal myself and Jensen from the damage those piles of rubble did to us. Erdathcath, how are you doing? I'll take care of the globe pieces too, I think I won't need to carrying around on those much longer." "We can't afford to run around and search blindly any more. We have the Auditorium and the Planetarium (with the Observatory) left. Since Bohring the Enlightened told us the Meteor Blade was hidden somewhere in the Observatory, I think we need to check the Auditorium quickly before heading to the Planetarium, we can't afford to miss a globe piece because we might not have time to go back searching for it later."
Sandy Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 Party: Alf Gregory (played by Bricksandparts) Level 5 Barbarian Power: 8 Health: 13/13 Gold: 0 Inventory: Greatsword (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), 2 Potions, Venom, Mead, 2 Ice Bombs, Shovel, Magnifying Glass, Crystal Ball En Sabah Nur (played by Jebediahs) Level 9 Mage *Lucky* Power: 14 Health: 14/14 Ether: 9/13 Gold: 0 Inventory: Sangriste Dagger (WP:5), Helmet (+1 max. health), Loaded Die (permanent lucky-effect), Garnet (Earth), Diamond (Light), 4 Potions, 2 Tonics, Grand Tonic, Remedy, Mead, Smoke Bomb, Ice Bomb, Bedroll, Magnifying Glass Erdathcath Madilinas (played by The_Customizer) Level 5 Ranger Power: 8 Health: 9/11 Gold: 5 Inventory: Longbow (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), Potion, Grand Potion, Smoke Bomb, Ice Bomb, Bedroll, Crystal Ball Maurice Ratibor (played by Etzel) Level 5 Cleric Power: 8 Health: 14/14 Ether: 6/9 Gold: 5 Inventory: Steel Mace (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), Helmet (+1 max. health, unequipped), Potion, Tonic, Venom, Red Globe, Black Globe, 2 Halves of a Brown Globe, 2 Halves of a Grey Globe, Glue Jensen (NPC) Level 8 Night Guard Power: 12 (16 against rock monsters) Health: 18/18 Gold: 0 Inventory: Security Bat (WP:4/8 against rock monsters), Helmet (+1 max. health) The party decides to check the Auditorium. There are doors there to the Planetarium, the Library and the Atrium where they just came from. The auditorium was a big space with seats in a descending, semi-circular shape. Imposing statues of Amadea and Melodion watched over the hall. Odd whispers echo throughout the room. The heroes can't quite grasp at what they are saying, though.
Etzel Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Maurice is greatly impressed by this Auditorium. Such magnificent statues! "How will the students be able to concentrate on the lectures with all this to gaze upon?" he thinks for himself. "Maybe we should go and look what is written on the blackboard. And that piece of parchment on the table could need a look too. But I don't see anything that looks like a globe in here."
Sandy Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 "Maybe we should go and look what is written on the blackboard. And that piece of parchment on the table could need a look too. But I don't see anything that looks like a globe in here." There are just some mind-numbing equations scribbled onto the blackboard, and the piece of parchment seems to be some absent-minded teacher's notes for a lecture.
Jebediahs Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 En Sabah Nur was also blown away by the construction. He knew he'd never be able to build something like this. "Wouldn't it be a blast if this tile activated the these gorgeous statues and they attacked us?" Nur stepped on the circular arrow tile on his way to taking a seat. He had a slight headache (no doubt brought on by his recent brush with death) that was making it a little difficult for him to concentrate. The odd whispers weren't helping. "Bohring, can you and your friends keep it down?!" The party gave the mage a confused look so Nur put his head down on the desk. "Alf, do your barbarian senses tingle for any clues?"
Sandy Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 "Wouldn't it be a blast if this tile activated the these gorgeous statues and they attacked us?" Nur stepped on the circular arrow tile on his way to taking a seat. Nothing happens. Sometimes tiles are just tiles. Other than the whispers, the party finds nothing of interest from the auditorium. What will the party do now?
Etzel Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 "Then we should continue to the Planetarium, I'm curious to see what kind of puzzle it is that Bohring the Enlightened talked about."
Sandy Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 The party continued their way to the Planetarium through the Auditorium. There they found entrances to the Atrium and the West Wing, but on the western wall there was an empty niche instead of a door. In the middle of the room there was a strange iron pole standing from a golden dome. The pole had four identical extensions with broken down ends. It became obvious that the globes that the party had been broken out of the contraption. Maybe if the party got the solar system model working again, the way up to the Observatory would open. What does the party wish to do now?
Etzel Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 "I think I will try and put together the halves of the globes, using glue if necessary. Then placing them one of each on the extensions of the pole. I don't know which one will go where so it's all of chance in this first try. From top to bottom: Red globe, Grey globe, Brown globe, Black globe."
The_Customizer Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Let's try that combination. (Very glad we were able to take out the gargoyles) But if I remember right, the globes were supposed to be used for the puzzle in the observatory, weren't they?
Etzel Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Let's try that combination. (Very glad we were able to take out the gargoyles) But if I remember right, the globes were supposed to be used for the puzzle in the observatory, weren't they? "No, I think are meant to be used in a puzzle to get access to the observatory."
Bricksandparts Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 "Use the glue!" Alf says, "put pieces together!"
Sandy Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 "I think I will try and put together the halves of the globes, using glue if necessary. Then placing them one of each on the extensions of the pole. I don't know which one will go where so it's all of chance in this first try. From top to bottom: Red globe, Grey globe, Brown globe, Black globe." Nothing happens. None of the heroes are educated in astronomy, but perhaps they could find more information about the planets somewhere in the academy...
Etzel Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 "Well, this the Planetarium. If there is any information about the planet system to be found in this Academy I would think it's to be found here. Let's search this room for any information of use." (OoC: When you said nothing happened, I guess that was the placing of the globes. The gluing of the halves worked, right?)
Sandy Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 "Well, this the Planetarium. (OoC: When you said nothing happened, I guess that was the placing of the globes. The gluing of the halves worked, right?) OoC: Yes, the globe halves are now glued together. The party searches the Planetarium, but there's nothing else in the room except the planet model.
Etzel Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 "Quickly then, let's run over to the Library and find some book about astronomy!" Maurice whispers a curse to himself for not thinking about that earlier when the party was there.
Sandy Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 The party returns to the library, and begin searching for books about astronomy. But in their haste they fail to notice how the books start to hum and tremble in the shelves. As Maurice reaches to grab a promising book from the shelf, the entire room explodes. The party suffers a loss of half their health. As they stand up from among the devastation, they see five glowing books fluttering around. The enchanted tomes promptly engage the party into a battle. Jebediahs Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 "Barbarian, let's end this quickly with Ice Bombs!"
Etzel Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Maurice stands dumbfounded while Nur handles the situation like he has never done something else. "My leader skills seems to be at level of my fighting ones. I just led my team into a trap because I got stressed. I need to keep calm and concentrated if we are to succeed with this quest." Marucie says to himself "Ah right, 2 Ice bombs should take the best out of that levitating literature. Me and Jensen will target one each just in case anything unexpected happens. Jensen you can take the brown book and I'll take the blue, both from the back row." Battle order: En Salah Nur Alf Gregory Jensen Maurice Ratibor Erdathcath Madilinas
Jebediahs Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 From the cleric's body language, Nur picked up on the Ratibor's thoughts. He put his hand on the man's shoulder and looked him in the eye before letting out a loud guffaw. "Haha. My friend, in my first mission I walked my group into a tripwire and collapsed a ceiling on the entire party. I'm surprised that ogre didn't eat me on the spot. That could have been avoided if we simply took the time to proceed cautiously. This was a magical trap. How could any of us known? We shall complete this mission, successfully!" Nur reached into his pouch and retrieved an ice bomb.
