Etzel Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 "Thanks for finishing them off, Nur! That saved me from even more humiliation." "Alf, one potion for you since you had to use one during the battle. We seem to be quite well equipped with potions now except for Jensen so I think he should have one as well (after all, he had 3 critical hits in a row ), if another battle comes he is better prepared then. Nur, I know you are a bit sceptical about strange gems, but I want you to keep hold of this Aquamarine one as well. After the quest is over maybe one of us is interested in it." "Alf and Nur, would you like me to heal you before we continue? Now that we aren't under attack I'm confident that I will be able to perform a successful healing."
Jebediahs Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 "Aye, healing would be appreciated." Nur accepted the gem. Hopefully he could unlock its magic before the next battle. "Of course, we shall divide the gems once we've solved this mystery." OOC: lol maurice
Bricksandparts Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) OOC: Sandy, my health... Oh, no heal, PL. I have automatic health remember? Lets check the area for anything of importance before we leave. Edited October 31, 2011 by Bricksandparts
Etzel Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 "Right, I'll heal En Salah Nur at the cost of 1 ether."
The_Customizer Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 So, shall we continue on to find the source of that scream? Or where exactly are we headed?
Bricksandparts Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 OOC: yes, sandy, according to my map, about where are we?
Sandy Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 OoC: Sorry, Bricksandparts, I always forget... Party: Alf Gregory (played by Bricksandparts) Level 7 Barbarian Power: 10 Health: 15/15 Gold: 0 Inventory: Greatsword (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), 2 Potions, Venom, Ice Bomb, Shovel, Magnifying Glass, Crystal Ball En Sabah Nur (played by Jebediahs) Level 10½ Mage *Lucky* Power: 15 Health: 15/15 Ether: 10/15 Gold: 0 Inventory: Sangriste Dagger (WP:5), Helmet (+1 max. health), Loaded Die (permanent lucky-effect), Garnet (Earth), Diamond (Light), Aquamarine (Water), 4 Potions, 4 Tonics, Grand Tonic, Remedy, Smoke Bomb, Bedroll, Magnifying Glass Erdathcath Madilinas (played by The_Customizer) Level 7 Ranger Power: 10 Health: 13/13 Gold: 5 Inventory: Longbow (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), Potion, Grand Potion, Smoke Bomb, Ice Bomb, Bedroll, Crystal Ball Maurice Ratibor (played by Etzel) Level 7 Cleric Power: 10 Health: 16/16 Ether: 8/11 Gold: 5 Inventory: Steel Mace (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), Helmet (+1 max. health, unequipped), Potion, 3 Tonics, Venom, Red Globe, Black Globe, Brown Globe, Grey Globe, Golden Globe, Glue Jensen (NPC) Level 10 Night Guard Power: 14 (18 against rock monsters) Health: 20/20 Gold: 0 Inventory: Security Bat (WP:4/8 against rock monsters), Helmet (+1 max. health), Potion The party holds their noses as the stinking troll's corpse starts to smell more. Alf checks the surroundings, and finds some flaked scales from the floor. Ahead there's only the darkness of the sewers, behind them is the staircase that will lead them to the source of the scream. The party also has the fifth globe now... What will the party do next?
The_Customizer Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I have a feeling the scales are from the giant snake, and since we know have a fifth globe we can assume that the globes we had before weren't exactly the right ones....
Etzel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 "The fifth globe is the only one missing to complete the puzzle in the Planetarium. I think we should take these stairs up and see where we get, if it's close to the Planetarium I suggest we go there and solve the puzzle before we set out to find what caused the scream." "Alf, I see that you are confused about where we are but don't worry. Down here in sewers we can't relay on maps but only our sense of direction and instincts, or as in this case our senses of smell and sound."
Sandy Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 I think we should take these stairs up and see where we get, if it's close to the Planetarium I suggest we go there and solve the puzzle before we set out to find what caused the scream." Maurice gets disoriented by the sewers and thinks that the stairs they used to get down there were a different set of stairs. He notices his mistake as they arrive to back to the Faculty Office. There they hear the screaming more clearly, although it's not near. It's not the cries of someone in distress, but the noise is full of anger and pain. At times it's more like howling, then cursing, then growling. Whatever the source of the scream is, it is not human. Where will the party head to now?
The_Customizer Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 The screams might be from the snake, or that ghost guy(Bohrling) we met earlier. Hopefully we can now figure out the placement of globes.
Etzel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 "Oh it was the same stairs, my bad! " "I say we go towards the Planetarium via the Library and the Atrium and listen during the way for the cries and make up where they come from."
Sandy Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 "Oh it was the same stairs, my bad! " "I say we go towards the Planetarium via the Library and the Atrium and listen during the way for the cries and make up where they come from." The party returns downstairs and enters the ruined library. The screaming becomes louder and clearer. They walk past the Atrium into the Planetarium, and they can hear the screams all the way. It is evident that they come from the Auditorium. Now the party is facing the puzzle with the planets again. How will they try to solve it?
The_Customizer Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Hmm, should we look into the Auditorium real quick before we check out this puzzle with the globes?
Etzel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 "With the same combination as last time, but with the golden globe as a fifth and outermost planet. So , from the sun and out: Red Brown Grey Black Gold Hmm, should we look into the Auditorium real quick before we check out this puzzle with the globes? "No, I think we should solve the puzzle first. The Meteor Blade might be useful when we encounter the screaming thing."
The_Customizer Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 "With the same combination as last time, but with the golden globe as a fifth and outermost planet. So , from the sun and out: Red Brown Grey Black Gold "No, I think we should solve the puzzle first. The Meteor Blade might be useful when we encounter the screaming thing." True, let's hope this is the right solution.
Sandy Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 "With the same combination as last time, but with the golden globe as a fifth and outermost planet. So , from the sun and out: Red Brown Grey Black Gold The planets seems to be in the correct places, but the way up to the observatory still does not open. Maybe the party missed something from the clue they found at the library?
Jebediahs Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 "Hm perhaps we missed something from the clue we found at the library?"
Etzel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 "Right, we need to spin them also. The red and the grey planet clockwise and the brown and the black counter-clockwise."
Sandy Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 "Right, we need to spin them also. The red and the grey planet clockwise and the brown and the black counter-clockwise." And the golden globe...?
The_Customizer Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 That should do it! And if this doesn't work, we can just break down the door.
Sandy Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 The party manages to align the planets correctly and as they give the globes a spin, the century-old machinery starts whirring and rotating. The dance of the planets opens up the empty crevice on the western wall, revealing a winding staircase leading up to the top of the tower. Boldly the party enters the staircase, and after a steep climb up they come to the Observatory, where they see a gigantic telescope - a mighty creation that seems to be out of their world. Four statues carved as the image of the four late provosts of the academy stand vigilant around the telescope. A chilly breeze blows through the open window, which reveals the starry sky above. What will the party do now?
The_Customizer Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Woah! Totally not expecting that. Let's look into this monstrosity, perhaps we shall find something.
Etzel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 "Look at that! Well, I want to have a look in that telescope! It might be the only chance I get to use one of these!"
