Sandy Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 "Excuse us, Sir. We are heroes from Heroica sent out by Provost Darlavon Lector to stop the vandals who are plaguing this academy. Do you know where they are?" The ghost finally noticed the party, and hovered over to them. It spoke in a dry, monotonous voice. "Heroica, eeeeehhhh? Well, the situation here is dire indeed... Ooohhh, that current provost just makes my blood boil - that is, if I still had any blood left in me. A hundred years I have wandered through the halls of this grand institute of mine, and seen inadept provosts come and go. This Lector, though, he must be the worse one yet. Even worse that Provost Antiphone, who almost burned down the place. You should never smoke a pipe in a chemistry class, remember that. WooooOOOooo, and then there was Provost Gilligan, who was a snivelling leprechaun. Ended up stealing all the gold from the academy's bank account, that one. They say he fled abroad with the gold in one hand and a sassy dryad in another. And don't even get me started on Provost Focker! Oooh, the jokes the students made about his name... But this Darlavon Lector, his inadequateness has been the doom of this school, mark my words! NooooOOOoooOOOOooo, none of those slackers can match the glory of the first provost of the Academy of Enlightenment. That is me, Bohring the Enlightened! ...Now, what were you asking about again? OoooooOOOooohhh...."
Etzel Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 The ghost's rambling went on and on and Maurice felt how time was running away. "The vandals, have you seen them?"
The_Customizer Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I do not believe we are gettting anywhere with this "ghost" or whatever he may be. I believe we should continue on, to try and catch the villains.
Sandy Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 The ghost's rambling went on and on and Maurice felt how time was running away. "The vandals, have you seen them?" "AaaAAahhhh, vandals... Wait, what vandals are we talking about? This academy has been infested with already ghosts and demons summoned from another plane of existence, so are you telling me that there are vandals running amok here as well? If I may correct your misconception, we do not educate rascals in this place. Only the most prestigious families send their well-behaved youth here to be taught about the fine arts and sciences. The Hinckwells and the other powerful houses funded the building of this institute per my request. YeeEEEEeesss I brought civilization with me to Eubric. Before this academy was founded, the youth of the wealthy families had to be sent over the seas to the High Kingdoms for education. But now, thanks to my struggles, this backwater city has been illuminated by the radiance of knowledge. And what a sorry state it has gone into, all because of that Lector fellow... I tried to tell the council it would be a mistake to assign him as a provost, but did they listen to me? No sirree! Probably because they couldn't hear me... I am a ghost, after all, and during daylight I am at my weakest. And as you see, there's nobody here during the nights, except that imbecile night guard. And now, you. Did you see what that snake did to the guard, yet? I would say it was hilarious, if I still had any joy left in me..."
The_Customizer Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Indeed, and do you know whence the snake came from? And where it is now?
Jebediahs Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "My dear Bohring, ye wouldn't happen to be responsible for the profanities we've seen along the walls of the academy, eh? I can understand your frustration with the council's inability to hear you so perhaps you communicated with the living world in the only possible means you could, with horrendous graffiti. Please correct me if I'm wrong." Nur walked closer to the ghost as if examining him. "Is it your rage for inept Provosts that sustains you on this plane? Perhaps we could rid the school of Lector so that you might seek some rest. And how were all these demons and undead creatures brought here anyway, a student project gone wrong?"
Etzel Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "AaaAAahhhh, vandals... Wait, what vandals are we talking about? This academy has been infested with already ghosts and demons summoned from another plane of existence, so are you telling me that there are vandals running amok here as well? Oh, that puts things in a new perspective. Demons and ghosts and walking statues that harasses an Academy, certainly different then a bunch of kids with bad upbringing. Did you see what that snake did to the guard, yet? I would say it was hilarious, if I still had any joy left in me..." Indeed, and do you know whence the snake came from? And where it is now? What? No, I have no idea what you talking about. Where did you see this Erdathcath?
The_Customizer Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 What? No, I have no idea what you talking about. Where did you see this Erdathcath? I was asking him where it was. Perhaps, though, Nur is correct in that this ghost is the one writing on the walls....
Sandy Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Indeed, and do you know whence the snake came from? And where it is now? "Oooohhh, that snake has been living down in the sewers long before this academy was even build. A spawn of evil, it is, and despite its size it is a master in hiding. Even I did not know of its existence until after I had passed away - and I supervised the construction of this building. Before that, there was a few town houses and an abandoned temple at this site. The Hinckwells bought them all and with a few quick spells demolished them so the construction of this magnificent institute could begin. WoooOOOoooo! As to what comes to its current whereabouts, I believe the snake returned back to the sewers. There is a secret passage down to the sewers, by the way, but naturally I will not reveal its location to you. It is a secret, after all. Oh me, oh my, what a mess..." "My dear Bohring, ye wouldn't happen to be responsible for the profanities we've seen along the walls of the academy, eh? I can understand your frustration with the council's inability to hear you so perhaps you communicated with the living world in the only possible means you could, with horrendous graffiti. Please correct me if I'm wrong." The ghost of Bohring pretended to draw breath in shock. "My word... I have never been more insulted! I would never in a million years wish harm to this institute, and it aches my non-existent heart to see it in such a sorry state. I dedicated my whole life to it, and here I am, dedicating my death to it as well. It is true that I have not trusted a single one of the provosts that came after me, and because of that I have not been able to move on. Those profane scribblings on the walls offend me just as much as they offend Lector. Well, actually nothing feels much of anything to me anymore, but you get what I mean." "Is it your rage for inept Provosts that sustains you on this plane? Perhaps we could rid the school of Lector so that you might seek some rest." "While getting rid of Darlavon Lector is an intriguing thought, it would be futile as another megablock would only follow him to the position. Oooh, did you know that there are statues of all the provosts at the top of the Observatory? My own resemblance stands there as well, in the less-than-honouring company of Antiphone, Gilligan and Focker. The statues guard the greatest treasure this school holds, the Meteor Blade. Of course you cannot get to it, because the way up is blocked by a puzzle most cunning - designed by yours truly, of course. And now the puzzle is in shambles, in any case. The globes are scattered all over the school, and I doubt the likes of you would be smart enough to fix it anyway. But you are free to prove me wrong, so here - have a piece of the puzzle." 1x Half of a Brown Globe - a fractured half of a polished orb with some sort of a map carved on the surface (quest item) "And how were all these demons and undead creatures brought here anyway, a student project gone wrong?" "Certainly not! This institute does not have demonology or necromancy on its curriculum, and neither it will for as long as I haunt these halls! I have had just about enough of our chit-chat, so I will leave you to work out this carnage - you are the ones with actual hands here, after all." With those words, the ghost of Provost Bohring the Enlightened vanished. Party Leader, who will carry the half of a globe? What will the party do next? -Try to call Bohring back -Check the rooms along the hallway -Walk to the door at the other end of the corridor -Return downstairs OoC: Here is the missing picture of the red globe, for your viewing pleasure:
The_Customizer Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Well, perhaps we should have killed those Gargoyles after all.... *sigh* Shall we continue our path?
Etzel Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "Wait! What have happened to Jensen the orc guard?!" Maurice shouts after the ghost. But it's too late. I've got a bad feeling about this. Now we need to find Jensen too, he might be in danger. But first we should check out the doors at this floor, I don't think we did that before the ghost appeared. I'll keep hold of the half brown globe too.

But at any rate, it would be a good idea to check all the doors in this hallway.
Bricksandparts Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 OOC: I will probably not be able to be on EB from saturday to sunday. sorry.
Sandy Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 But first we should check out the doors at this floor, I don't think we did that before the ghost appeared. The party searches the doors, and find more classrooms. In one of them, something sparkles on the floor in the darkness. Upon closer inspection it turns out to be a magical Diamond. Another classroom has a bottle of Grand Potion on the teacher's desk. The party decides to take these valuable items as a bonus for the quest that seems to be more than they signed in for. Party Leader, who will get these items? 1x Diamond – Enables light-elemental spells. 1x Grand Potion – Restores 25 health to the target. There doesn't seem to be any monsters lurking in this hallway. What will the party do next?
Bricksandparts Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "hmm.. spirit, what these globe things for?"
The_Customizer Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Well, that is quite useful for us! A diamond and a Grand Spell (For when I get attacked by spectres again! ) Can we proceed further? Or shall we go to the library?
Jebediahs Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "Aye, there is a final door to open before heading back downstairs."
The_Customizer Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "Aye, there is a final door to open before heading back downstairs." Then let's open it, and discover the adventure awaiting us!
Etzel Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "Oh, a diamond! The gemstone of light!" Maurice gets lost in the glittering and sparkling facets of the diamond... "Oh, sorry...eh, I believe our mage En Sabah Nur should take care of the diamond. He is the one who is able to use it after all. Erdathcath can take the Grand potion in case any spectres shows up again and because she is lowest on health." "Yes, the hallway turned right which should lead us over to the Faculty Offices. The provost said those were restricted but surely we who are on a mission to save the Academy must be permitted to search all areas. It will also right on top of the Library." *winks at Erdathcath*
Jebediahs Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "I...uh..." The use of magic hadn't come easy to the mage. It was true he studied under orc shamans but En Sabah Nur only really excelled at earth magic. His mentors had directed him to a group of dwarves who showed him the path of Orrick. Under the dwarven tutelage, Nur honed his earthen magic and even increased his ability with fire. As a result of his intense studies, Nur had lost his ability to manipulate the other elements. In his hands, the diamond was useless unless...He looked to the cleric. Perhaps in the presence of Ennoc's chosen disciple, Nur would be able to perform a miracle. "I shall attempt to make use of the diamond but if you Ratibor or anyone want it at the end of our mission, I'll gladly give it up. I'd end up selling it anyway."
Etzel Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "I shall attempt to make use of the diamond but if you Ratibor or anyone want it at the end of our mission, I'll gladly give it up. I'd end up selling it anyway." "I can't deny I really desire that fabulous gemstone. I would gladly take it at the end of the quest, but for now I think it's best if you keep it and perhaps with the help of Ennoc, the Righteous Light, you will be able to make use of it too."
Sandy Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 The party walked on, turned right at the corner of the corridor, and came to a large wooden door with a plaque that read "FACULTY ONLY!". True enough, the door was locked. Perhaps the night guard would have the key... Having searched through the entire East Wing, where will the party head next?
Etzel Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "Hm, blasting through the door with Nur's magic would probably not be popular with our client. Let's go back to the entrance hall and search the west wing for Jensen I say. Or we could go down one floor and go to the Library but unless Jensen is there we still need to go search for him to be able to access the Faculty tower later."
Jebediahs Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 "Where'd you want to travel to again Erdathcath, the West Wing? That sounds like the place to go next. Yes, I vote for the West Wing." En Sabah Nur grinned. He brought the Diamond to eye level and looked at it from all sides, wondering exactly how to unlock the secrets within.
The_Customizer Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Too bad we were unable to ask the Spirit where Jensen was attacked by the snake. let's go to the West Wing, and then the Library, perhaps we shall find him there....
