Sandy Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Greetings! We have been sent from Heroica to discover the vandals that have been causing mischief in this great dome of study. What are your names? And do you attend the school? "You boys are into a lot of trouble right now. What are you up to here at the Academy at this time of the night? Speak quickly or I will let Jensen and his bat loosen your tongues." The boy with the blue hair was seemingly more relaxed and outspoken than the boy with the glasses. "Playing good watchman, bad watchman on us, eh?" the boy in blue chuckled. "I'm Ly and this is Nute, and yeah, we study here at the academy. But listen, we're only here to check on the rumours of vandals, just like you guys. We're not behind any of this, you've gotta believe us!" "Y-yes..." the other boy called Nute said. "W-we heard that this started a little over w-w-week ago, right about when Isabeau went missing - Isabeau C-C-Carpenter, that is. Ly said it'd be fun to i-i-investigate this on our own... Oh, p-please don't tell papa!" "Don't be a baby, Nute! They ain't gonna tell!" Ly hushed his friend. "Umm, right?"
The_Customizer Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Well, as it is, we don't know exactly who to trust. How do we know you are telling the truth? And why would you be investigating this by yourselves and without permission? Why not just ask to help investigate?
Etzel Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 "Ly? That's some stupid nickname for Lyren I presume, ain't that right young master Hinckwell? Your story doesn't explain how you got in here to night. All doors were looked from the inside so how did you get in without help?" "And you Nute, or should I say Nuitan? Yes, I know quite a lot about the different families here in Eubric so don't try and fool me boy. What is that talk about somebody missing? Tell us all about it or a word or two about your mischiefs might reach that light-shy dad of your or maybe your elder sister Umbra, I'm sure she would be very interested about your close relationship with that Hinckwell boy."
Sandy Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Well, as it is, we don't know exactly who to trust. How do we know you are telling the truth? And why would you be investigating this by yourselves and without permission? Why not just ask to help investigate? "Come on, it sounded like a good adventure!" Ly exclaimed, spreading his hands. "You know what I mean, you're from Heroica! We didn't know there'd be ghosts and giant snakes and things like that crawling around..." "Ly? That's some stupid nickname for Lyren I presume, ain't that right young master Hinckwell? Your story doesn't explain how you got in here to night. All doors were looked from the inside so how did you get in without help?" "And you Nute, or should I say Nuitan? Tell us all about it or a word or two about your mischiefs might reach that light-shy dad of your or maybe your elder sister Umbra, I'm sure she would be very interested about your close relationship with that Hinckwell boy." The boys look at each other. Nute goes pale. "T-they know... Oh no, they're going to tell papa! I knew it, we're d-d-d-d-d-d-doomed!!!" "Get a hold of yourself, Nute! We've done nothing wrong! Listen, we didn't break in, we just never left. We hid in one of the classrooms in this hallway. We couldn't even try to leave because of those ghosts. And we haven't found out anything, anyway. Well, except this. You can have it, I don't even know what it is." Lyren Hinckwell tosses a half of a globe to the heroes. 1x Half of a Brown Globe (quest item) "W-what comes to Isabeau Carpenter..." Nuitan said, looking at his feet. "Well, she isn't exactly the most p-p-popular person here... S-she comes from a family of carpenters up in R'kilf, who put all their possessions into paying her studies. B-but some of the other students - and faculty - think she was unworthy to study here, so she has gone through a lot of bullying and harassment. So when she disappeared about a week ago, n-nobody didn't even seem to notice... E-except me..." "He's telling the truth", Lyren chimed in. "I sure didn't notice! Isaboo - sorry, Isabeau - is a mousy kinda girl, but really smart. Some of the other rich kids hate her because of it. I don't, because I'm just too damn rich to care about being smart! Ha!" Nuitan Shadeaux rolled his eyes at his friend. "P-please, that is all we know! C-c-can we go now? I have to go get yelled at by Umbra..."
The_Customizer Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Hmm, is that all you boys know? Have you found/seen anything else?
Jebediahs Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 As Erdathcath continued her questioning, En Sabah Nur whispered to Ratibor. "Well done handling those boys. I was about to draw my blade to get them to speak. You're a wise one, cleric. It's a good thing we have you leading this quest."
Etzel Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 "Thanks for those kind words Nur!" Maurice Ratibor was pleased. What he lacked in fighting skill he seemed to make up in interrogation. He put the half of the globe together with the rest, now they had collected one red globe, one black globe and 2 halves of a brown globe. Maurice wondered how many of these there were, they knew of at least one more which was guarded by those gargoyles. "When you are finished with questioning these rascals Erdathcath, I think we should quickly search the other classrooms here on the floor and then follow the boys out to the Entrance Hall. I'm not going to tell your parents but I can't leave out your part in tonight's events in my report to the provost, do you understand?"
Sandy Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Hmm, is that all you boys know? Have you found/seen anything else? The pair of youngsters swore they had told everything they knew, so the party decided to escort them out - but not before taking a glance at the classrooms along the second floor hallway of the West Wing. Unlike in the East Wing, the doors here did not lead to any other part of the academy. The only way to the Observatory - which was located high up in a tower - was through the first floor Planetarium. The search resulted in the finding of a total of two Crystal Balls and one Grand Tonic. Party Leader, how will these items be divided? 2x Crystal Ball - Worth 50 gold, except in magic shops where it’s worth 100 gold. 1x Grand Tonic – Restores 15 ether to the target. The party all but kicked the adventurous teenagers out of the main doors. Now they were back at the Entrance Hall. Where would they head next? - The Library on the first floor of the East Wing - The Faculty Offices on the second floor of the East Wing - The Planetarium on the first floor of the West Wing - Back to the Atrium to the north
The_Customizer Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Well, that went well...... So, is it onto the Library?
Etzel Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 "Alf and Erdathcath, take a Crystal Ball each. Nur, you have more need of a Grand tonic then me, but if you want we can share it. If you give me one of your small ones you can get this one. Sounds like a deal?" "Yes Erdathcath, we will finally go to your beloved Library."
The_Customizer Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 "Alf and Erdathcath, take a Crystal Ball each. Nur, you have more need of a Grand tonic then me, but if you want we can share it. If you give me one of your small ones you can get this one. Sounds like a deal?" "Yes Erdathcath, we will finally go to your beloved Library." Yeah! Maybe we'll find some more "investigators" in there.... And, maybe we'll find some info on how these Spectres got in here...
Jebediahs Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 "Sounds fine." Nur trades Ratibor 1 tonic for a grand tonic.
Bricksandparts Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 "Thank for glowy crystal!" Alf takes the crystal and smiles.

It looks messy, but not unusually so. There are no ghosts or other malevolent spirits present. There are doors leading back to the East Wing, to the Atrium and onwards to the Auditorium. What will the party do next?
Etzel Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 "I guess it was foolish of me to presuppose that there would be access up to the Faculty Office from the Library. That means we must go back to the the East wing and up to the second floor to get there. Or do anyone else has another idea of where to go next?"
Jebediahs Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 "Well Erdathcath it appears we're too late or nobody's been here all night. I'm ready to go to the Faculty Offices Ratibor." En Sabah Nur walked around the table and flipped through a few pages of a random book. His eyes locked on one of the magnifying glasses used for reading. Nur peeked at his companions before he attempted to pocket a magnifying glass.
The_Customizer Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Wait! What about the auditorium? That was my original intention of going through the Library. Also, before we leave we should check any doors that might be in here.
Sandy Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 "Well Erdathcath it appears we're too late or nobody's been here all night. I'm ready to go to the Faculty Offices Ratibor." En Sabah Nur walked around the table and flipped through a few pages of a random book. His eyes locked on one of the magnifying glasses used for reading. Nur peeked at his companions before he attempted to pocket a magnifying glass. Thanks to Nur's observativeness, the party finds not one, but two magnifying glasses. Patry leader, how will these be divided? 2x Magnifying Glass - Allows the hero to see trap triggers. Wait! What about the auditorium? That was my original intention of going through the Library. Also, before we leave we should check any doors that might be in here. Like the party already knows, the library has doors to the Auditorium, the Atrium and the East Wing. There are no other doors in it.
The_Customizer Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Oh, ok. Then men (and ladies) let's journey onward to the Auditorium!
Etzel Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 "Nice find Nur! Of course you should have one and the other you can give to Alf, I think he will like that." Wait! What about the auditorium? That was my original intention of going through the Library. Also, before we leave we should check any doors that might be in here. "Then we will have a very long way back to the Faculty Office. But I guess we can do it later. I think it's time we teach those gargoyles a lesson soon too, maybe after the next room."
Jebediahs Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) "Ah, yes. Look what I found." Nur chuckled nervously as Jensen stared in his direction. "I know this will come in handy, thank you." Nur's mind flashed back to the ceiling that collasped on him during the Donny Dozenhands mission and the tripwire he failed to see. "Let's hope I remember to use it." "Where to again, the Faculty Offices?" Edited October 25, 2011 by Jebediahs
Etzel Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 "Where to again, the Faculty Offices?" "Yes, let's go with that!"
Sandy Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 The party decided to make its way to the second floor of the East Wing. There they came to the locked door again, but thanks to having Jensen accompany them, it was opened in a jiffy. The five of them entered the Faculty Offices. Things looked orderly in there. The furniture was much more ornate and expensive than anywhere else inside the academy. The center-piece of the offices was inarguably the large mirror than hung on the wall. Much to their surprise, the party heard the unmistakable dry voice of Bohring the Enlightened again. "...Secret..." the ghostly provost whispered. What would the party do next?
