larry marak Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 But like I said on their site, my data is from back in 2001. They may have changed since then. I only really started collecting Megabloks in early 2001 and since then I've never had any sort of quality problem with them. Although, I haven't bought a Megabloks set in over a year because it seems they've abandoned the Probuilder series 2 new probuilder sets are now out, both Iraq war themed sets scaled for the use of minifigs, and they come with minifigs using the new industry standard of jointed elbows and knee for minifigs. The Pyrates and Dragons have become hobbies in their own right, especially among role-players. Quote

alex54 Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Like a lot of eurobrickers, I don't hate MB fans, but MB, yes! I never had some MB and I don't want one, never! My brother has one baril set and I discovered the LEGO quality! The MB pieces look so poor, and the bricks don't conect very well, and it is worts after a year of using them! And no comments about the MBfigs, so horrible! Maybe I'm a lego fan because I grew up with this brand... but I don't regret that! Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 After reading this topic I had another look at MB on the way home from work yesterday. Still nothing I would be tempted with, not even a lil' bit tempted :) But found something interesting, they also had another clone... 'ABRICKS'! Anyone heard of them? they seem to have even less studs than MB on the pieces, if that's possible. Are these the 'AsianBricks' I've read about occasioanly, or maybe 'AnothercloneBricks'. How many clones are there out there?? puts me off ordering from ebay just in case someone sneaks in a whole bunch of clone bricks. Peter Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I was suprised to learn on that MBs site that the bricks called TENTE are still around! They've apparently changed hands over the years, at one point even being owned by Hasbro. Oh, I still remember those days back in the 70's... me in the car, literally CUTTING and POKING myself with their sharp, pointy parts on a space set while my brother sat next to me playing with his official Lego stuff. Zarkan Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Natalie! You really stretched my screen! Next time, put links, okay? :-P Hm, with the new pictures of Exo-force and Aquaraiders for 2007, Megabloks will be less important to me in 2007. I still will probably pick up the Dragons Battlestorm castle, though, and have another set in mind for Christmas. Lego really is laying down the gauntlet, though! ~~END~~ Quote
Hobbes Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Natalie! You really stretched my screen! Next time, put links, okay? :-P :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D Sorry, but that just cracked me up! Too bad I'm not responsible for titles >:-) Quote
PaulC Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Why can't Lego and Mega Bloks just get along? :) http://members.lycos.co.uk/legoville/lego/...506customz.html Quote

PaulC Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Thanks Hobbes, actually that's my own Website. X-D My opinion is that I prefer Lego because it's far more flexible in the different types of models that can be built, but Mega Bloks do some FANTASTIC sets, especially Nano and ProBuilder. All builders should be able to borrow ideas from each other! Quote
Hobbes Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Thanks Hobbes, actually that's my own Website. X-D Oh... hehe... should have checked the home page :-$ My opinion is that I prefer Lego because it's far more flexible in the different types of models that can be built, but Mega Bloks do some FANTASTIC sets, especially Nano and ProBuilder. All builders should be able to borrow ideas from each other! I don't see a problem borrowing ideas, either - if the customers do it, not the companies ;-) As for the quality: I do think LEGO has problems and to me it looks like quality is degrading. We'll see if that trend continues now that production has been outsorced. It's still way superior to MB, though. I have very few MB bricks among some lots I bought in the past and they stick out for a blind man to see... Quote
