Waterbrick Down Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Atramor's search only earns him a stange look from Mandrel, but he quickly moves away to study the potion cabinet with Glorfindel. Inside Atramor spots the Snow Ruby of Helvetia, however the cabinet is locked on both sides with two latches one on the right and one on the left. "Excuse me what do you think you are doing?" "What does it look like he's doing baking a cake?" "Well I was just asking a perfectly reasonable question." "You haven't asked a reasonable question since the Orcish wars." To Atramor's suprise the two golem totems on top of the cabinet are addressing him. How shall the party reply?
Waterbrick Down Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 (edited) What are you? "We are imprisoned brothers of Saint Zalzabar the Barbarian turned into heathen idols" "Since when? My brother's got it all wrong, we're voodoo dolls from the Waldurkian Forest" "Alright, which one of you guys has/is the key?" Mandrel shouts over at the party, "You're wasting your time, that cabinet's never been locked. Mandrel has just never had the nerve to choose a door to open. Just ask those two bozo's. One of those door's will let you in, the other supposedly unleashes a doom of all dooms! One of them is always telling the truth the other is always lying, I just don't know which one is which." "My door is the right one, that rock faced buffoon is just a liar." "No my door is the right one, his leads to certain doom. Don't listen to his lies." What shall the Party do? Edited November 3, 2011 by Waterbrick Down
CMP Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Atramor rubs his eyes. "Right could mean the right side door or the correct door. I'm thinking left."
Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 That sounds logical, one thing though, aren't both of you rock-faced?
Waterbrick Down Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Mandrel walks over to the party. "Mandrel's asked before, right means "correct" not direction."
CMP Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 (edited) Atramor rubs his eyes harder. "How are supposed to know which door they're talking about?" Edited November 3, 2011 by CallMePieOrDie
Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 OOC: Does the Heroica board game which they come in mean anything?
soccerkid6 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I vote for the left door, he looks more trustworthy. But first let me try my skill of diplomacy Alright which one of the doors opens the cabinet? The one underneath you with the chain or you with the white skin?
Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Wait, I might have a breakthrough. Which one would the other twin take?
Jedi master Brick Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Elgar scratched his head and looke on as the others tried to solve the riddle. He was not good at riddles so he was satisfied to sit on the sidelines.
Waterbrick Down Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Wait, I might have a breakthrough. Which one would the other twin take? "That would depend if I wanted him dead or alive." QM Note: The dark grey text corresponds to the dark grey statue which corresponds to opening the right hand door. The lighter grey text corresponds to the light grey statue which corresponds to opening the left hand door.
Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Here's a question for both twins, do you lie?
Jedi master Brick Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Here's a question for both twins, do you lie? Elgar looked up and stated " If they say yes, they lie if they say no they might lie. We do have to be careful about what they say"
Waterbrick Down Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Here's a question for both twins, do you lie? "Never" "Of course not."
Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 This is crazy! Ok, if you wanted us to succeed, which door would the other pick? For both of you.
Waterbrick Down Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 (edited) "My brother would certainly pick the left hand door as it leads to the doom of all dooms" "Balderdash, I would never pick the left hand door. No matter, we all know my brother's a liar and thus he would pick the left hand door." Edited November 4, 2011 by Waterbrick Down
Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I think we can infer the probably safe door is the right hand door because if one of them is telling the truth, they'll say the liar will take the left hand door leading us to doom of dooms and the liar would also take the left hand doors because he's lying. What do you think Atramor?
CMP Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Atramor thinks for a second, and nods once. "Fair enough. And I'd almost rather have a fight with the doom of dooms rather than untangle this mess..." Atramor tries to open the right door.
soccerkid6 Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Sounds reasonable, and I am also tired of this riddle. Let us see what happens.
Waterbrick Down Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 "Wait wait, did I tell you that both of us are liars? How about that Cronk is Wren's Favorite? No don't open that door, it leads to the doom of all do..." "Oh shut it Seymour, they figured it out." Atramor reaches to the right side door and undoes the latch. Seconds later doom free, he pulls out the Snow Ruby of Helvetia. Snow Ruby of Helvetia x1 - Quest Item Mandrel reaches into the cabinet as well, "At long last, the last jar of pickled basilisk tails. They've been in that cabinet for 2 years and Mandrel hasn't had the guts to get 'em out. Is there anything else Mandrel can do for you gentlemen?" What will the Party do next?
Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 My reasoning worked! (Now I'm an alchemist and a detective!)
CMP Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Atramor pockets the gem. "Good work, Glorf. And no, I think that will be all." Atramor once again pulls out his Magic Compass, and attempts to locate Julian.
