Rumble Strike Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Tarn was highly suspicious of the alchemist's motives. Tesni had been right to be suspicious, no good could come from messing around with those ingredients. He imagined her taking control in her own unique way, using her sword to good effect on this doctor. He put that rather entertaining image out of his head to address Doctor Mynatt. "Sir, I find it astounding that you are willing to risk an outbreak of a highly dangerous plague purely on the whim of one of your customers. No amount of alchemical safety procedures would ever make the virus not a threat to the local population. We will certainly keep looking for Julian but we will need to discuss amonst ourselves whether to release the ingredients to you now that we know what they are being used for." He looked at Atramor, hoping the Rogue party leader would back him up on this, as it seemed to be the view of the majority of the party.
CMP Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Atramor glanced at Tarn. "Remember, mate, Julian has the Hippocamp Tears and the Fractation Columns. He won't be able to kill off the entire island with just that." His mind slipped to an outbreak of Crazed Monkey Syndrom back on Dreida, years before. It only affected monkeys, but dang, a thousand insane primates swarming the port....he shuddered.
soccerkid6 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) Unless his clients have Julian and those ingredients; so when we give him the stuff we got he gives it to them and they contaminate everyone. I think you should try your compass once more while thinking of Julian. It has to work at some point. And once we find him it should be a lot easier to figures this mess out. I put my nostrum into my sword and decide to give it a name Edited November 6, 2011 by soccerkid6
Jedi master Brick Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Elgar stated now there is a plague involed they deserve double pay and groaned about the rain
soccerkid6 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) Using my diplomacy skill I ask some questions Dr. have you ever heard of the Blood Paw gang? Do you really think someone would want a sample of a plague just because they happen to collect samples of plagues? If they did why would they be in such a hurry to get the ingredients? You tell us Julian's blood may be on our hands if we don't save him. What about all the people this plague could kill, do you really want all their blood on your hands? Don't you realize how much is at stake here? Now do you realize why we need to know who you are working for? Julian is quite likely captured by your employers, if you want us to save him we are going to need to know what we are up against. Also we need to have a look at the ransom note. The formulist now looking quite annoyed responds, "My good sir I am not an idiot. Do you zink I would give such a powerful weapon to some sociopaz? I can ensure you my patron eez a respectable if somehwat reclusive collector and financier, I would never doubt zeir intentions or suspect zem of such dasterdliness as kidnapping. Besides hwat good hwould it do zem, I already knew the scope of my research and was already going to provide zem wiz ze sample. But what do I get from you? Question after question after question, hwen all zis time, ze boy's life eez in peril! If you must still prolong zis audience, here take a look at ze note. As for ze Blood Paw gang, zey are just hoodlums terrorizing ze local establishments and zey are two imbecile to concoct a scheme such as zis." The party inspects the note and sees that it is only your average ransom note, no clues in the wording, demands, paper, or ink can be found. Edited November 6, 2011 by Waterbrick Down
soccerkid6 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Surely the ransom note said where to put the money. Maybe we can set a trap.
Waterbrick Down Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Dr. Mynatt shakes his head, "Zat eez ze worst of it, ze note appears to have ripped in ze coming storm and aside from ze amount of gold, ze information about hwere to deliver eet has been lost."
soccerkid6 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Excuse us for being so suspicous Dr. But it is rather startling to find out someone is recreating the gray plague! One more question, does Julian make any money working for you? Turning to the group I whisper I still think there is something fishy about making the plague, but we can probably get more cooperation from him if we pretend to trust him. Maybe we should head to Mandrel's and see if there is anything special about the turban he bought.
Rumble Strike Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Tarn nodded enthusiastically at Sir Glorfindel's last suggestion. The fact that Julian had bought a turban at Mandrel's Curiousity Shop had intrigued the young Barbarian since he had heard of it. In no other shops was Julian credited with buying something other than the ingredients needed for the Guild. Perhaps the turban was a clue to where he had gone or been taken? Tarn thought it was worth checking.
Waterbrick Down Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 "Obviously, you are know alchemist. You would be surprised ze stange things people comission ze guild for. Julian is payed a small amount every 8 days, besides zat he is treated almost as family wizin ze guild." With their questions answered, the Party once again treks through the now muddy streets to Mandrel's curiosities shop. The rain has stopped and the storm passes on as they enter the orc's shop. "Hello there again, have heroes found Mandrel's friend Julian yet?"
soccerkid6 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) No not yet, was there anything special about the turban he bought? And is it usually worn by a certain group of people? Edited November 7, 2011 by soccerkid6
Waterbrick Down Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) "His hat? It was just an ornate white turban that Julian had taken a fancy too, nothing special. If it had been, Mandrel have charged him much more for it. Only thing special is color was bright white." Edited November 7, 2011 by Waterbrick Down
soccerkid6 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 How much did it cost? And when did he first mention wanting it? Is there any sort of group that uses a white turban to signify membership?
Waterbrick Down Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 "The turban was only worth 20 Gold and Mandrel thinks Julian spotted it 4 weeks past. Mandrel does not know of any group associated with turban. Mandrel thinks it just another hat."
Jedi master Brick Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Elgar thought and then said "The heroica library may have information on the gangs of the city. We could take a break and check in the library. Or we could go to fort Bonaparte and speak to them."
CMP Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Atramor rubs his chin in thought. "One last question...where did you get the turban?"
Waterbrick Down Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 "Mandrel got turban from overseas in Ennon, labor cheaper there. Haberdashers in port too expensive."
CMP Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Atramor blinks, as a sudden, vivid thought returns to his mind. "We need to go back to Shrooft's."
Waterbrick Down Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 With Atramor's quick jolt of inspiration, The Party quickly bids goodbye to Mandrel and heads toward the used bookshop. Evening is drawing near and the bookstore is dark, however the Party finds the door of the shop unlocked and the store apparently unoccupied. Hesitantly the Party enters the back storeroom. CMP Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Atramor looks through the turban real quick, and pockets it just in case. "I think we need to look through these catacombs."
Waterbrick Down Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Entering the catacombs, the Party's eyes adjust to the darkness, but a dank and chill wind assults their every step. Before them lies two paths. Shall they go Straight or Right?
CMP Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Atramor slams his Magic Compass against the rock wall, and attempts to locate Julian. "Worth one last try..."
Waterbrick Down Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) Miraculously, Atramor's compass would have worked if he had not slammed it against the wall points unwaveringly to the right. Edited November 8, 2011 by Waterbrick Down
