I agree. But looking at the past this isn't very likely. For years the 8868 Air Tech Claw Rig was the only set which featured a compressor. This might be the same for the 8110 Unimog.

Ohh haha wow that's a huge project. Its good that TLG produced more mini cylinders so now the price will not be as high for each one! Maybe the next years flagship will be a all pneumatic model.

You could argue that 8049 also had a compressor, and that wasn't all that long ago. I know that there was no PF elements in this set, but it had the small pump and instructions for how to rebuild it using 8293, creating a compressor.

Speaking of compressors, when building one with multiple cylinders, is it better to connect them with identical stroke or with an offset, assuming you connect them with a T-piece? I'm fairly sure offset = worse (cause they'll simply be filling each other) but I might be missing something.

If that were the case the compressor wouldn't work at all. They have a one-way-valve for this. Without that, you wouldn't be able to use pneumatics at all. It is better to set the cylinders at an offset. This ensures a more constant flow of compressed air. In case of 2 compressors give 180 degrees ofset (a crank peace). In case of try to create 90 degrees offset between each cylinder. This isn't easy.

I remember building one in the past with an offset that didn't work too well..but I'll have to try it.

Personally, I dislike the label "linear actuator" and I'm not sure who started calling them that. Both systems use linear actuators. One is pneumatic and the other is mechanical, so "mechanical actuator" or "screw actuator" would be a much better name.

I think that term actually came from TLG themselves. That's how they were labeled on the boxes and catalogs when they first appeared in 2008.

i'm still kicking myself for failing to purchase the 8455 backhoe a few years ago. what an introduction to pneumatics that set would have made. i've been waiting for another set as good as that one to get me into pneumatics. still waiting....

I got one back then, but I wish I had bought additional copies. It was not only chock full of pneumatic elements but was priced extremely low by today's standards, at just $100.

I'll brag here, and say that my copy of 8455 was the best ebay deal I've ever had..

I was browsing one night, and came across one listed.. with a Buy it Now, of AUD$50!!

...and it had only been listed for less than 20 minutes!

needless to say, I couldn't click that button quick enough! :)

that's a good deal! I also got that set when it first came out. I got the set when i was about 10 i think and needless to say i had to build it 2 times to get it working well.
