Orlego Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Nice columns could nonly be really cool. Not to mention it will also help in building curches and so on... Yeah, tons of white bricks. Damn, now I'm all excited about a Roman theme.
jonfett Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Well theres going to be a big hole to fill in late 2007 when the star wars sets stop, so lets hope they give us more themes like the ones that you guys have already suggested. :) Maybe then we will see a new space theme, it would make sense it if was replacing Star Wars. Jon.
Orlego Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Lets not get tooo far in the future ;) Lets just hope next year will bring us the Romans! :D
Jipay Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Well, I'm first curious to see those new viking sets. So bad it's coming in september, I could have bought those from Canada :(

The Middleman Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I think they should do a Greek 'myths and legends' thing, since the Greek army wasn't really anything to speak of, with the minotaur and Icarus and Daedelus and Hercules and all those good people. It'd be right up LEGO's alley. I also think they should do a Roman 'legion' theme, with armies and buildings and such. Just because of the feathery helmets. You gotta love those feathery helmets. They really need to get into the army - you can't pretend modern war doesn't exist - and start including realistic pistols/rifles in their sets again. Just rate them 16+ or whatever and nobody complains. I wish they'd have picked up Lord of the Rings, but it's a bit late for that now. They have a good shot with HP Goblet of Fire, they get to do dragons and merpeople and, of course, the graveyard scene with our beloved Voldemort. ;) I think it'd be COOL if they got involved with A Series of Unfortunate Events, but I just don't see it happening. And, of course, REGULAR BUILDINGS. Let's go over City so far; - a police station to protect people - a fire station to protect people - construction workers to build things for people But WHERE DO THE PEOPLE WORK? Where do they LIVE? City isn't much without things like 'Cafe' or 'Bookstore' or who knows what else. And we need road plates that match up with the new plates as well. That are available individually, preferably in bulk. I guess for the meantime the firefighters are stuck saving the burning police station and the police cars are stuck on the one available road plate... |-D

Lego could do so much with the city theme. A Cafe, bookstore, parking garage, post office, new gas stations, parks, etc... The possibilities are endless. They could also do a ton of things with the train theme. Model trains are still very popular and it is a multi-billion dollar industry. Lego could make DCC controllers, RCS type controlled rail lights and crossings, light-up streetlight and RCS controlled street signals. They could also make bridge kits, tunnels, and expand the track selection to include at least 3 different types of curve track and other specialty track pieces. Oh, and let us not forget about the fully functional round house. Just imagine how great it would be if Lego stepped up the City and train themes. You would be able to build one nice train display.
Jipay Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Well reasearch and developpment is a high cost in an endustry. On one people are complaining Lego is having too many themes and on the other one they complein they don't release enough. Let's just give time for lego to release new stuff :) They are on the right way so far with 2005 *satis*

ApophisV Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Dudes: Always remember that al sets are mostly made for kids... It sure would be cool to see several different stores and whatever, but would it be the same for some kid that wants to spend some spare money on a radnom Lego set? I don't think so... It would be more interested in some police car instead of a cafeteria.... ;) So I don't think that there are enough consumers to sell such many city sets well.... (unfortunately... :( ) Besides this: You always can build your own houses and shops and whatever for your train dioramas... ;) Erm and Greeks and Romans would be wonderful!!!! :oD

(unfortunately... :( ) I have to disagree on that... Lego made a cafeteria, an oil station and even a parking few years ago. Not to mention 4 or 5 different houses. So, I think it could be ok :)
ApophisV Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Yes, but only in the case that there is besides the fire station, the police station and some vehicles JUST a cafeteria... I don't think that a whole range of such civic products will succeed...
Jipay Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Yeah they need other sets to support them. But I think has released a fire station or police station every 2 years at least so there is hope for something else to come :)
Wolf04 Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 LEGO used to release Hospitals, Houses, Restaurants and other sets (Pizza to go, Main Street, Airport) and they have been brought back because they were popular. What makes you think kids won't like them? It is the same with the Train Engine Shed and the Rail Crossing. They're basic sets and while they may not be as "exciting" as a Fire Station, they are nicely detailed and I think popular. If LEGO released them in stores, it would probably be even more popular. Oh, and what about the Blacksmith Shop. I think that was a smash hit, too bad it's not available anymore.
Jipay Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Well yeah it's true but I dunno if kids are the same today... Just one thing : Lego has never been used to release hospital. They only released something like 2 or 3 :(
Vader Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Yeah i expect that those vikings, you know the ones that this topic is about ;) really do need a hospital :-D ;)
The Middleman Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Well the had an great medcine...... Beer ;) But we won't be getting LEGO beer! What'll they do with Vikings, anyway? We'll get a few ships, no doubt about that. A village, maybe? What do you think?
DoubleT Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Well for me a ship is great for me :) and village would be ultra great ;)
The Middleman Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Maybe we'll get an enemy of some sort! After all, they basically just raided and plundered.
DoubleT Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Well yes that is what the Viking are famous fore.. But they actuly also spent alot of time trading with other place, about a litle more half of all exspeditions they made was for trading or exsploring.. And the biggest enemy a viking had, was.....yes another viking
Vader Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 All they need to give us is 2 different viking leaders and a few ships really, but a village would be amazing :)
