I have been toying with this idea for a while of making a LEGO transformer. I wanted to start simple so my first transformer is Optimus Prime. There seems to be a surge of AFOL/TFOL's making Optimus Prime recently but I still feel I couldn't make transformers without making their iconic leader!

Here he is in truck mode, unfortunately he cannot fit a minifig (or the Matrix of leadership :sceptic:)

Here is his robot mode, sporting his ion blaster.

And here is a close up of his head, I like this head but I feel it still needs those spikes that come out of the sides of his head.

That is my Generation One Optimus Prime! Thanks for looking and any comments and criticism is appreciated.

His arms look way to thin and flimsy, but the fact that he is able to transform is awesome. He looks spot on in truck form.

Very nice, I don't think there could ever be too many Optimus Prime MOC's.

Wow, nice MOC. The only criticism I have about it is the size of his arms. They look way too small to be Optimus Prime.

I find the arms a major short coming in this MOC as well. I was trying to figure out any ways to make them chunkier, even by one stus, but the only way I could figure out was by thinning out the entire front chassis, Then he would of looked too thin by himself! However i'll persevere and thanks for the C and C!

I will never get tired of seeing Optimus in LEGO form

Very nice - and bonus cool points for actually transforming!

With regards to the arms - have you considered using a 1x2 instead of 1x1s? it looks like truck form there is still enough space between his arm and the wheel.

and once he's in robot form, rotate the 1x2 so that the 2 stud wide section faces us - thus effectively doubling the arm space.

(also - awesome smoke stacks)

Hello!

Again, a smoothly transforming vehicle. :classic: I am not so a fan of the old transparent windows here. While it looks okay for the truck, I find it more irritating for the robot. Maybe you could replace them with something black, like TLC does ot for the windscreens of the Racers. This element could work. :classic:

That looks awesome. I have an old Optimus Prime transformer in storage that I played with a lot when I was little and thats pretty much right on. I wouldnt change the windows, i think thats an excellent way to duplicate the windshield from the toy.

As others have said, the arms are a little bit of an issue, but i think it'd be next to impossible to fix because of the proportions of Lego bricks. It would look better if it was 6 wide, but then you'd lose those windows which I think look awesome.

The back is different from my toy, but the back on my toy was rather plain and only had a hitch for the attached trailer.

The arms and the fact that I paid no attention to his back are my main problems.
