Jipay Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 This theme might interest some pirate fans as it contains some old lego elements such as coins and musquets. See it here Quote
El Bucanero Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 It is good to see the skeleton with the mean face again, they are quite rare. Quote
Deinonychus Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Hmmm... Designer + Alpha Team Mission Deep Sea x Vikings = Aquaraiders I'm eager to see the other sets now...that'll help me decide if these are gonna be worth the money as a complete theme or just worth getting a couple cool ones Quote

Hmmmm... But how useful will the sets be to the Pirate fanatics? I'm thinking probably no more useful than Aquanaughts/Aquasharks and a bit less useful than Divers and Adventurers. Although the crab might appeal for those looking for such a beast to terrorise their seas. Mr Ghoulrealm might get excited by that given he's made several in the past. Quote

Although the crab might appeal for those looking for such a beast to terrorise their seas. Mr Ghoulrealm might get excited by that given he's made several in the past. Yes sir. It has my attention all right. The crab is looking pretty good so far, except for the legs. The peices they used don't appeal to me, as legs. I have a few alternatives in mind, if they don't change the design. They may not be too useful to pirate mocing, but's it's getting closer. It also depends on how much subsurface marine elements you can incorporate into your pirate mocings. As for the subs, they are cool but not much use for pirates. The best element on them is the trident for some kind of mythical Neptune moc or statues and figureheads. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 14, 2006 Governor Posted September 14, 2006 Are they new seaweed pieces that are growing near that pizza look thing situated on the rock? Quote
Hobbes Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Are they new seaweed pieces that are growing near that pizza look thing situated on the rock? It's some bionicle pieces... Quote
Jipay Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 It's no pizza, that's a plate with some gems in it. Time to change your computer screen X-D And let's not forget that we didn't see the biggest set yet. They might have included some neat treasures ! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 14, 2006 Governor Posted September 14, 2006 Or perhaps its time to get bigger images because I first looked at them on different computer and when I got home they didn't look any better. Or maybe its my head that is the problem... Quote
Jipay Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 Well bigger images might solve the problem of course :-) As for the head... ;-) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 14, 2006 Governor Posted September 14, 2006 When will these set be released? I assume more (and better) pictures will be available as time progresses. Quote
Jipay Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 They are part of the first release for 2007. Expect them to arrive in january, maybe even earlier depending on who will make a release mistake first X-D My guess is that since we saw the first pictures, Lego will provide high quality ones for an "I-don't-know-what-event" soon (ie toy fairs). Governor Mister Phes Posted September 14, 2006 Governor Posted September 14, 2006 Errr... King Jipay, the first part of the second sentence doesn't make sense to me (and possibly others) so could you revise it slightly? Quote
Jipay Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 I forgot the word "guess". I think they will release new pictures at a convention of some sort. Quote
oo7 Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 From the three pictures we have now you might say these Aqua Raiders sets don't look to usefull for pirates now, but let's not foget one of these sets is going to be a shipwreck! Quote
Captain Roger Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Aquaraiders is one of the worse LEGO system themes...you say it have interesting pices for pirates fans but i think the tresure is the only interesting accesorie...other pieces are from submarines and divers...and that pieces couldn't work in pirates MOCs Quote

Aquaraiders is one of the worse LEGO system themes...you say it have interesting pices for pirates fans but i think the tresure is the only interesting accesorie...other pieces are from submarines and divers...and that pieces couldn't work in pirates MOCs I agree with these laddies - there is no way someone fanatical about pirates would buy these sets for the pieces. It would probably be simpler and cheaper just to obtain them from eBay or BrickLink. However, those wishing to add aquatic beasties to their pirate adventures might find use for them. I'm not one for BBB (Yikes! I've created an accronym I hate so dearly) but for those who are, this shark my appeal: Quote
Jipay Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 you might forget something important here. First and as mentioned there is a shipwreck, and all the clues from other sets are indicating this set might be a pirate thing. Then there will be kids who will be playing with the few pirate accessories in the sets, and might join the pirate fans in the future... Quote

Then there will be kids who will be playing with the few pirate accessories in the sets, and might join the pirate fans in the future... My fingers are crossed for a complete set of hull pieces (a bow, stern, and at least 1 midsection). Please, oh please be a classic hull! Quote
Starwars4J Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 If anything I would think that even with a shipwreck, this series will be fairly worthless to pirate fans. Even if you're getting it for Mr. Phes' "Brick Built Beasties", the cost:part ratio is skewed due to the rest of the set! Indeed, it would be cheaper to download the instructions and buy the parts yourself for things like that, and I'm sure most MOCers could make better ones on their own anyway. As much as I'll enjoy this line, it's another pass for the Pirate fanatics. However, I think this is one more step in the inevitable road back to true pirate :-D (What, me posting in the Pirate forum?! Well, stranger things have happened...) Quote
Jipay Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 Well it shows they still have the molds lol. And I can't recall what was the last system set with coins :-| Quote
El Bucanero Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Well it shows they still have the molds lol. My fingers are crossed for a complete set of hull pieces (a bow, stern, and at least 1 midsection). Please, oh please be a classic hull! I am almost sure that they won't use the 4+ pieces, they may use old molds, but maybe they will just use the pieces from the Imperial Trading Post cutter :-( Quote
Jipay Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 because the only modls that were broken are the monorail ones... *sad* Quote
snefroe Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 because the only modls that were broken are the monorail ones... *sad* that 's a weird story... broken monorail molds? don't think so. Lego said that all old molds get destroyed after their operational life. that's why some of the parts of the old days can't be produced anymore, that's why some legend parts had been replaced by new parts. i'm thinking that they'll keep the molds for about 10-15 years or so and then they're gone. And even if they have old molds, it seems unlikely that they will use those again at one point. My guess is that they just produce new molds according to the specifications of the old mold, but that would have to mean that the software that goes along with the actual mold is also still out there... in any case, now that the production is in the hands of an entirely new producer, it seems unlikely that they'll be using old molds again... Quote
Jipay Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 Well there are obviously some old molds involved into the new exo force sets. And not all the production has been transfered... As for the monorail Lego at one point that there would be no new monorail sets because the molds were broken. But we're degressing as it is a pirate forum X-D Quote
