Scouty Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I like the looks of the new aquaraiders sets. It looks like a couple pirate remanents in these sets. i.e. treasure chest. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 16, 2006 Governor Posted September 16, 2006 you might forget something important here. First and as mentioned there is a shipwreck, and all the clues from other sets are indicating this set might be a pirate thing. Then there will be kids who will be playing with the few pirate accessories in the sets, and might join the pirate fans in the future... That is a good point, where can we learn more of this shipwreck set? I haven't checked the other thread yet so I'm posting in ignorance. Quote
ghoulrealm Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 ... where can we learn more of this shipwreck set? I haven't checked the other thread yet so I'm posting in ignorance. Translations of the info for non-German people:7776 Shipwreck The two deep sea divers try to save sunk treasures from ship wrecks with the magnetic collecting arm of the submarine. They should pay attention to the poisonous sea-striking and collapsing masts! 29.99 "Collapsing masts" catches my attention! It indicates that it is based on a wooden sailing vessel, assuming that the magnetic arm is for metalic treasures and not for moving steel bulkheads. Considering it has a mast, and the musket from the other set, we can be fairly assured it's preindustrial era. But who knows what state the wreck is in. The price of $29.99 must include the sub, some kind of poisonous creature, and the remnants of a ship. That may limit the amount of parts used for the ship. Quote

The most recent pirate ship was the legend and that's already a few years ago... kids need to be inspired by Lego-built pirate ships, they need to have a context in which these things are presented... Governor Mister Phes Posted September 16, 2006 Governor Posted September 16, 2006 This is another good point, where can we see pictures of this shipwreck set? Quote
snefroe Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 This is another good point, where can we see pictures of this shipwreck set? i think it's 7776, but we don't have pics yet... it's only 30 euro, so don't expect too much..., it's not going to be a classic pirate ship... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 16, 2006 Governor Posted September 16, 2006 So we should be expecting a sunk Skulls Eye Schooner? Anyway, lets not forget the existing Pirate sets 6269 Shipwrecked and 6271 Pirates Perilous Pitfall which already had shipwrecks! Not that these shipwrecks were very good so it will be interesting to see if these Aquaraiders can do any better. Quote
Berry Syedow Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Perhaps I am in the minority among pirate fanatics, but I think the Aqua Raiders theme is shaping up to be great. It has minimal juniorization for a system theme and as oo7, said, we Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 17, 2006 Governor Posted September 17, 2006 If I was going to collect another theme it would be Classic Castle, Western or Adventurers - Aquaraiders would miss out because I've aqcuired plenty of pieces from eBay and Bricklink. However this shark interests me because of the greys being used... What shade is the lighter grey? It looks too dark to be that newer light grey. Quote
Brick Miner Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 If I was going to collect another theme it would be Classic Castle, Western or Adventurers *sweet* i asked you this last week in a thread in the H&A forum (one of your responses in a Brickster topic spured my questioning)... but i should have figured id never see a response in a non-pirate thread :-| ;-) :-P CC, WW, Adventurers... well, if you even need any inspiration. ;-) :-D - BrickMiner Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 18, 2006 Governor Posted September 18, 2006 I responded about 5 times in that thread so there you should have seen 5 responses in a non pirate thread. Quote
Brick Miner Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 and that you did !!! bad joke :-X my appologies... - BrickMiner Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted September 18, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted September 18, 2006 As far a I'm concerned, lego shouldn't bother to bring Aquaraiders to the market. Lets just forget about it and make some real pirate sets!!! Should we be happy with some old rusty shipwreck ??? Quote
El Bucanero Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 You made a good point, but perhaps we should be happy with a shipwreck, imagine what colours it may be, maybe we finally get black hull pieces!! Quote
Berry Syedow Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 You made a good point, but perhaps we should be happy with a shipwreck, imagine what colours it may be, maybe we finally get black hull pieces!! At a whopping $30 price tag I am doubtful if a hull will be included at all. The smallest classic ship hull is probably cheaper than the "tug boat" hull of the future, so let's cross our fingers. Quote
El Bucanero Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Maybe I am not right but I believe some guys of TLC sometimes also check this forum, but what surprises me is that the still don't made a new pirate line, so to TLC, I believe I said this very often: Make us a new pirate line!!! not with the 4+ figs or hulls.... Governor Mister Phes Posted September 21, 2006 Governor Posted September 21, 2006 There is a LEGO representative that visits Eurobricks occassionally, but I am uncretain to whether an have visited since the creation of the Pirate Forum or even aware of its existence. Regardless, I shall be contacting them once the Pirate Forum post exceeds that of the Theatre Forum. Quote

Regardless, I shall be contacting them once the Pirate Forum post exceeds that of the Theatre Forum. hmm went away for a couple days and this happens! these subs look like good parts for my mech collection... and we can get a musket or two... I think my jury is out until i see the shipwreck... Quote
El Bucanero Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 That's right, I need to see it before I can really judge. It seems that LEGO is into new themes, so we pirates might make a chance, it is going well with LEGO, the quality keeps raising, still some <insert that tiresome argument>, unrealistic stuff and offcourse the grey to bley, and brown to reddish brown changes(what isn't as bad as bley). Maybe we get some BaronSat like sets, fingers crossed for a new pirate line( a good one off course). Quote
oo7 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 After all this recent Kraken discussion it seems LEGO is putting one in their biggest set, the underwater Base/Station ( Quote

Hobbes Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 So we should be expecting a sunk Skulls Eye Schooner? I shall sue TLC for royalties then: proof, more proof! *sing* Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 It seems like the past few months have had quite a few occurences where we'd be saying we wanted some sort of new set or line and BAM! ...news of it's release comes a few days / hours later. Which is kinda' cool, as we get info faster. ; ) Or maybe we just are in tune with Lego. Quote
Scouty Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 First of all, scary cat, Second, hopefully the pics of the other sets will be released soon! Quote
oo7 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 This seems like a good place too tell you pirates that over in the theater forum Phoinix has posted that Lego has officially announced that the 2007 Sponge bob Square pants line will include a set of The Flying Dutchman's Ship (and it's on the frontpage too). This is exactly what we have been wishing for, except I never expected we would get it through SpongeBob, but now that I do think about it it makes perfect sense! After Aquaraiders popping up just as we finished a divers discussion, the new Space news while our classic space forum is still raging, the new city and castle sets making a slight reversion back to classic lines, the SW minifig packs popping up right after a discussion about why Lego stopped making minifig packs, Jinzo's picture is looking more and more surprisingly realistic!
