I think for most it's the time of year. After this weekend, the next time I'll be home for a weekend will be mid-December. And after that, busy again. I hope you guys don't get discouraged.

I would be playing if I could but exams are keeping my time limited on other things. This game looks fantastic though I'm sure you'll get the numbers!

This game is first and foremost a mafia game, not a roleplaying game. Party pooper! However Joker ADHO is right. People seem to overestimate the roleplaying aspect. The rule was created just for fun of the community and it should not have any influence on your style of playing. You are not obliged to know your character in details as well. All mafia games involve playing a role of some kind, so just because these characters and their theme exists already doesn't mean to say you have to be the world's biggest Batman fan to play them. I'm sorry to say I'm not signing into this even though you've done a fantastic job organizing the game, I just have too many projects going on as it is. But I think you'll find the most off-putting sentence quoted below (and it's quite contradictory to what I quote above). Players are expected to fully take on their roles in order to make the game more enjoyable and a more realistic expansion of the Batman Universe. This means that they will be expected to know how to act, behave and present their posts in the style of their assigned character. However, players should not take this to the level where the character they’re playing influences the way they play and the decisions they make. I have seen all the Batman movies and watched some of the cartoons (and even seen some of the episodes from the old live action tv-series), but I still don't know even a half of these villains. Asking to gather information enough to play these characters in a believable manner is probably what's putting most people off. Perhaps you should forget the requirement for having insight about the Batman universe and let people play these characters "wrong"? Alternatively, can't you just cut the amount of characters and start the game with the players you've got?

If you were given, for example, Clayface's backstory in any other mafia game, you would just play the role as well as you could with the information you're given in your role PM. This will be all we ask in this game, it's just a bonus if you're familiar with the character you choose and you'll probably do a better job portraying them if they appeal to you. I have no objections to letting players give their own take on their characters. We put lots of work into the game, so I don't want to have to start cutting characters if I can avoid it.

I'll keep this thread going until we're ready to begin in a day or two. This will give a chance for any extra players to sign up and so we'll get some of reserves. I'll also allow anyone who's competing with someone else for a character to change the role they're applying for. If not, I'll just fill the empty roles and we can begin.

Rumble Strike Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 From the Wiki research I did, he was listed as a "Batman: Brave and the Bold" villain, but it doesn't surprise me he was an earlier villain because bringing back really obscure characters seemed to be that show's M.O. I'm, erm, not sure that I'd want to roleplay as him, though. Lots of food-related puns for someone to use, though!

I've seen the original film, the Nolan films, and a few episodes of various cartoons. I'll also be somewhat busier until the holidays. I suppose you could put me on the reserves if needed. So good luck with this game, players and hosts. I'll watch from the sidelines.
