SkaForHire Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I don't know if they are giving free-build points for army pics... I assumed not. I just posted it for story. I don't know if anyone expect points for those kind of builds.

I don't know if anyone expect points for those kind of builds. Agreed, i think those are more storylines than point grabbers. I don't expect army posts to count as free builds unless you're incorporating them into an actual MOC. Figs on a baseplate aren't a "free build" in my mind.

I agree, but I hope this will be considered as a MOC (it is not only soldiers on a baseplate): (click on the picture to go to the topic!) Man, I am glad this is finished
kabel Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Lots of respect to the excellent freebuilds we are seeing which are not on these lines, like Z's house and kabel's ambush. wow, me and Z in the same sentence concerning mocs, that's awesome. Thanks a lot!!!
Maxim I Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I wanted to celebrate post number 900 at the place where it really al began for me (let's forget some minor replies before I arrived here) and where most of my posts are made... I was thinking about giving some positive advice to all those who arrived here the past few weeks, but that will be for in 100 posts
Zilcho Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Could some please answer my question, which I posted a few pages back. Is there anywhere where I can find some information on free builds? As in how they are scored to your guild, is each judged and given a score? Also, must each free build be in an individual thread to count or could I create one thread for my character's story, posting my free builds relevant to his story in there? Thanks

That's too bad I just wanted to post like... ten vignettes with figs
Rogue Angel Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Could some please answer my question, which I posted a few pages back. Is there anywhere where I can find some information on free builds? As in how they are scored to your guild, is each judged and given a score? Also, must each free build be in an individual thread to count or could I create one thread for my character's story, posting my free builds relevant to his story in there? Thanks Check out the beginning of the index and look at the scoring for the Challenge builds. I believe the free builds are scored in generally the same way, but I'm not sure if the Guild Leaders have ever laid out a specific X,Y,Z for criteria. The biggest thing is the quality of the build. Are you using new building techniques? Are you incorporating the style of your guild, or the build your MOC is set in? There are also points for story, photo quality, originality and such, but the quality of the build is the biggest factor. As to the posting of free builds, if you post a story thread, you can post individual threads for decent size MOCs, but if you've got 4 little MOCs in your story, or 1 big MOC and a couple little ones, you shouldn't be making individual threads for each MOCs. I believe DeGothia has posted a couple of builds recently in threads, and then he posted a story thread using the 2 MOCs as the setting. He made the thread stand out by using good angles for his shots, so the builds were indeed just the setting, not the focus of the post. Does this help?
Legonardo Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I dont jhave any of victor, is it possible to create a similar figure and call him that? like a hatless chap with black clothing and balin's beard?
gedren_y Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I'm making a face-down, dead Victor, bloody and beaten. That's how I solve the problem. I don't even need the Gimli helmet for my scene.
PenPlays Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Wonderful! The Chronicler and Susan Jr. back on the same day! Glad to hear from you both again.
ZCerberus Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I dont jhave any of victor, is it possible to create a similar figure and call him that? like a hatless chap with black clothing and balin's beard? Of course.

Good idea. Maybe I'll just put a patch of red plates on the ground, surrounded by black scorch marks! Yup, that used to be Victor.
Maxim I Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I am working on a page for my Battle of Mpya Stedor (eurobricks link) and I suddenly wondered something: Is it possible that this is the first major battle in 101 years? As there was 100 years of peace before Victore started annoying us. And Victor took Cedrica by a trick (secret tunnel), so without besieging that city... Can someone approve this or have I forgotten an other major battle?
PenPlays Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Well according to my story of the pre-Guild age then yes (I have all intentions of tying your story in with mine, complete with the Guilds of the East, DaMaximus).
SkaForHire Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 There were a few troll wars around Eastgate, but they were not large an encompassing. Plus, I think Avalonia was technically in chaos until what, 5 years ago? There may have been some major fighting when the Dragonflight showed up. But, I think this may be the first battle of the first continent wide (or majority of the continent-wide) war in over 100 years. Probably technically more, since we can assume there was some sort of peace process that brought about the kingdom, and it probably was long and drawn out during a time of ceasefire. There was also the Slave Rebellion in Kaliphlin that was successful in freeing our liege, but we do not know on what scale this rebellion took place.

Awesome! I am really looking forward to it! There were a few troll wars around Eastgate, but they were not large an encompassing. Completely true Wow, it kinda feels like an honour to start the whole series of battles I also agree with dG about the window, the front of the tower looks very flat right now. Wow, I've been called dG I am still enjoying it :sweet:
Derfel Cadarn Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I would agree its the first major Historica war in 100 years. Obviously other battles have been fought in this time but only area specific and none that have really involved more than one guild. Avalonia has pretty much been a wild Ungoverned land for centuries untill Artorious came along. Battles were fought in Avalonia to bring peace and justice back to the realm, but again, that was just in Avalonia. I am currently writting those events in my story, so that will fill in some gaps when it's complete. Basically, Avalonia did have a great ruler called Haldur. He left no heir (apparently), and so Avalonia fell into a wild place. In this time many clans formed and each ruled their own different areas. Outlaws, assassins, robbers, killers and all sorts of nasty things flocked to Avalonia as there were no laws. I expect many famous stories happened in these times, that guild men's could write about. My current story starts near the end of the bad times and leads up to Artorious's arrival.
MikeyB Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I did a historic Battle as Avalonia was " becoming civilized" The Battle of Red Ford Not as massive has your Battle DaMaxiums but it was a lot of fun!
Maxim I Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) @MikeyB: Battlescenes are always fun (well for us they are, not for the minifigs ) @everyone else: King Dragonius XXV was not the only Dragonrider who flied to Historica (see the battle of Mpya Stedor), a lot of other Dragonriders mounted their dragon as well! So everyone who is doing a battle scene and has a dragon laying around, you can use him to join your army! The colours of Drakrydar are Red & Green (or dark green on the helmets) However, the Dragonriders prefer wearing the heraldry of their family so you can use every Lego Dragonfaction you want, except for the one that Avalonia uses (as that is the heraldry of the family that was banned from Drakrydar a few centuries ago) Edited January 30, 2013 by DaMaximus
PenPlays Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I would like to propose that the Guilds of Historica Character Locations and Facts thread be pinned. This will give the thread the attention it rightfully deserves, and so that we can keep up with each other. Especially when the Hall of Discussion is open...
Maxim I Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I agree with Penkid! Anyway, time for a commercial break: ----------------- Jack: "Hi John, how are you doing today?" John: "Oh hi Jack, I am doing absolutely splendid! I just bought new golden windowscreens!" Jack: "I already noticed when I passed by this morning. Are they from Mpya Stedor?" John: "Yes ofcourse they are, I only want the best quality in my windows! They are real pieces of art, made from the best gold in the world!" The Mpya Stedor Golden Windowscreens, the best in the world! "We brighten up your day!" => more about this next week
Legonardo Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 made from the best gold in the world!" clearly its avalonian gold, or you so called "explorers" haven't ventured so far into the world as Avalonia to know what real gold is... funny funny though, are you in marketing?
Rogue Angel Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Avalonian Gold is fetching a great price these days. DaMaximus, you must have spent a small fortune on these windowscreens!
