You guys have been pretty busy, enough to read for the whole evening

Still, I think without challenges, the project is less likely to bring in newcomers, and prizes help award some of the old times. Still, I would support a later "Book 2" support date - mid October? Nov 1st?

I agree it does need challenges, but those don't have to be major! And prizes, I don't care about those, but it is appealing for (new)members!

I build for fun, but I'm also competitive so that's also a reason I entered all the challenges. For me free-builds are much more fun to do. Big challenges means less time for free-builds( and stories). For what will become of the guilds, I'm all in and just go with the flow.(If it doesn't go forward in time that will ruin a lot fun for me).

I miss Angeli a lot, both as a builder and even more as a contributor to the Historica project. Dear Z, Is there any mechanism for re-installing banned members, say if we had a petition signed by 25 of us and he promised to never never never do the bad thing again? I think he would re-ignite some interest with his smacktalk builds.

You got my vote for this :sweet:

Banned is a bad place to be. I have no power over that and we have Shadows' answer. I am sure Angeli would be touched. Maybe what you guys need to do is figure out what made him "fun" and we can consider some way to incorporate that into the structure.

Exactly what I was thinking....

It is great to see so much renewed interest in GOH after the 6th challenge is over. I was worried that it was getting awful quiet around here. Although I don’t do much talking, I do come to the forums almost every day to check out what is going on. I think our greatest strength right now is that we have a great group of people who really want to see GOH succeed and build on the great foundations that have been made by the original leaders.

I’ve seen some really great points and ideas being brought up, so I thought I would throw my two cents in too and see what everyone thinks.

It seems like a lot of people want to be able to do more free builds (me included), extend their own characters stories, while still having some challenges, and stirring up a bit of fun “warfare” between the guilds.

What if we had something like a trophy system for part two along with a few larger individual prize challenges?

Quick idea overview- We start with say eight trophies that can be won by the guilds by doing free builds. Each would have a different set of circumstances to win, first guild to come together to complete the challenge gets the trophy and glory. There are no time limits set on when the trophy can be won- besides when we think story two will end of course. This gives everyone a chance to still build for their guild, while extending their own stories, and not get burned out by just doing one big challenge. It also lets everyone regardless of the size of their collection take part and contributes to a larger scale. If the building starts getting stale, we can easily implement a new trophy to be fought over or have “limited time” trophies to work for.

However, why have this lovely guild gold sitting around- if we have never had a chance to use it for anything? We could brainstorm a system in which the guild as a whole could come together to choose to spend some of their money to “steal” a trophy if certain conditions are met. For example, The Master of the Seas trophy originally required six seaworthy boats to be made and Mitgardia being the seafarers they are easily won this trophy. However Kaliphlin decides as a group to spend 200 of their gold to steal the trophy from Mitgardia, however in order to do this they now must have eight seaworthy boats (the six from the original challenge plus two new ones) in order to hold the trophy. Each time a guild wants to steal the trophy back, the MOC number would increase by two. This could get really sneaky, maybe Avalonia decides to make six boats in secret and then spend 600 gold to take the trophy and make it really hard to win back quickly. Maybe Nocturnus is having a bad day and decides to be really evil and spend 1000 gold to reset the trophy totally, and all the previous MOCs held for the trophy are now void and everyone starts back from square one. The possibilities are endless.

There would be challenges of course- Do we place a rule that you can only build one MOC per person per trophy per week, to help offset the fact that some guilds have more people than others? What minimums standards would we want to put down to keep people from cranking out mediocre builds to quickly up the count? Administratively- would we have enough volunteers with free time and willingess to oversee the spending of guild money, keep track of what builds go to each guild trophy, ect?

To me this sounds like to would be tons of fun, it would bring the individual guilds more together since you need to work together to get to a goal, and at the same time all the guilds get a chance to interact and have some fun “bickering and bantering” without having to resort to warfare between guilds.

Hopefully I wasn’t too long winded here- now looking back at all this I say I don’t talk much but I sure can type some paragraphs

What about land? Isn't territory the real resource we are after?

I am not saying we necessarily need to divy up the areas we already have, but challenges for new territory and rewards stemming from that could be interesting.

I guess that's what ska meant with land rush, and I with the charter idea

@Eryn: interesting idea

Great idea ZC!

I think before we start colonizing we should an "Expand Historica" contest. I think it would be a great way to develop Historica and let people come up with their own stories, locations, and races. Just my two cents. :classic:

What if Zakon GoldBlade owned all the land in Historica and become "thee" supreme benevolence? Then everybody could make mocs were they come to pay tribute to Zakon with large piles of gold and legendary artifacts? Sounds sweet, right?

I assume Zakon would rule through a Shadow Emperor since he seems to not like being seen...

I think we should run with this. Best homage to Zakon win's the title king's lackey.

I really like Eryn's idea... with the new challenges to set a storyline, new team rivalries over "trophies" or "honors" that can go back and forth (and like musical chairs, whoever has it at the end of the story wins) Along with guilds managing money to win the next big title (I assume we have some sort of title for the guild that wins the first set of challenges?), I think that will keep more people involved, and more people coming into the realm to help. Throw in mini-challenges, unrelated freebuilds, and the activity here could be record setting.

That would be awesome but I think what is going to be more awesome is the war for the throne... We now have several aspirations for the throne. Me, I'm staying out of politics.

@Ska Wait... I wasn't being serious. You really like that idea or are you joking?

@ Masa Zakon is away on important matters not because he's shy.

Yeah I know just had to throw that joke in. Anyway I think Ska's idea is pretty good. At least it will give soem sort of interaction between us lowly subjects and the ruler of Historica. Our current king went to tour the realms near the beginning of his reign and hasn't been seen since. Absentee ruler... :cry_happy: Edit: But you have to fight for the throne and win first

It was a joke to your joke, but if you won the throne, I think it would be a good mini-challenge. I am not opposed to a builder "winning" the throne. The mysterious Zakron has about as good a chance as any I would think. Although, DaMaximus has been positioning himself for a long time.

What a out 5 mini stories center in each guild so ALL builders get a chance to build in each guild land/style?

You be missing a "B", methinks, Z. Anyway that does sound like a good idea.

You be missing a "B"

nah, that's just this Minnsota accent, you know ... too much German blood up there in the woods

A whirlwind of sand blows in and Masa appears for a few seconds...

The mysterious Zakron

Who is Zakron? he asks. I have heard you mention him twice.

nah, that's just this Minnsota accent, you know ... too much German blood up there in the woods

He looks at kabel. Does too much German blood leave out "E" as well?

The sand swirls and Masa disappears once more...

My phone changes my word's all the time. Pretty annoying. I have most peoples names saved in my dictionary at this point though. Texting is not very friendly towards man hands either. My thumb covers three letters and my screen is huge.
