Grav's idea is good, it would also supplant Kai's index, which used to be stickied (same with the MOC index, what happened to that?) I like that it would be up to the individual builder to update it, that would save indexers time.

As for Book 2, I think the new guild threads should include the following:

Section One: Guilds of Historica Background

Section Two: Guild Background and theme

Section Three: Recent Guild History

Section Four: Guild members with detailed information (gathered from signing up for the guild again.

Section Five: Current guild challenges.

Or course, all of this would take a bit of time for whoever is running the thread, which is why Grav's idea might be more useful in detailing characters. Also, on the individual's thread, he/she could list the links to their MOCs, thus helping the indexer of the MOC index as well.

I don't recall my thread ever being stickied... ? The MOC index is now linked to in the one sticky non-guild thread.

I had started to link to sig-figs as well as other info. In fact I've almost finished a pretty major update. But I'm more than happy to leave that sort of thing to someone else!

I do agree that it would be great to have all the sig-figs linked to in the first comment in the guild thread. (Both Kaliphlin and Avalonia have semi-complete lists.) But it does seem like that is just too much to keep updated, if history has taught us anything!

It can be hard keeping up with everyone's story's and characters. I'm only just coming to the end of chapter 1 of my story and I'm about to introduce a whole load of new characters who will go on and form the Dragon Flight. So lots of characters and back story's to try and keep track of.

As nice as it would be to have the character information in the guild threads, I'm afraid that's asking too much from our leaders who already have a full plate. I think that something along the lines of what Kai has been doing is the best answer and then maybe link to it in the guild threads so that it is easy to find. In that thread could be a pic, a list (preferably links) of the parts used and a link to their character intro/bio. If you have much more than that, the thread will become too dense to serve as a quick reference for all players. Players could then update their intro/bio post in their guild thread and Kai (or whoever) wouldn't have to be constantly updating character's locations and whatnot. This would be a tremendous help to all of us and especially to newcomers but we need to make it as simple to maintain as we possibly can so as not to burden the person giving us their time.

By the way Grav, thank you for attempting to do this for us. Whichever guild you choose is going to be very happy to have someone so ready to pour into the community.

Having a non-sticky thread with posts done by us members and linking to that from the first post in the guild threads sounds like a good middle way suggestion to me.

My fears if we only use the first post are that it will either take too much time away from more important contributions for the thread creators or simply make the sigfig info quickly grow old and inaccurate...

Ska's suggestion for the structure of the first post looks very good, except for that it might be good to have links to current challenges etc at the top of the post?

I agree that it was a commendable attempt to make a sigfig thread, a bit premature though since the shape of the forum for Book 2 hadn't been settled yet.

Welcome to the GoH community GravGunner, I'm also looking forward to seeing your enthusiasm in GoH!

That's the problem in my eyes :sceptic: There have been already so many great moc's that it is sometimes impossible to find something back. Also a lot of information went lost in the depths of all the posts in the past almost 2 years...

Especially information about cities, locations & characters are really difficult to find back. I never want the wikia taking over EB, but I want to have it as a extern storage system for information. If a newcomer wants some information for example about my character, he can easily find everything on the wikia :sweet:

Oh man, after I read your post I thought I should give the GoH wiki a try... So now I have updated some info about Benoic! :)

I admit, I was wrong about it! :/ Easy to work with too!

Perfect :D

About the guild threads and so on:

What if we split the work in every guild? Let's say the first 5 post are destined to become information about that guild. A chosen member is responsible for his post and to update it frequently. So there will be 3/4/5 members, each with their own post (for example characters/cities/...)

In this way, if a member drops back, only his part will have to be updated every now and then by the moderator (who can modify other peoples posts as they have that amazing power)

I might do a link to all chapters of my story so it's easier to find them all. It takes an age to find the early parts when I need to check something. It does make sense to have a thread with links to all the stories from different guilds.

So I am planning to (completely) updating (or redoing) the City Guide. To make it as professional as possible, I will add something new:

Mpya Stedor Herald by Da_Maximus, on Flickr

The shield can be printed and put on an official Lego Ovoid shield.

So what I want you guys to do is to create something similar (by using these templates)

When I work on the city guide, I will contact the owners of the city as well, but it would be great if some of you already start with it :)

Also for the mutual cities, I would say a contest?

That shield is fanstastic, I hope Lego do something similar on the future.

It doesn't have a Lion, so Lego will stay away from it

Haha good one Kayne

Thx :classic:

Ska followed my example and with the herald he made for Queenscross, I have my second city card:

I'll be making one for Aden's Gate but I want to complete my MOC first.

Hello everyone! I'm back from our world travels (OK, just Aussie and NZ in seven-and-a-half weeks, but it sure felt like going around the world)! It was a fabulous, epic trip, and the whole family had a great time. I actually checked out of EB a bit earlier than that, just because of work and trip preparations.

I'll probably need a few days to get over jet lag, and to read a few thousand posts in this forum to catch up, but am really looking forward to getting re-engaged with GoH and EB.

And to you Aussies and Kiwis out there, sorry I never got organized enough to hook up with you all on our travels. We were barely organized enough to make there and back ourselves... Anyway we didn't have any extra baggage allowance at all for pick-a-brick legos for you unfortunately. We brought way too much stuff...

Anyone want to quickly summarize for me GoH important events and happenings since probably mid-May or so? :classic: Otherwise I'll just settle in for some reading...

Gex / NiceMarmot

Welcome back NM! You are in for a treat if you are going to read up on three months of GoH! :classic:

Welcome back (or see you later? you really should've gone to CBS, it was great)

what parts of NZ did you end up getting too?

About travelling:

Between 8 September and 18 September, I will visit Scandinavia. So to all Scandinavian members: any tips? :)

Normally it will be something like this:

Day 1: trainday to Copenhagen (Denmark) (Sept 8)

Day 2: Copenhagen

Day 3: Malmo (Sweden)

Day 4: To Stockholm

Day 5: Stockholm

Day 6: To Helsinki (Finland)

Day 7: Helsinki

Day 8: To Goteborg (Sweden)

Day 9: To Bergen (Norway)

Day 10: To Oslo (Norway)

Day 11: Oslo

Day 12: flight to Brussels

I'm jealous!

To make kabel more jealous, you should definitely visit the Vasa museum in Stockholm, we have an increadibly well preserved 17th century warship there :classic:

Well, it will cost half of the money I earned by working my a** of every day this whole month  1/4th of the rest is invested in some sets, the rest has to stay on my bank account. That means not much money for Lego :sceptic:

@Gideon: I will visit that museum for sure!! Sebeus already told me about that ship and I am really looking forward to it :sweet:

Wasn't the Vasa the highly elaborate ship that sank minutes after it's launching? I seem to remember a storyline in the comic strip Get Fuzzy about a model of that ship.

Indeed it is, it was supposed to be the flagship of the Swedish navy and was packed with sculptures (and cannons, the most of its day).

The king had interfered with the design requesting it to become even bigger but that also made the center of gravity too high. It sank during its maiden voyage without even clearing the Stockholm archipelago

We are of course happy about this, since it then got well preserved in the brackish water and could be raised 300+ years later :classic:
