Starwars4J Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Sadly there isn't too much in the way of release titles that I'm looking forward to. For me it's all about FE10 and SSB:B Quote

Starwars4J Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Hey, I admit that a lot of people love Zelda, and I had the NES and SNES games, but it just isn't for me, so... *blasphemes* >:-) Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Having seen a games montage, I have to say that alot of the games look like a waste of time, money, and skills. There's stuff that would belong on a DS, some graphics that belong on the DS... But, having said that, Wii Sports looks pretty cool as des Zelda, Battalion Wars and Red Steel. The new Mario platformer looks, um, special... Quote

Keep in mind a low-quality video montage will naturally make the graphics seem much less capable, but don't forget that the DS can barely touch N64 graphics, let alone GCN or Wii graphics. There will also be some time while the devs are getting used to the Wii, when they learn to unlock the full potential using programming tricks, I'm sure we'll all be awed ;-) Quote

JoeMI6 Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 Yeah, as does Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Kart DS, and Mario 64 DS... ;-) Quote

Actually it's closer to GCN graphics, far surpassing anything on the N64. But there's a reason for that! In those screens with the AMAZING graphics you've seen, those are videos that come up rarely where the bottom screen shuts off and puts BOTH processors into work for the one above screen! In regular gameplay it isn't as amazing, but it's still pretty amazing in it's own right ;-) I can't wait to get it Yeah, as does Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Kart DS, and Mario 64 DS... ;-) Actually, while they look good, they're still a little blockier than the N64, especially Mario 64 Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Mario Kart DS is actually fully 3D, where Mario Kart DS worked with sprites and a scrolling background. And I have to admit that Mario Galaxy looks way too chaotic to me. Reminds me of Sonic Adventure, and that's not a good thing. But I'm not a big fan of the Mario games anyway. Quote
mutley777 Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 But I'm not a big fan of the Mario games anyway. not a mario fan! Blasphemy! :-D Quote
JoeMI6 Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 lol. Hmm, well with some of Mario's recent outings I think Kiku could be right. However, I think Mario Galaxy might be putting our favourite Italian plumber back on track. Going back to the stuff which made Mario 64 great. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 But I'm not a big fan of the Mario games anyway. not a mario fan! Blasphemy! :-D Well, not the 3D Mario games anyway. I admit, I didn't like Mario 64 nearly as much as, say, Super Mario Bros. or Mario World. Then again, I usually seem to prefer 2D games in a serie over their 3D counterparts. For instance, Super Metroid > Metroid Prime and Final Fantasy VI > Final Fantasy VII. But Super Metroid and Final Fantasy VI are some of the best games ever made and I happen to be a retro gamer so I'm not without prejudice. As for on-topicness: how do you guys think about the Virtual Console? Will you download games off it or will you prefer playing them on the original system? Being a retro gamer I'm happy that a new generation gets to play all these classics (most of which I missed myself since I never had a console as a kid), but nothing beats the experience of playing it on it's original system. How about you? Quote
Starwars4J Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Well I have all the original systems, and original carts of the games that I'm interested in, so I'm good :-D I'd much rather play on the real system, there's just something about having a cart in your hands that makes it feel worthwhile to spend the money...(another reason I love Lego, it's tangible!) And welcome to the blaspheming club, Kiku :-P :-D So far we've got Mario and Zelda, now we just need someone for Metriod and we're done! But on a serious note, what did you think about the New Super Mario Bros. for the DS? It was a sidescroller too...but left me let down. The creativity was just gone. Sure, it went back to it's roots, however that doesn't mean it needs to be repetitive and boring! Quote
JoeMI6 Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 I'll utilise Virtual console as I don't have the money to buy the games I want for my Retro systems (NES and N64). I think it'll be a very nice addition, as I've never played the original Mario Kart. I just hope that they make the N64 ones multipayer. Quote
Zane Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Do you think SSB:B will have a UK release before Christmas? Quote
Starwars4J Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Do you think SSB:B will have a UK release before Christmas? Since SSB:B won't be available in the US until 2007, I doubt very much it will be in the UK, especially considering how you guys are always so screwed over with release dates. You could always import from the US in early '07 Quote
JoeMI6 Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Yeah, I'm wondering how they'll incorparate the remote and nunchuk into Brawl. Heck, it'd be amazing even without special control. Quote

Zane Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Thanks guys. That makes Christmas easier. :-P Quote
mutley777 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 i read a article about the price of the download games today and they seem very well priced. there is a tiered priceing with NES being around a Quote

You could always import from the US in early '07 Unfortunately, games will be regio protected, although at first they said they weren't. So if you plan on importing you'll need some kind of bootdisc too. About the Virtual Console: I read that it will also feature Commodore 64 games. That's good news for gamers that are even more retro then I am ;-) Quote
