Stauder Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Aye nuts guy who started this topic! Oh vader! Where are you, I have somone you can force choke.... Overall HELL NO I only just started colleting SW sets nyway! Quote
Wout Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 At first when I saw the januari sets I liked them but I was a bit dissapointed the only known fig was Grievious, but later there came pictures of more sets with more main characters and I like the battle packs. So I'm not sick of starwars already :-) Quote
BearHeart Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 The January 07 sets were kind of 'meh' to me (except for the battlepacks) but the mid-year sets look awesome. So actually, I'm very excited to about LEGO SW X-D Quote
SWMAN Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I don't think Star Wars lego sets or in general will ever get old or worn out as long as there are fans. The whole idea of it being a "market strategy" to make sets that have been released so little kids will gobble them up is wrong. Every year, new fans are created. Lego tries to re-release sets only when they have improved them so the next generation can enjoy them. I think that we have been shown this year and especially last year that Lego is always thinking of new, better sets to come out with that are really sweet. If they took a break, it would be worse. One or two years is long enough to get people uninterested, but not long enough to get people really excited and anxious about a reintroduction. They would just lose fans and not make new ones. they need to keep going strong. Eventually they will have to stop, but as of right now they need to keep pushing. Quote
oo7 Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I'd completely forgotten about that thread. Guess I stopped reading after my question had been answered... Maybe I'll have to go back and see what all the fuss was about...Steve NOW this is your most successful thread ever. :-D Quote
Brick Miner Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 hey steve... when you first started this topic so long ago i completely agreed with you. i was actually done with EVERYTHING SW directly after seeing episode 3 :-D however, im kinda rekindling my interest in SW, and i think its due to LEGO's 2007 line. so for me, i think it is exactly opposite. i had never really been into SW LEGO, and the re-release of the MTT and the AT-ST have me wanting the line. however, whether i get some or not depends on how my pocketbook feels about collecting too many themes at once :-D however, im empathetic to your view, for sure... i mean if LEGO would have given the WW theme five different interpretations of a calvary Fort, but never a steam engine, i'd be upset too !!! -------------------------------------------------- BTW, from here on out, i wont say anything bad about SW LEGO, they are really coming around... its a first ;-) - BrickMiner Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Hell no! I think this year is great.. though I hate most of the promo sets. -ZotS Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 And to answer the question Athos asks: HELL NO *yoda* Bingo. I must agree on the topic that TLC has completely ignored large places like Coruscant, Naboo, (although I admit they are getting some more Epi. 1 stuff) Geonosis, and I mean more than what they did in 2002 was it? Or whenever they made Epi. 2 legos. I also mean the Geo arena. EU is ok, and as long as they make stuff with Thrawn that's A-ok with me! Quote
Athos Posted April 23, 2007 Author Posted April 23, 2007 I'm still quite sick of Star Wars. I think its the flesh toned figures. And the sets this year really haven't impressed me in either design (i.e Hoth Base) or part selection (i.e. Grevious Starfighter). Plus, there is just so much other good stuff coming out (new Castle, Cafe Corner, Eiffel Tower?) Steve Quote
bosskmr Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I love the flesh tone and the new rifles. Love the battle packs....can only hope for Stormtroopers next year :-D However, this year does seem to have some odd choices....what's with all the Ep I sets??? I'd also like to see more sets on bases and different worlds (Death Star, Cantina, Hoth...etc) Quote
Athos Posted May 16, 2007 Author Posted May 16, 2007 This is the thread that never ends; Yes it goes on and on my friend; Oh yes I started posting, not know what it'd be Now it will just keep getting read forever you see... Steve Quote
snefroe Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 what is starting to annoy me about the sw line, is that sw gets all the good stuff: special minifigs, guns, great detailed sets, a fairly large number of high quality sets,... If only that MM line had this attention and budget, it would surely look lots better... instead we get really crappy aliens and models that are really not up to the standard of even average rated space subthemes... Quote
EXO-CHAMP Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I thin that has to do with the fact that the SW line has to represent something we've already seen on movies. The MM line doesn't have to. Quote
Kahgarak Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I thin that has to do with the fact that the SW line has to represent something we've already seen on movies. The MM line doesn't have to. Yeah. What Lego ''lacks'' in imagination, they make up for by looking at the movies. In the latest AT-ST,they even had the grille disks on the back. Quote
snefroe Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I thin that has to do with the fact that the SW line has to represent something we've already seen on movies. The MM line doesn't have to. no my guess is it's because sw sell in huge numbers, so they get more money to build good sets. after all, "City" has a high quality as well, so basically, i should start a topic: "Why are the space sets crap compared to city and sw?" :-| Quote
blueandwhite Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 I'm not sick of anything LEGO. I'm just... broke. Honestly, LEGO is extremely expensive, and I simply can't justify purchasing every Star Wars set in the pipeline. I'm not that well-to-do. I'm going back to school next year (at the ripe old age of 30), so throwing money around on new sets is not an option. For me, the only set that really stands out this year (other than the Falcon of course), is the Federation MTT. Most of the other sets just don't look very impressive. At this point, I've pretty much given up on purchasing Star Wars sets (the Falcon was my last order). I don't have the money to spare, and the sets just aren't as exciting given that many of them are rehashes. Still, for new collectors, these sets are bound to be fun. I understand that re-releasing popular vehicles makes sense as many buyers may not have gotten around to purchasing the originals. It keeps the value of the older sets high, while offering new purchasers to get figures and vehicles they originally missed out on. Quote
Piranha Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 no my guess is it's because sw sell in huge numbers, so they get more money to build good sets. after all, "City" has a high quality as well, so basically, i should start a topic: "Why are the space sets crap compared to city and sw?" :-| Hehe Space does need better quality *sad* And I mean a lot better quality Space did have a golden age(Classic Space:-) ) One of my Fav themes The good side is more better quality SW *sweet* Piranha Quote
ZoL Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) eg, just how many police sets can you come up with. :-P Well as a Star Wars nut (Yes I know...) I think if they decided to go into the EU they could have thousends of more ideas for great sets! Your example, how many Police Stations are there, 5? I do not like repeats, like the *cough* X-wing *cough* that has been redone like 5 times in the last 6 years. City - how many police stations and firetrucks firestations do we need I think that sums it up! Edited January 8, 2008 by Lord_Sylp Quote
Ogel111 Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I think star wars lego is beter then ever but a few sets like the new hailfire droid are crap. Quote
Wout Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Well, as this topic is restarted, I was after all very happy with the 2007line. The only complaint was about the Hothbase which was only to buy on some special places and sold out in 3 months, where the Tiecrawler was not special and sold so badly it's now already for 25 euro less on Shop@home :-) Quote
General Zen Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Lego was actually the thing that really got me obsessed to Star Wars. I am content with EU and all the other new stuff they are producing because I love lego and I love Star Wars. it will be a long time before the spark dies out! ;-) Quote
Fallenangel Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 OK before I get attacked for reviving a topic after two years (which in Internet time is a long time I guess) I would like everyone to read what I have to say: I think that this topic can and should be revived now because it would be in such a different context than it it was in 2008 and 2006. The LEGO Star Wars line is going strong and pricier than ever; quality has simultaneously soared and plummeted, depending on who you ask; we've seen realizations of many old wishlist items (Ackbar, Tauntaun and Wampa, Death Star, Endor bunker, etc.) and ever-expanding new wishlists for even more extreme requests; sets are overflowing with new molds and characters; the Neo-Clone Wars is in its third season; the 6212 X-wing is the longest Star Wars System set to stay in production; and more. There is a significant shift in perspective from what has happened to LEGO Star Wars since 2008. There's also the fact that the rumored list of 2011 sets only contains two possible sets based on the Original Trilogy, both of which come from questionable sources, and a $350 set based on a ship from the NEO-CLONE WARS. So... am I sick of Star Wars? I'm definitely sick of the Neo-Clone Wars with its complete disregard to existing canon and ever-expanding instances of retroactive continuity out of pure ignorance, not to mention the insane amount of new characters and specialized clones, some of which are really not necessary seeing as there are perfectly good existing specialized clones that serve essentially the same function (ARFs for example - although Lightning Squadron was retconned into the 91st so I guess I shouldn't be complaining too much). Going off of that, I'm also sick of the number of overpriced LEGO Neo-Clone Wars sets with their excessive new molds and prices which make the '99 prices look like good deals. I guess the recurring number of creepy-faced Anakin Skywalker minifigures and subsequent minifigure eyes with pupils is also worthy of mention. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Topic bumper! Totally agree with that. I'm definitely sick of CW. In the beginning, I tried to like it in anticipation that it would be the future of LEGO Star Wars, which it has. I attempted to see the sense in the Twilight and Anakin's clothes and Ahsoka in general. I will admit, CW brought back some sets like the LAAT/i and AT-TE that would never probably have been rereleased as AotC sets. It also gave us some sets from other sources that would never otherwse have been made, like the P-38 and TX-130. We got some new aliens too. In my mind, I gave CW and CW sets every chance to draw me in, and it just failed to do so. I even tried to like the Twilight as much as the MF after the former went on sale and became the years greatest parts pack. To me, CW failed to deliver on both TLG's and Lucas Animation's sides, so I did the natural thing and reverted to tried and true OT. In the end, I'm not sick of LSW as a whole, and definitely want more, but I could live without CW. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Just my 2 cents for this old topic. I guess the best way to describe everyone's sentiments is: To each his own. As a general SW fan, I will never be sick of it. I understand if other fans are strictly-OT, strictly-PT, strictly-CW, or even strictly-EU. Those are their choices and I couldn't do anything about that. You could complain all you want on the direction the SW line is going, but always remember the fact that Lego and Star Wars are businesses. One does not need to be a rocket scientist to know that the main reason Lego are releasing CW sets is simply because CW is in the in-thing nowadays and they would make the most money in that line. Why would TLG release OT/PT sets more than CW if the consequence is profit loss/decreased sales?. Face the reality guys, CW is the current in-thing. Deal with it or hide under some rock. Quote
