Or are they just mad because of the sulfuric atmosphere and noxious fumes?

The land itself is evil. There are countless evils lurking. The people are affected by it - the weak-willed go mad, the stronger-willed go slightly mad and lust for power.

I haven't started on my embassy yet, I've only just pulled apart my watchtower which was a tough thing to do even though noone else really liked it. Dismantled most of my Christmas->New Year haul except the Fire Temple - my sorting/storing system has hit the limit again already so I'll need to get some more containers before I can continue with that and make space to build anything.

Dr Rod, has a mining partnership with dwarves (North Rakath Mining Collective - NRMC)and a trading partnership with a group of humans called the North Rakath Trading Company (NRTC). Very original names ;). The NRMC chiefly mines gold, gems and sulphur. The NRTC trades mostly with Mitgardians, but also with Avalonians and Kaliphians (by sea). The chief trading centres under Dr Rod's control are outside his mountain hideout, in the dark forests of Northern Nocturnus and within an embassy in the Mitgardian town of Hykerbia.

If you need a ship and crew to move your goods without asking any questions you can always call upon the Blackthorn to handle your shipping needs.

My view on Noturnas:

Lord Excob is not 'evil' as such. He does not set out to cause misery, but when faced with a moral dilemma he will choose himself over others. His family have constantly been bothered by humans and thus he treats (foreign, most) humans as enemy. He does not mercilessly kill his enemies, but fills his mines with them. You could, in fact, call him loving. He aims to restore the control an order to the mountains for the orcs and trolls. He helps fight those who get throught the labyrinth. Although making an extensive network of mines in the proccess, Ezcob is doing good. I think.

I was thinking of building a huge demon. However, with my skill level i can not at all build a posable system one. So would bionicles be allowed for demons/other giant beings?

Last I checked Bionicle is part of LEGO and it is a LEGO site...

I say go for it!

Though part of the fun is to challenge yourself to build outside your comfort zone - you might surprise yourself ...

I actually think Nocturnus has some great potential - Kaliphlin and Nocturnus to me are the most 'open ended' of the 4 guilds. There is much less of a preconception on what they would be outside of 'dark' ... If I wasn't asked to be a Guild Leader... I could have very well ended up here...

My next couple of Historica builds are going to use lot of bionicle and hero factory parts. They are great for building none standard stuff.

We need more mocs! Come on guys! I will try to upload my 2 mocs. They are quite bad by most peoples standards but oh well, no harm, right?

Here is our Embassy in Kalaphlins area

Cool, the first embassy posting!! I will probably leave it to the last minute again. Busy sorting, I have about 50k parts that need sorting and I hate it.

Nice cobblestones & I like the fact you've included a Kalaphlinian building next door.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. True "our house built in your street" style build. Compliments your existing structures perfectly, utilising the Nocturnus look - and with the neighbouring building in the local style fits the category perfectly.

I don't really like the idea of building an embassy in the style of the place it's built in. Defeats the purpose of choosing a guild to belong to based on what parts you have, especially when it's only the 2nd challenge.

Hail restless warlords of the East,

When I was visiting my uncle Argyle in Mitgardia, I stumbled on this old map of the Eastern Darklands. Since maps are rare goods in the Nocturnus guild, I decided to hand it to you.

6707242447_2dc1b259f7_b.jpg

Some sidenotes:

- changed the location of the labyrinth. It now defends the entrance of the capital.

Since there was a traderoute from the north and a large coastline, it was to easy to enter the peninsula without having to enter the labyrinth. Also, it covered a very large section of the darklands, reducing the space for others to build. Replacing it also makes the area west of the rakath mountains more part of the darklands and put the labyrinth to more use. It now is more difficult to avoid.

- reduced the moruth swamplands to a portion of the peninsula. Providing more space for those who don't wish to build in swamp terrain and allowing space for a jungle area.

- several the location referred to by guildmembers are included in the map. Missing are: City of Largrethses, Trident, Artanis and Merodaquinas. I wasn't sure where to put those. They can be added.

- I tried to give the map a dark/warm feeling as opposed to the Mitgardia map, which has a very cold feeling.

- I added some inventions of my own (Butcher's bay for example - since Dr. Rod had mentioned that the coast was hard to penetrate at that location)

- The North and South area comply with the Kaliphlin and Mitgardia map. Middle section complies partly with the map made by Trash, but I added some additional things.

This map wasn't requested by anyone, so don't feel obliged to use it! I just made it because I like this guild-thing going on here on eurobricks. But I didn't like the fact that the coolest guild didn't have a decent map yet. A map can help the area come to life.

Perhaps a motto can also add some identity to your guild. Since several of you are using skeletons or zombie-like figures - how about something like: "Death is no excuse to stop working"?

Good luck with the Embassy round!

May your guild long flourish in prosperity,

Balthasar

Greetings!

Strange entry for a first post, but definitely an excellent one!

I like the map since it looks more authentic, the mountainous ridge looks more realistic.

I also like the fact you used those allusions to ancient Greek and especially the Hades. The dead have to cross the Styx to get into the Hades and Cerberus guards it etc.

It is brilliant in my opinion.

I used those allusions as well, by creating "Kerakatha" as Queen of the Restless Dead. "Ker" is a demon that embodies the cruel death while "akatastatos" means "restless".

Beautiful map! I really like the coloring and the ragged edges!

This is a very nice map, can you add on Port Wrath, it is a trading port on the North western coast of Nocturnus, it is on the little peninsula of land due south of the "w" in Malarakis Swamps. There are also dark forests around the foothills of the Rakath Mountains south west of Port Wrath.

Does our Guild leader and other Nocturnians approve of the map?

I didn't comment yesterday, but I like the look of the map. Pity we didn't have it 2 months ago.

I don't approve of the labyrinth alteration though, it seems pretty pointless now. Why would anyone go in there? Previously you had to go through it, it was the only way to get to Nocturnus by land unless you were already in the unforgiving mountains.

I didn't think there should be a path along the coast either, I imagined the range went all the way to the sea with cliff faces. They are my thoughts.

Wouldn't you guys call yourselves "Nocturnals"?

The word nocturnal is an adjective. That'd be like calling yourself the "fasts" "awesomes" "hungries" or "carnivorouses" ... it's very informal if not nonsensical. A people group are usually given a suffix such as -ites, -ians, -ans, -i, -ish etc. The one that seems to have been adopted for Nocturnus is -ians.

Or maybe Nocturni?

That was the one I preferred, it's the suffix usually used for countries ending in the letter n, I can't think of any countries ending in "us" (besides Belarus, but the pronunciation is different. The demonym there is Belarusian) to compare to but hey this guild thing is not official or anything.

I think 'the Nocturnese' sound better

The map is great! But I agree with the Labyrinth, it should be our "Wall" to Mitgardia.

Great to see, that you filled in our Werewolves Area "Claw Breakers"

Hmm, maybe we should be Nocturnites like the deadites in Army of Darkness. If you haven't seen it you really should as it is quite relvant for our guild).

All the other guilds generally end in "ian" so maybe we should adopt something different...

One of my major motivations a lot of the time... gotta be a rebel,. I like Nocturnite, it sounds more evil.
