lisqr Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I found a pic of an old moc that I did a year ago. Fitting for an earth elemental.
Dr Rod Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Greetings fellow Nocturnites, I posted some pics of Dr Rod's expanded tower from the first challenge back in the main Guilds of Historica forum. Link I took it to Canberra for Brickexpo, won the "Best large MOC award" so pretty happy about that Going to keep adding to it in a few months but for now no big builds for Nocturnus... although I have a few smaller scenes on the way Oleg, Dr Rod

I Scream Clone Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Well done Dr Rod, way to showcase Nocturnus.
Angeli Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 So, my dear guildsman, what are you cooking for the challenge 4? I do not see any teasers ;) And the Drow are presenting the city of Waterdeep, an old coastal watchtower, with two elementals, magma (fire) and water. It will be between 1 and 2 m high, on a 48x48 baseplate. But no pictures ;) There will be A LOT of water, at least ten waterfalls, same amount of ponds, some creeks, streams, in one word, a lot of water :) But, with all that water, the thing I like the most is a stone work (and not rocks, but stone of the buildings. I have only 11 more days + 1 for photographing and removal of the background. Not enough :) But, it never is, isn't it? :) I will give you one teaser, and that are tentacles of the water elemental (only small part:). The round building to the left is a part of the scenery, but not nearly finished
Dr Rod Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Dr Rod is sitting challenge 4 out, more interested in some free builds plus he has other events to be building for. Dr Rod
I Scream Clone Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 I am still working on Abyssian, but look forward to the end products guildsmen
Hersbrucker Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I take a break with LEGO, my Lugbulk order is coming next month, so I will start after that again
Rogue Angel Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Angeli, do I detect an, ever so slight, forgotten realms influence?
Angeli Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) well, yes :) look at the names of my cities: Ust Natha, Menzoberranzan, Ched Nasad, Twisted Tower of Ashaba etc ;) My Drow moc started long before GoF, and my main inspiration was my most favorite game - Baldur's Gate (1&2:) If you go to my brickshelf account, you will see a lot of minifigs" folders, full of AD&D creatures (look, it is a beholder in my sign:)).First game that I've made was insiprated by "Mazes and Monsters" (read: "dungeons and dragons:)) film with Tom Hanks ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-7vw_pT9tM&feature=player_embedded#! Kayne Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Ahh...Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. Those were great games for sure! I actually just finished reading all 17 R.A. Salvatore books in a row. Not sure if you have ever read those, but he is the creator of the Underdark and the Drow world in Forgotten Realms. They are great books, and give a ton of insight to the Drow culture as well as many other parts of Forgotten Realms. I would be hesitant to recommend since I think they are only available in English, but based on my interactions with you here on GoH, I think your English is plenty good enough to read English novels. Honestly, if you didn't mention you were Croation, I would have thought English was your first language.
Dr Rod Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 well, yes :) look at the names of my cities: Ust Natha, Menzoberranzan, Ched Nasad, Twisted Tower of Ashaba etc ;) Plus your avatar!! I have been thinking of revisiting BG2 as I never finished it... but that it 100odd hours I could use for something else like building Dr Rod
Legonardo Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 well, yes :) look at the names of my cities: Ust Natha, Menzoberranzan, Ched Nasad, Twisted Tower of Ashaba etc ;) My Drow moc started long before GoF, and my main inspiration was my most favorite game - Baldur's Gate (1&2:) If you go to my brickshelf account, you will see a lot of minifigs" folders, full of AD&D creatures (look, it is a beholder in my sign:)).First game that I've made was insiprated by "Mazes and Monsters" (read: "dungeons and dragons:)) film with Tom Hanks ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-7vw_pT9tM&feature=player_embedded#! So thats how you pronounce Drow! I was doing it with an 'o' sound, like when you say bow&arrow.
Artanis I Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 So thats how you pronounce Drow! I was doing it with an 'o' sound, like when you say bow&arrow. When it's actually like "bow down in submission to someone more powerful you puny Avalonian"
Jareth Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I'm Going to try and enter the commerce challenge. Hopefully no computer blackouts will occur,
Jareth Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72589 Here is the first commerce challenge. Hopefully I'll get another one up tomorrow. Hey Angelli! I bet you'll like the next one!
soccerkid6 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Today is the last day in the Commerce Challenge. So if you plan on entering this is your last chance Commerce Challenge: link
Jareth Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Greetings Fellow Nocturnans, Unfortunately The town of Scarbourough has been cut off from the rest of the mainland by a volcanic ash blizzard, and as such we are unable to partake in the commerce challenge. This is also why we have been unable to offer much help in the face of the Avalonian-drow conflict or the rocher challenge...or much communication of any sort. Rumors of our mayor being exhausted by his two jobs and now taking a vacacion on the beach are completely unfounded. After I get back from the Bea....uh....ash shoveling, I will attempt to make an Elemental challenge. As well as some other MOCs that I have been unable to complete. Apparently I'm a stinkin' liar. Here's my Second Commerce challenge entry http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72634

Honestly, if you didn't mention you were Croation, I would have thought English was your first language. I've never read him ;) But I know of his work, and I've also smashed Dritzz party in Baldur's gate 2 ;) (and without Keldorn (my avatar here), who I had to let go before the fight, because he turned and attacked me the second I hit Dritzz :) Ah, good old times ;) btw, I am for Serbia, not Croatia, and the funny thing is, when you mix those two countries, is that our two nations were in some really messy war just few years ago, and I was caught in it ;) But the good thing is that I differ people by character, so it is not a big deal (but a little funny, yes?:) In any case, I go once or twice a year in Croatia and play underwater hockey, and always get drunk night after in a city, with my friends from there ;) So how are the books? Can you compare them with any other epic-fantasy writer? Tolkien is a great writer, but he gets lost in a details, describing a hill on five pages, and I completely forgot was happening before ;) Murkok is great, but he sometimes forgets himself and goes to the dark side, and his novels can become right grimm (sometimes;) Martin is also great story teller, but he also forgets himself and drown in hundreds of characters he bring in every novel; But I love Martin's storytelling, Tolkiens reality (really:) and world/history threading, and Murkok's atmosphere I am off the topic, am I not? If anyone has anything to say, say to the Drow
Angeli Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Today is the last day in the Commerce Challenge. So if you plan on entering this is your last chance Commerce Challenge: link damn :( I am building with all four hands for the challenge 4 :( I will be late for this, but I PROMISSE that I will add something later :) My greatest Drow warriors were growing fluorescent mushrooms for this all week long ;) The mushrooms were growing so fast and strong, they seemed happy. But, "happy mushrooms" were not the luckiest name, so I made them stop, and switch to fluorescent grass. This is what they produced: And then I knew my Drow are just evil to the bone, and the can not make something without making evil metaphors. I've strictly forbidden them from using any 1x1 round white plates for snow :) Edit: ups, double post ;) but hours later :P Edited August 2, 2012 by Angeli
gedren_y Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Angeli, if you want to read the Drizzt line of stories, I suggest you start with the book Homeland, but make sure you get the Legend of Drizzt version. You might see some inconsistancies from the first three in the timeline and the second three, since books 4-6 were the first to be written. Get the omnibus version of this trilogy, not the originals, as there have been additions to the original narative. As to your GoH ambitions; the baggie of 'plant material' has me anticipating your entry.
Kayne Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Sorry for the national mishap there! For some reason I had thought I read somewhere that you played on the Croation national soccer team...I'm getting old though, my mind is fuzzy. As for Salvatore, I'm not sure who I'd compare him to. His books read easy, but he puts a lot more detail in to fight scenes and the tactics involved there than many other authors do. I agree, that you should start with Homeland if you do read them.
