November 15, 201113 yr As much as I support the idea of a Power Functions XS motor, this is clearly not the the right avenue to get one. CUUSOO is intended to offer LEGO sets based on customer input, not new parts. There is a very long design and iteration process that goes into new parts, and I don't see LEGO ever abdicating that to fans. On the other hand, discussions like this and use of the CUUSOO process is one way in which we can effectively "sign a petition" to make LEGO understand that there is strong support for such a product. They will, of course, only make such a part if there is a clear business case to do so. Hello! I'm pretty much sure you're right- lego Cuusoo doesn't seem to be the right place for suggesting new motor production to TLG, but hey, why not give it a try! Signing a petition would be nice. I'd be glad to join in ANY efforts for saying what we want - a smaller PF motor! Guess most of you guys know that there was (is) a custom mini motor, built in the insides of a LEGO Technic piston coat. The fact that such a motor was fan-made and was (is) available for sale is a proof for the need of such a motor! Here's some info for the ones of you that are not familiar: Do you think that a "body-count" of everyone who ever used such a custom motor in their mocs would be any good for proving our need of a smaller pf motor? Here's a little img to support the cause :) Edited November 15, 201113 yr by le60head
November 15, 201113 yr Also as someone mentioned before, I think it was Paul "crowkillers" I would like to see a battery box the size of a 9V battery. Oooh... an official 9V battery adapter like people are already making would be cool. I still haven't tried it yet, and while I'm sure it's easy enough to make, I'm equally sure that mine will be messy by comparison to an official one.

November 16, 201113 yr And for todays stupid question, - Does it have to be made from lego , you could make a box round it and no one will know. November 17, 201113 yr Sorry while i go off the topic here but this company makes lego compatible liner actuators: Firgelli So my thought is you need to be realistic ,Some people use the above actuators in there moc's so why not use a electric motor and just hide it. Surely by adding 1 or 2 small non lego motors will not spoil a moc, think of all those great moc's you could build.
November 17, 201113 yr While I'd love to see a smaller motor, I'm also of the opinion that Cuusoo isn't the way to go about it. Truth be told I'm not convinced that Cuusoo will ever really amount to more than a publicity gimmick. For those still wondering about the inside of the micro motor here you go.

November 17, 201113 yr these actuators are exedenting very far the small actuator extends 2" (5cm) and the large actuator extends 4" (10cm). KEvron
November 17, 201113 yr And for todays stupid question, - Does it have to be made from lego , you could make a box round it and no one will know. Nobody could complain about what you are suggesting, because that is what LEGO already does. LEGO does not actually make motors. They buy motors off the shelf and insert them into LEGO designed housings.
November 18, 201113 yr For those still wondering about the inside of the micro motor here you go. THANK YOU for your review! It made me want to own a micro motor even more :) Greets, legohead
November 19, 201113 yr Thanks for the link!!! I had no idea what made up a micro-motor, but that website really made sense. Would lego implement a technique similar to this one in a new xs motor? tim
November 19, 201113 yr Ah so that's how it works! It is a kinda harmonic drive after all. Thanks for the link.
February 22, 201213 yr Hi I am midori, the suggester of PF XS motor. This is my first time to use this forum and perhaps I mistook where to write down. I'm so happy that many people have interest in my idea and discussion were so hot. some said about the size of XS motor, and I have to think deeply about it. Now I add battery box and pneumatic switch to power function XS motor and renamed it to "Micro Power Function Series". Next time to rewrite the CUUSOO page I will add something else. don't miss it! So why I appeared here today is that I want to know your idea about XS battery box or pneumatic switch. If you have any idea about battery box and switch, Please tell me!!! Thanks all people
February 22, 201213 yr Author @ midori: Welcome to Eurobricks! It would be nice to have an "Extra Small" (XS) Power Functions Battery Box barely larger than a 9V battery. This adapter (pictured below) is made from a PF Adapter Cable soldered onto a 9V battery plug that clips onto the top of the 9V battery, but is does not have any "attachment points" to secure it onto a Lego model. Would your proposed XS Battery Box use a 9V battery, a disk-type Watch Battery, or something else? Edited February 22, 201213 yr by DLuders
February 22, 201213 yr Hi DLuders, I don't have any concrete idea about battery box, but I think it would be better to choose rechargeable battery cell. 9V battery is too big and heavy, isn't it? and small disk battery is too weak and expensive. actually rechargeable battery needs its charger, but it sounds good solution for heaviest users, children. Your PF-Old electric parts adapter looks nice! could you use 9V battery box for PF!? so nice.
February 22, 201213 yr could you use 9V battery box for PF!? so nice. yes and also a 9v motor driven by a pf battery box
March 5, 201212 yr midori there are 9v rechargable battery's so there isn't any problem you only need to make a lego case
June 19, 201311 yr Also as someone mentioned before, I think it was Paul "crowkillers" I would like to see a battery box the size of a 9V battery. That actually exists, you know. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4760c01 I guess Paul has probably already figured that out by now, though.
July 8, 201311 yr Here is a motor I found that is perfect for the XS motor: With a 16 tooth gear, for scale: The motor I think could fit perfectly into the housing shown in the pictures and has the right shape. As for the specs, I don't know, I tore it out of an RC car so I can't identify it. However, I have confirmed that it has about the same torque and speed as an m-motor geared up about 20:1.
July 8, 201311 yr I think that would be too fast for the XS motor if it was planned as a replacement for the micromotor
