As much as I support the idea of a Power Functions XS motor, this is clearly not the the right avenue to get one. CUUSOO is intended to offer LEGO sets based on customer input, not new parts. There is a very long design and iteration process that goes into new parts, and I don't see LEGO ever abdicating that to fans. On the other hand, discussions like this and use of the CUUSOO process is one way in which we can effectively "sign a petition" to make LEGO understand that there is strong support for such a product. They will, of course, only make such a part if there is a clear business case to do so.

Guess most of you guys know that there was (is) a custom mini motor, built in the insides of a LEGO Technic piston coat.

The fact that such a motor was fan-made and was (is) available for sale is a proof for the need of such a motor!

Do you think that a "body-count" of everyone who ever used such a custom motor in their mocs would be any good for proving our need of a smaller pf motor?

Also as someone mentioned before, I think it was Paul "crowkillers" I would like to see a battery box the size of a 9V battery.

Oooh... an official 9V battery adapter like people are already making would be cool.

I still haven't tried it yet, and while I'm sure it's easy enough to make, I'm equally sure that mine will be messy by comparison to an official one.

So my thought is you need to be realistic ,Some people use the above actuators in there moc's so why not use a electric motor and just hide it.

Surely by adding 1 or 2 small non lego motors will not spoil a moc,think of all those great moc's you could build.

While I'd love to see a smaller motor, I'm also of the opinion that Cuusoo isn't the way to go about it. Truth be told I'm not convinced that Cuusoo will ever really amount to more than a publicity gimmick.

Nobody could complain about what you are suggesting, because that is what LEGO already does. LEGO does not actually make motors. They buy motors off the shelf and insert them into LEGO designed housings.

Now I add battery box and pneumatic switch to power function XS motor

and renamed it to "Micro Power Function Series".

@ midori: Welcome to Eurobricks! It would be nice to have an "Extra Small" (XS) Power Functions Battery Box barely larger than a 9V battery. This adapter (pictured below) is made from a PF Adapter Cable soldered onto a 9V battery plug that clips onto the top of the 9V battery, but is does not have any "attachment points" to secure it onto a Lego model. Would your proposed XS Battery Box use a 9V battery, a disk-type Watch Battery, or something else?

I don't have any concrete idea about battery box, but I think it would be better to choose rechargeable battery cell.

9V battery is too big and heavy, isn't it? and small disk battery is too weak and expensive.

actually rechargeable battery needs its charger, but it sounds good solution for heaviest users, children.

Here is a motor I found that is perfect for the XS motor:

With a 16 tooth gear, for scale:

The motor I think could fit perfectly into the housing shown in the pictures and has the right shape. As for the specs, I don't know, I tore it out of an RC car so I can't identify it. However, I have confirmed that it has about the same torque and speed as an m-motor geared up about 20:1.

I think that would be too fast for the XS motor if it was planned as a replacement for the micromotor
