Sirens-of-Titan Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 Ahhh i see, i just saw that it was open and was dwarven, fitting into what I've been building lately. :P By all means please feel free to build there. If you want to have a dwarven character who lives in the city, owns a mine, forge or anything along those lines feel free to do it! I'd love to see your take on it. I built the Omurtag Palace Complex a while ago, use it for reference if you want, or set up your own design or another section in the city.
Jakon Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 So, I'm considering making a rather large Bricklink order ($111.58, to be presice) to outfit my entire town guard, a full compliment of 25 footmen, Y/N?
Savage Sebstian Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I don't know if any of you saw my comment from earlier, but I was wondering what settings I should have on my camera to get a well-focused shot on my minifig...I still cannot seem to get decent quality pictures :( (I haven't built legos for the last few years and Mitgardia inspired me to get back into building) I was also wondering if the Historcia forums would stay up, even after the prizes and challenges are done.

Well I'm not very good at taking photos, I use the macro button for photographing minifigs. Its the flower symbol on a camera and it helps focus. There is also a tutorial about photography here.

If I am not wrong, Historica will last one year, so probably the end of November/December
Si-MOCs Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 If I am not wrong, Historica will last one year, so probably the end of November/December Partial credit! The official competions will run one year (and what a year). *but* I would think the fourm will stay forever (or merged back to historical, I don't know about you guys - but I plan on building Kaliphlin for years after... There are so many great ideas and things to build that I can't possibly get to do in a year... Plus if there could always be a Historica v; empire strikes back few years down the line

Plus if there could always be a Historica v; empire strikes back few years down the line That's what I was hoping to hear! This is a very fun way to draw a lot of us into not just building but sharing a story. A very cool thing for the site to do, and I was hoping it would go indefinitely. Based upon the interest so far, I would think it probable that we can keep this going.

Gondabuggan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 (edited) "The Gate of Balrond-Gall: one of the few entrances to the Mitgardian settlement of Omurtag, and an expensive one as well. Each passage into the city is tolled by Mitgardian Soldiers. besides being a grand entrance, it is also one of the most defended positions, mostly due to the thin path up to the gate, which must be traversed in single file at most times." Good? :) Edited January 16, 2012 by Gondabuggan
Maxim I Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 nice gate ^^ As my beloved Guild-leader says, Historica will be alive even after the officially end. I just think they said the period of a year for making things like the watchtower, the embassies, ... as, considering every project has a period of 2 months, I can't imagine how they can find more than 5 new tasks for us But just like Si-Mocs says, I'll build my medieval mocs in Kaliphlin style even when Historica is finished officialy

NiceMarmot Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 You mean Historica isn't meant to run for a long time? IT is supposed to shut down after a while? Kaliphlin and Historica forever! And Mitgardia too! I'll certainly still be building Kaliphlin after November 2012, and I'm sure a lot of others will be too. Honestly, I don't even really see the contests going away after that either, although maybe they'll be less frequent. Things are going so well now, as long as we keep having interesting competition topics, I think there will be the motivation to keep having contests. I suppose at the end of 2012 we could probably declare an end to the overall guild competition and see which guild one, but that shouldn't stop us from having building contests. On the first page of Kaliphlin thread there are probably 30-40 good build ideas that we came up with in a very short period of time; each of those could be a contest.
CptMugwash Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Greetings from Kaliphlin, I'll definately be building after the official historica competition thing is over, perhaps after the comp historica could slowly decay into all out war, comps for building the biggest, the strongest and super cool war machines could be done and so on. I've got my city to build too and I'd like to get it done the end of this year but if not I'll be continuing till 2013 anyways. Not to mention that Lotr sets will be out and there will be plenty of medievil/fantasy pieces around, hopefully.
NiceMarmot Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 [Double-posted also to Historica city guide topic] Good sirs! I am in need of a location in Mitgardia for a Kaliphlin embassy. My only requirement is that it be on a river or other navigable body of water, as it will also function as a trade delegation and have a small wharf. I believe that this embassy will greatly improve relations and commerce between our two great lands! And it will be a great addition to whichever city it is located in. See the rendering below which my trusty architects have given me, and I think you will agree that it will be a remarkable edifice. I will be sending our quartermaster to the Brikkus-Lynk quarries shortly. -- Gex
Jakon Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 So, I have a WIP pic of my embassy, any Idea's/suggestions? Embassy WIP by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr What your seeing on the top is actually the second floor.

Darkdragon Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Greetings, we are Wolftracks Mitgardian Rescue Company. If a loved one is missing, we will search all of Historica to find him or her. We do not give up and we do not fail. We make no promises on the condition of the people we find, after all it is a harsh land out there. We do our best to track down as many details as we can and bring back to you all the news that we were able to gather. We are here today to inform the guild that Than-Reya, speaker for the Urk'cape tribe, has perished on a journey into the desolate Siccus Badlands. She and her husband were on a quest to build an embassy in Kaliphlin for the Mitgardian guild. Unfortunately they were ill prepared for the desert creatures and were attacked in the night. One creature was slain but it appears that there was another who tried to drag Than-Reya's husband into it's burrow. We can only guess that the screeching death cries of the slain creature are what finally drove off the other. Most of her belongings were missing, including the cart of wares they were sent out with for building the embassy. We found a flag pole at the camp, but no flags. The good news is that we did find Than-Reya's journal and are currently working on peicing together the details of the journey. We will report back to you when we have more details. Wolftracks vows to continue Than-Reya's quest and successfully build a Mitgardian embassy in Kaliphlin guild.

Sirens-of-Titan Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 ... We are here today to inform the guild that Than-Reya, speaker for the Urk'cape tribe, has perished on a journey into the desolate Siccus Badlands. This certainly is bad news, the Mitgardian Court of Valholl sends their condolences to all who knew Than-Reya and vows to better protect it's emissaries from danger in the future. A tribute of 1000gold pieces has been sent to the Urk'cape tribe to help them cope with their loss. As for the Wolfpack Rescue Company, the Court thanks them for their efforts, and for taking over oversight of our embassy's construction.
Fat Tony Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Sirens-of-Titan: Congratulations on getting blogged on the Brothers-Brick. That is a great looking bridge!

Angeli Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Hear yee hear yee! :) Regarding Valentines Day that is to fall on us, the Drow of the Historica are organizing Gladiator Games, in tribute to our lovely matron mother, the queen Valsharess! The games will be held in the city of Rilauvein, in the Nocturnus area. The Drow will provide safe passage in and out of Nocturnus for all participants. Choose your champion, equip him(her) for fights in the arena pits and send him (her) here to represent you! All guilds invited! - one champion per guild member - requires at least one picture of him/her and a name ;) - post them in this thread - - everything is allowed - any kind of armor, weapons, magic users, magic items, skills, gun-powder (nobody in the audience will like gun-powder weapons, just so you know:)), any type of race or creature; the arena is with open roof, so height and size also does not matter, and giants and trolls are also welcomed, and creatures with wings! - there will be a special commentator that will relay us the details of the fights (with all the gore details) The rules of the fights: - Everything goes! - All the teeth lost in the arena are property of the Drow and will be sold to dr Rod for future experiments! - All the contestants are going to be pared up at 13th February. The paring will be random, and the winners will be chosen random (ever played AD&D games? Well, I will be using dices:)) or some computer program, or we will connect ourselves to some web page and let chance choose "1" or "2" :) in any case, the winner will be chosen totally random, and size and armor won't matter, so, go nuts ;) Do not come in just your bare skin, as much as we Drow applaud to that kind of exhibition, you will be squashed by fans ;) - We will know the winner by the end of 14th February - guild leaders can send their champions also, and they will overlook organization and fairness of games (but the Drow can not be controlled, keep that in mind!:)) - The fights will be held only if total of twenty (20) participants sign up - no limits for guilds - Any guild member can join, even if he/she joined guild after this announcement The prizes: - two sets of complete armor and weapons from Drow adamantium - as pictured by our models :) (minifigs are not included, and in any case, would you like to have a couple of Drow lurking trough your castle?:)) Note: helmet, saber and shield are from brickTW, armor is from our guild member Trash and his brickwarriors - The winner will be given "The lord of the arena" title to boost in front of the girls (or "the mistress of the arena" if the winner is she, so she can glow in her beauty and strength in front of all insignificant others!:)) - The guild from who the winner is will be awarded a certain amount of gold coins, if guild leaders approve So come all and come now to the beautiful city of Rilauvein and show your skills! Impress the ladies! Earn honor for your guild! And win the arena! Note: If you like this kind of game, this could be annual event, always related to the minifigs and little-time-consuming mocs, and with small armor/weapons prizes, to sweeten the pot, and next time we could organize the best entertainment minifig or the weirdest resident of the Historica Important: this is just a game with intent to give us joy and fun :) do not forget that this are lego minifigs, not real people, and it is all just pretend ;)
