Welcome to our forum. Seeing as you are new I will give you a few pointers to help you on the way:

1) Please look at page 1 of this thread, it explains everything about Mitgardia and the Guild System.

2) Please use proper punctuation, spelling and format your posts. (The above post will quickly generate you bad rap points with Mods and regulators alike)

If you think you could do that, I look forward to seeing your character posted in this thread!

Cheers!

-SOT

Congratulations to both Ecclesiastes and Kabel on becoming Admirals of Mitgardia. I wish I would have known the ship building challenge was actually a brown boat building contest, I could have built something to enter.

Great job on the embassies everyone. Once again there are some really great builds from Mitgardia.

Was your dwarven ship for the mini-challenge?

And so it was that the four Great Guilds of Historica reinforced the bonds between them with masterful diplomacy. Pleased with the newly-established era of unity, the High King Draconius has decided to tour the realm of Historica, so that he may survey all the newly-built embassies and note-worthy sights first-hand, and reward all those whose efforts had helped insure the peace.

From the Capital Stronghold of Cedrica, the High King, his entourage and armed guard shall make their way to each of the four realms of Historica. Thus the King has sent messengers to every Guild, decreeing they must prepare their land for his arrival. “It is a time of peace and prosperity” the King has announced; and all in Historica will be well advised to remember it.

With this new peace, the High King has decided to focus the the realm in more historical pursuits - gathering a great champion from each realm to look for an infamous Historian who may hold the answer to the Mystery of Historica's fabled hidden shrine... Stay tuned for more...

Our Jarl, guildsmen.

Exciting, indeed. Exclusive stuff sounds good! I guess mini-challenges winners are not eligible for prizes of such prestige?

I am also very curious about the mechanics of the scores and the gold. I had a look at the general GoH discussion and most of the Mitgardian topic, but haven't found anything. I guess I'll just sit back and wait for the results of round 2. DaMaximus and Derfel Cadarn said it would be updated then.

Unless anyone of you knows anything about it...?

Looking forward to the results, round 3 and the prizes!

I think mini-challenges are meant to improve your building skills and provide comparable builds for members to critque and compare. You are building to display your builds, and if you're lucky - get a title too. Mini-builds are determined by your guild leader, and they would be the ones having to buy prizes to give out (I would think). Some guilds have had numerous mini-challenges and some have not. I, for one, would not want to limit mini-challenges by requiring prizes for them. The big challenges are where the prizes are at, and this makes sense to me since the entire guild participates, and it requires a substantial quality build to be competetive.

In terms of first challenge scoring, the top 5 towers and free builds from each guild were scored, and that is where the gold coins for the guilds have come from (I think there may have a been a few more coins from other things, but I'm not sure.) The scoring mechanics have never been revealed in detail, and I'm not sure how much they will be revealing with this. There was a lot of discussion over the top 5 towers for each guild after they were revealed last round, which I think is why the guild leaders will now be giving points for all the embassies entered. They didn't pick 5 entries from each guild this round because the builds are all so varied, and can be very difficult to compare and rank. I'm guessing they will only be revealing the top 5 for the guild and I think they are planning on revealing a bit more about the scoring and free-building challenges, but I'm not sure. Remember too that this is a work-in-progress, and it will get smoother with each challenge.

Even though this isn't too clear, I hope it clears things up for you a bit. :classic:

Looks like we Kaliphlins have to teach you Avalonians more than only Reading and Maths

Thanks for your trouble, rogueang. That got me some answers. I guess I expected everything to be clearly written down somewhere, but it seems to me now that the challenges and builds are just evolving and growing so fast that the organisation hasn't caught up yet.

At least I now know everything there is to know for us common guild members. :classic: I'll keep my eyes peeled for updates.

Thanks again!

(And I do hope I am not the only one who was wondering about these things, posting like a madman all around Historica, looking for answers. If I annoyed anyone - my apologies.)

@ moorkueken: Nicholas Greybolt; Welcome to Mitgardia! Pleased to have you, I'm sure you'll have a great time here, and I look forward to seeing your builds!

@Flint: You ask a very valid question; the reason it hasn't been discussed how builds are scored is not because it's secret, but because it's something we Guild Leaders seem to take as part of the job and sometimes forget that people could be curious about. Here is how it was done, full disclosure:

Challenge 1: The top 5 watchtowers were picked out by Guild Leaders and then the towers were voted on. Winners were those towers that scored the highest score out of 50.

Challenge Scoring Table:

Represents/resembles your guild : 1-10 points/coins (If you build in Mitgardia we don't expect palm trees )

Realization/Build Quality: 10-30 points/coins (How well you depict the setting, theme of the challenge and how well you utilize techniques and challenge yourself)

Composition/photo quality: 1-10 points/coins (How well you present the MOC; a bad picture can ruin even the best MOC, and great picture can make regular MOC's look incredible)

(Minimum points possible 12, maximum possible 50)

(Individual results are confidential, please do not ask us to release them)

Challenge 2:

The same system was used, except all entrees were scored, not just the presumed top 5, this way everybody had equal chance to get evalutted and win a prize. (Scoring is pretty much finished, we are formulating a formal announcement)

For those of you (and there are a few) who are going a little nuts waiting for Challenge 3 to be released, let me ease your burden; it will be released officially in a post by Derfel tomorrow (Feb 24) at some point.

Hope that answers all the questions!

@SoT, sounds exciting!

However, it is unlikely I will be able to post at all during March :sceptic:

I am looking forward to my R1 prize though :sweet:
