I am working on a little bit of competition for the prime minister mini challenge. Story, photo's and campagne should be ready before the deadline. So that should make things atleast a little more interesting.

Also really like the main third challenge. I have some ideas, but dont know if I have the time and sufficient bricks to build my idea, but Im defineatly gonna try my hand on that! Cool throne room Sirens!

I don't have time to build any Historica MOCs this month, as I am preoccupied with the MOCathalon on MOCpages; but come April I should be able to build something for challenge 3.

It sounds like the most fun one yet!

I'm back again.

Nice to see that challenge 3 is going to be something really different. I'm also hoping to compete in all the other mitgardian challenges.

Hail Mitgardia!

Hail Mitgardia!

Welcome back from your campaign in the snowy mountains Hersir Chorian! I trust you defeated the snow goblins?

I can't wait to see you all jump into the race last minute; I've seen some things on Flickr so I know people are getting ready to run, but we'll keep it under wraps until they are ready to make a formal announcement. How do you guys want to vote on the PM candidates; our guild only, or open it up to all members to vote?

I'm taking ideas on what we can do to make our Guild better; we are fewer than the members of other guilds, but we still have the highest score. Let me know how we can be a better group, and what would make the Guild experience more interesting and exciting for you!

I think we should open it up for all members. I think just our actual guild members is too small of a group for a very interesting voting race.

As DarkDragon pointed it, opening it up to all members would make the race more exciting in terms of votes. It is more realistic to have only Mitgardians pick their candidate, though. I don't really know which option is the best :sceptic: .

EDIT: The kick-off for my presidential campaign has been given. The promotion has begun: I have changed my avatar  . I'll post the necessary stuff in the campaign thread tonight, after school! But for now, fear my Mittenlander avatar  !

Indeed no more snow goblins

Altough my inner Mitgardian feelings are saying only Mitgardians can vote. I think because there's a lack off (enough) men who can vote. It's better to make all the guilds able to vote.

Posted

Very well then; open election for all members! Post candidates in official Voting thread; not in separate threads please. That way it's easier for voters to see all candidates on the same page.

Hi just want to point out that any Mitgardian candidate that wants the foreign votes, could shouldmake a gift bribethrough Nocturnus treasures and jewels to a Kaliphlin account for the orphans in Avalonia. Cough cough.

Is just a suggestion.

Thanks for opening up the voting to everyone. It does seem a bit weird, but it will allow for more votes. Perhaps you could count Mitgardians' votes as worth two foreign votes? Just so those numerous Avalonians don't overwhelm the voting?

Or you could limit foreigner voting only to those who are true friends of Mitgardia, i.e., those who built embassies there!

i guess we do have to find some kind of excuse for non-mitgardians to be voting, e.g. a job there, a partner, mitgardian ancestry etc. otherwise it might look sorta odd, (especialy when it comes to drow [say no to drow!! ])

I wouldn't worry about your anti-Drow message generating hate, it might win you votes across the other Guilds!

I will have a solid explanation for why other Guilds can vote in Mitgardian election, no worries.

Khorne / Mittenlander -- fabulous campaign post! You really nailed it. Had me laughing the whole way through. Although you better hope the gazetteers don't find out about that time you vacationed in Avalonia and put your pet chimera in a crate on top of the covered wagon's roof for the entire journey...

Jachleël Sered for becoming prime minister.

6822716212_bc55660c49.jpg

Jachleël Sered comes from a farm-village near Ondylion. He's from a hard working family. And during the years he and also his family noticed a lot of changes in Mitgardia. Most of them aren't that good. So this is a good time to stop all those changes. Let's make Mitgardia how it once was. So that we are once more:

Making our ancestors proud!

So what is changing according to the people? Jachleël Sered really listens. Going to cities and villages asking for opinions about certain issues. Here are some of the most important things he heard.

Grin Coluss from Erikson: “We were always proud because we had one of the best harbors and docks in Mitgardia. But now all men, for example Avalonia can come here. The think they can do anything they want. Like starting fights, not paying harbor-taxes. And the worst thing is no one does anything about it. I fear for the future of Erikson.”

Janise Gren from Ondylion: “I feel ashamed. These days it is not uncommon that a Mitgardian girl comes home with someone from Kaliphlin. It is outrageous. Our Mitgardian blood has to be pure! Let’s keep it this way!”

Terris Harni from a small village: “Everyone knows taxes are needed, but it is a shame that the old folks still have to pay a large amount. Although they have a strong Mitgardian heart. Their hearts will stop beating too soon if they have to work so hard for themselves and also for Valholl.”

Yert Flonnar from Helgestorp:”Last summer was one with a lot of rain. So the harvest wasn’t that good. This winter some children and a lot of elderly died because of a lack of food. I can remember my grandfather telling me stories about strong winters without enough food. But the most important thing was that he told us, the Jarl always gave away some of his food. Last winter, I haven’t seen the Jarl or anyone from Valholl. Although there is food enough.”

Doesn't want to be named: "Those fools in Valholl decided that you will need a permit for carrying a weapon. What's this foolishness? A man should have the right to defend himself. Carrying a weapon is defenitely needed these days, with Drow and other dangerous creatures passing our borders."

Jachleël Sered : “Yes I know… It makes you wonder what our ancestors would have thought about this. I think.. No I know for sure they would blame us for turning Mitgardia into such a mess. So let’s change Mitgardia back to how it once was. So that we are: Making our ancestors proud!

6822718404_388a396284_z.jpg

So the following is definitely going to change when you vote for Jachleël Sered:

-More border patrols. Keeping people/things out of Mitgardia who are not suppose to be in Mitgardia

-Referendums will be held for all the important decisions/rules made by the Jarl and the ministers. So that the people can rule Mitgardia.

-No more taxes for the elderly who passed the age of 70.

-Food support for any village or city who’s troubled by a serious lack off food.

-No more need for a permit to carry a weapon.

-And lots more so that we are: "Making our ancestors proud!"

Haha, thanks  ! I think it's pretty obvious where I got my inspiration  .

It seems that Mitgardian politics are rather right-wing, aren't they  ?

quote from Mittenlander's campaign:

"I takes a man who knows the economy, to save the economy"

Literally translated in Dutch, it sounds funny

@SOT:

I agree with some here that the elections are for Mitgardians only, but then again it would not be that interesting. So maybe everybody who made an embassy in Mitgardia can vote as well?

Yes indeed; Mitgardia seems to be kind of parallel universe to the Midwestern US when it comes to politics.

Guildsmen, we have 5 candidates for Prime Minister, I hope that if anyone else is thinking of running they announce so TODAY as it is the last day before the election. Polls open tomorrow March 11th, and will be kept open for 2 days.

Voting will be open to all members, so make sure to vote even if you aren't Mitgardian! Why is this allowed?

The practical answer: We want this to feel more like an election, if only Mitgardians voted there would be a dozen or so votes, and that could be a very underwhelming race. For the purposes of the election, all members can become Mitgardian citizens for a day, just as many of us take on a couple of characters in places like the war-games forum, and our multiple Historica adventures.

So, dear Eurobricks Members, on March 11, 2012, put on your persona of a villager or a towns person from the North, and help us elect our first prime Minister!

hehe, too bad we've got so little time left, because now that we got more candidates I'd really like to get the mud sling going, so guys, fear Eric Grimmson and stay tuned!!

The Vote is now officially open Guildmsmen! Make sure you cast your ballot for the first even Mitgardian Prime Minister! ---> HERE

NOTE: Gondabuggan, you've been added to the poll as well, so post your info as soon as you are able to, if you could.
