About the challenge, do the elementals have to look like they did in the prelude?

Nope

Must be an action scene that shows elemental destruction including an elemental monster of your own design.

Inspiration struck for a non-Historica idea (I know sacrilege ;) So with my limited summer time I doubt I will be entering Challenge 4.

If anyone would like to chat about ideas or WIPs, share photos etc, in a place that isn't open to all guilds and before you might otherwise want to post to the public by all means pm me! I love talking  .

Offcourse! All you need is a small backstory and an introduction of your sigfig! A picture of him/her would also be nice.

Cool to have a new member

Looks like he joined Avalonia. Nobody wants to live up north these days. I pin it on the cold winters, trolls, and so many great builders in the Guild already!

maybe its because we're too cool ...

BTW, how about us getting back to the top again, any ideas? Currently I am modifying Ecclesiastes Tower moc so that the wall could be become the standard wall in a possible Valholl community build. How would you guys feel about that? Just a small 16x16 piece of the wall, small enough so you can spend your bricks on challenge 4.

I'd be ok with that  Similar to what Ecclesiastes did we could make a house or small scene on the inside of the wall.

I know I will be doing lots more free builds :classic:

I do agree that we should use eccles' tower as a standard, I would love to build similiar walls/towers etc. Unfortunatly I don't have a lot of time at the moment and I'm still working on a freebuild of my own. But after that I will try to contribute a piece of the wall of Valholl.

No place better than here up North! That's probably it

Sounds also interesting to me, so looking forward seeing the standard wall!

Hi folks. Back from Brickworld and hope to post a Mitgardia Sigfig photo on this thread sometime today (no promises though, I am very tired and lots of stuff that I need to do before work tomorrow).

Hope to see more guild members there next year. :classic:

That sounds like a cool idea, although all of my light gray bricks are in use, so I'd have to disassemble something.

No it's not to cold. It was hard to choose and I am swedish so I like vikings (it's ok that i call mitgardia men for vikings they are the same?)and cold ( vikings came from denmark, norway and sweden) but I choosed avalonia but my sigfig is coming from mitgardia and many of my warriors are from mitgardia too. If it's possible my town is between Avalonia, Mitgardia and sea.

currently Mitgardia and Avalonia are at peace and appreciate each other's culture. As a matter of fact, many of the early settlers originally came from Avalonia anyways. So naturally we are closer together than the other guilds.

If you do that can you give me a breakdown of some of the parts? I'd like to build one of these at home for practice

Still a wip but here's an impression of "Gates of Ondylion"

Are you using old grey? does it matter if I build it with the current (easily obtainable) grey?

Posted

I'm pretty sure he is using the new grey, even if he wasn't most of us are going to be building in the new light grey.

The old kind is hard to get and expensive.

I would like to prupose this to be the standard wall for a possible valholl mitgardian community build. It's based on Eccle's tower design but a little smaller, leaner, simpler and therefore not quite as brickconsuming. It's 16 wide and 13 high, has no extravagant pieces and should function as a backdrop for any kind of building along the city wall of Valholl. Maybe we could turn this into another minichallenge, and I'd donate a small price, although I have no idea of what yet. So tell me what you guys think. It's preliminary, so ideas for improvements are always apreciated.

I really like that its small and manageable! If someone doesn't have the same grey, no problem, I would think the wall is built from whatever materials are quarried close to that sections location, just stick to the 16x13 dimensions. Although maybe some parts of the wall are higher and we can step up or down accordingly to transition!

Some sections might have alternative arrow loops (thinking the 1x2 brick with technic + entry in the middle). Or slight variations. But different towers should be easy to design too. And not take that many bricks or exhaustive time! My one comment would be the lower arches are a good place to hide because of the wall overhang above, but I'm sure we can engineer some murder holes and burning oil ;)

I like, a lot.

Looking forward to see it! And maybe next year instead of Legoworld, brickworld would be nice!

The guilds are so close, an Avalonian even made you a watchtower

I think an Avalonian wants to hear a thank you.. Thank you  No it was a good tower from a distance, but I will have to send some men to check how good it really is

The wall looks really good. Only thing a would change is making it two bricks higher. It is our capital and for a captital that wall isn´t that much of a defence. And as Cara said some defensechanges would be fun in different wall parts

But for a standard it´s great!

Yea I also think the walls should be a little bit higher. That was one of the great things in Eccles' build imo. It is going to be the main line of defense if one of those pesky elementals will ever reach our mighty capital.

One other suggestion for the wall standard would be for it to be 2 sections of 1 thick walls hooked up on top. Like Ecclesiastes did with the middle just open space.

Makes it look much more intimidating and doesn't take many more pieces at all.
