I'm back and trying to catch up! I can't say enough how nice it is not to be on a touch pad that tries to auto correct my every typo and board name and that I have to spend three times more time correcting than trying to reply. Its frustrating to even remember.

Now to break down the mountain top and clear off my desk, muhahahaha.

Great to hear you are back! I'm looking forward to seeing your entry :excited:

I'm about half way through my elemental monster :sweet: My original plan was to make the elemental first then do the scene, but I almost gave up on trying to build the monster first. Now I've got something I'm pretty happy with though, so I just have to build the scene :pir-laugh: This is my biggest build yet but I'm still wondering if I'll have enough space for everything I want to do :look:

How is everyone else coming on their Challenge 4 entries?

Well for now I finished the last part of Ondylion. I will use that for the commerce challenge, I'm just waiting for some better weather for taking photo's.

And for the elemental challenge, I'm filled with ideas. But with 50-60 hours working each week, I'm hoping I will be able to make something. There is still a month left so we'll see!

Great work everyone on the free builds and mini challenges. :classic:

I apologize for not being very active, I'm still trying to get a building area in my LEGO room since the Brickworld whirlwind. If only I could take another week off work just to clean things.

Definitely planning to enter challenge 4, though I'm only in the first stages of ideas forming so far.

I do have a free-build I'll be posting in the next week! Hope you all like it.

@darkdragon: I know what you mean as I just totally reorganized my Lego room (which is also my room  ) last week.

Glad to hear you are entering Challenge 4 and have a free build in the works

I just finished my elemental monster :sweet: The only thing I don't like about it is that it's pretty big

I'll be gone on vacation for the the next three weeks, so I won't be able to keep up here and I've been really busy the last two weeks too. So I'll start the community build when I come back, or what do you guys think? As for challenge IV, I doubt I'll be able to build anything descent within the time left. Too bad.

@kabel: Your plan for the community sounds good to me  I will be busy with my Challenge 4 entry for a while so I wouldn't be able to start on it any sooner.

Too bad you won't be able to enter Challenge IV :cry_sad:

What are the rules on cutting parts for this challenge? I'm pondering over cutting up a net. Thank you.

Happy to chat about WIPs. Sharing the process for me is half the fun of building.

There is a bridge in the foreground of my MOC (at least at the moment, lol). Within the centre arch I wanted a broken grille, hence the thought of cutting up a net that fits that space and using hairspray to keep the individual strands curving out and back.

I was definitely hoping for a grid grille rather than bars. I could use antenna and have the vertical ones one row back from the horizontal but I didnt like the rigidity. Or have longer antenna and use elastic bands as the cross bars. My other thoughts are the flexible hoses, tube part only, probably without their ends on them. I like the slight curve and irregularity you get with a bendable piece. Or the soft axle hose look promising.

I already have spare nets, the tubes are not that plentiful, axles are possible. Or I could scrap the grille entirely .

While I always have this big picture in my head, when it comes down to individual pieces to execute that, they often get revised or removed as I see how they work next to other pieces of the MOC.

Here are two WIP pics of my MOC for Challenge IV :classic:

Any suggestions or criticism welcome,

I will probably post some more soon

 I like that he curves.

I am wondering how his eyes would look in pale grey or trans light blue so they match the walls or stand out. Or maybe pale grey behind the round 1x1 plate that has the hole in the middle in white - used in the sheep game.

I also love trying to see what is in peoples small sorted lego box, and wonder what the cauldron is for .

I often wonder what your building areas/desks/rooms look like

@Cara: Here are some pics of my building area, the tubs are each a different color, except one which is technic pieces. There are 4 more big tubs not in the stacks shown. My brother gave me the desk about 2 weeks ago, and it makes building so much easier :sweet:

I'm rather limited on what I can do to the eyes because of the design of the head, they are white headlight bricks right now.

I tried a couple different color 1x1 plates/tiles on them though, it makes them stick out kind of far in my opinion.

Any feedback on which type you like best, or a another idea for the eyes is welcome :classic:

For your creature's eyes, if you are willing to do stickers, get a sheet of metallic blue or silver stickers, cut small triangles to fit on the forward facing sides of the headlight bricks, and put white cheese slopes on the side of the bricks. That way your creature has forward binocular vision.

@soccerkid6:

Try using the 1x1 round plates from the Ninjago sets, I think that the one with the swirly on it would work quite well for this, anyway, that WIP looks great, can't wait for the final product.

I agree things on the current headlight bricks stick out too far.

And I decided not to cut a net. I had qualms of conscience!

Oh good :)

What were the dimensions of the grill gonna be? 8x8? the second piece link you posted is pretty thick (I've had trouble taming that piece). Flex tubing always works, but that's sortof a default lol. Sometimes I wonder if I should just make a moc completely out of flex tubing as a joke to people like Steph and I who use it all the time :P.

I already have plans for all my flex tubing to the extent that I'm hoping I have enough - hehehehe

I haven't used any stickers yet and don't really want to but thanks for the suggstion :classic:

Well I don't have 2 of those right now, but it's a good idea

Thanks for your opinion!

I tried out some more styles and here is my favorite:

Best eye so far! I like the tail you've made on the monster.

Tomorrow I'm building up Ondylion at our legoclub-day! And I will do some shamless historica promotion
