Cara Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Best eye so far! I like the tail you've made on the monster. Tomorrow I'm building up Ondylion at our legoclub-day! And I will do some shamless historica promotion @soccerkid6: I like that you can see that eye from the front or side and it adds a splash of colour. @Ecclesiastes: how do you build on the go? Do you take all your supplies with you? (I want to see if you do!)
Ecclesiastes Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) @Ecclesiastes: how do you build on the go? Do you take all your supplies with you? (I want to see if you do!) No, just putting all the parts together. Because of the transportation I will have to build it up again at the event wink: This is how it looked like: Me and my mocs Ofcourse some promotion! Z, I just copied your guilds sign! I've had a lot of visitors Edited July 15, 2012 by Ecclesiastes
soccerkid6 Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) @Ecclesiastes: Impressive display Great to see all the sig figs , do you have any other pics of the Ondylion display? I would love to see it all hooked together Edited July 15, 2012 by soccerkid6
Cara Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 @Jacob Nion: I like your ferry boat, nice shape to the hull without using curves. I hope to see it in a MOC! And your winery is great, I love the little details there. @darkdragon : Thank you for taking all our sigfigs to Brickworld. The throne rooms look awesome! @Blaze: I like that Earth Elemental. The bionicle shield on his arm looks great and it really makes me want to see the MOC its in @Ecclesiastes: Ondylion looks great all linked together in one MOC. Thats very impressive display.
Siercon and Coral Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Me and my mocs Fabulous! Really nice to see a bunch of great builds by one person in one place. Great job! Now were just praying that the transportation of the Faerie Forest won't be a failure for us lol... I never knew how scary traveling could be until we got into conventions...
ZCerberus Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Ofcourse some promotion! Z, I just copied your guilds sign! Looks good! I would love to see a picture of the back of the gatehouse/wall to see the action there. The sign for BW was actually made by rogueang. He ran out to a PAB wall and got the bricks for us. We certainly need a bigger GoH table next year at BW 2013. My Midwestern American friends-- we need to plan something far more grand for BW 2013! We also need a nice info sign like Ecc had here.

Can't wait!

soccerkid6 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 My Challenge IV entry is up! Topic here: link Also Sir Glorfindel's town is officially named Daydelon
Cara Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Its a great build! But my first thought was where is the microscale background? The picture above is the one that shows it best and I can see the depth in that shot But the one with all the poeple walking along the bottom of the rock made me think of a rocky wall and not a microscale mountain range. I wonder if the microscale could match the detail of the castle portion. I do like it! Just the castle is so good the rock is noticable to me.

I tried to portray it in full scale at the bottom then it shrinks to micro-scale as the path goes up. Because of the size limit I couldn't set it very far back from the rest of the build. I'm not quite sure what you mean by changing it so it matches the castle portion better, could you expound a little? Thanks for your thoughts

Thanks for your thoughts Edit: I meant that there was a lot of detail on your castle but not so much on the micro portion. Or so I thought so at first read! I saw the building at the top but I didnt see the path up to it. I fully understand the 48x48 limitation - urg never realised it would be so hard to build something in that seemingly big a space until this event. So the expounding part :P (which may be totally unnecessary now I see the path - though I would suggest changing the path to be light grey) maybe have white 1x1 tile or cheese on top of some of the grey further down? There wouldn't only be snow at the very very top. There would be smallers hills in front of the larger ones behind. If some inverted V shapes or hill tops could be delined with some white that might give a bit more depth. Or is there any fauna on the hills? Telescopes with an upside down three pronged flower stalk make mini pine trees (a la Siercon and Coral). PMed two pictures to illustrate. Edited July 23, 2012 by Cara

Thanks so much, especially for the quick reply, now I can modify it a little and still have time Edit: I made some of the changes you suggested, I would have done more but I need to start another build for a different contest. And Glorfindel got some new armor from the dwarves: Edited July 23, 2012 by soccerkid6
Jacob Nion Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Very cool soccerkid! I was very busy last weeks, but at least I will finish the winery. I regret that I didn't have a good idea for an elementary monster =/
soccerkid6 Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Looking forward to your winery The commerce challenge is just about done, I'm pretty excited about all the entries
Cara Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 @soccerkid6: So what other challenge are you working on now that you eluded to in your entry post? I decided to go a little warmer for this fourth challenge and have built a Phoenix. I tried two other elementals before it but was unhappy with them since elemental is not necessarily evil and I didn't want to cross that line into demonic looking. Here is his head only, in the first days before I articulated it some more and then curved out his chest. Now I'm working upon the micro scale element. Wow, how challenging. Its been really fun, but its not something I normally build and I have a picture in my head that I want to create.

I think its going to look really good :D, and I'm glad you didn't go the evil demon root. There's a nice elegance to flame that can still be feared. I guess one question I have for ya is do you have orange cheese wedges? They may look nice with varying background plates to fill in texture (and we would be happy to send you a cup full! :D Shoot us a message if you like :) Also if you're not going for the 'lonely phoenix' approach here are some 'shoulder sized/micro phoenix's we've made that could imply multiple phoenix's in the distance over your micro portion. (totally not trying to promote our own stuff, sorry!) Either way, you obviously have an awesome MOC planned for this challenge. We are greatly looking forward to it :D Edited July 24, 2012 by Siercon and Coral
Cara Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 There could be some tiny friends in his future... we will have to see, because he dominates the build so I do not want smaller ones further forward than he is and I may not have the room to put them flying in the sky further back, which is where I would put them if I could.

It's not GoH related unfortunately, but I don't think it will take me long then I can do some more builds for Mitgardia Great work on your phoenix! Looking forward to seeing you finished entry
Sirens-of-Titan Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 Hello guys, long time no chat. With challenge 4 right around the corner I hope those of you who are participating are close to finishing up and finalizing your builds. Let's get the top spot in this round; we did it in challenge 1, we can once again do it in challenge 4.
