Brickington Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I'll have you know cheese is something mitgardians do right! nearly as good as ours! one of the only things but anyway... what do you have against cheese? Apparently you aren't American, no offence. But in america cheesy is like a slang word. When I say cheesy it means it's funny, but it's expected, thus it's cheesy. It's kinda hard to explain what I mean, I think I need another American to help me out.

There are no Americans here, just Mitgardians Anyways... I'm making good progress on my Challenge VI build, just started actually putting the "skin" on it after doing the "skeleton"

No im not american, we use cheesy as a slang here in New Zealand too, i was just taking the micky out of it
kabel Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Well, at least one can say that American cheese usually doesn't taste very good! Gee, what was I suffering those years I lived over there ...
Brickington Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 No im not american, we use cheesy as a slang here in New Zealand too, i was just taking the micky out of it Oh ok, lol. I was getting a little confused trying to define it.
Legonardo Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) Well, at least one can say that American cheese usually doesn't taste very good! Gee, what was I suffering those years I lived over there ... heh my mum's maltese so I get loads of home made mediterranean cheeses, european cheeses are hard to get here there aren't many NZ cheeses that I like,. I have yet to try American... Edited February 5, 2013 by Legonardo
kabel Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I don't know anything about kiwi cheese, so I have no opinion on that matter. However, cheese in the US ... you can chase me with that stuff!
gedren_y Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Yeah, Brickington, Kiwis'll do that to ya. kabel, most cheap 'American cheese' is processed cheese-like product. If you want a good American cheese you can't skimp. I have a fondness for Colby-Jack cheese.

If you want good cheese, you got to dig deeper in your wallet.

Legonardo Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 true, but 7 bucks for 150 gr of french brie cheese totally blew my (student) budget at the time. Instead I took my money to the next german deli, which helped to survive ... there is alot of brilliant German goodies unavailable here in NZ, I do miss them dearly, our abode has come to the point we make our own cheese, sausages and brew our own beer, but the things like fruit tea and the schnapps we keep for Schwarzwalderkuchen does run out...
gedren_y Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 What's hard to get here is Mozzerella de Buffola. That's what you need to make real Pizza Marguerita. I'm the cook of the household, but the people I live with are cheese philistines. Lego philistines too.
SkaForHire Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Unexpected turn in conversation! Yes, I agree that there is good cheese to be had in the USA, but you need to pony up for it. Although, I think many French cheeses are overrated and piggyback their reputation from their paired wines.

SkaForHire Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Do you mean subway? Safeway is a grocery store chain in parts of the country, although I have never seen one and I have lived in PA, FL, and TX.
Scarst Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) It's been over a half a year since I last posted mostly been doing University things, not that I did builds, but I figured I'd drop in here before I started posting again. (please resume cheese talk) Edited February 6, 2013 by Scarst
Brickington Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Safeway is a grocery store chain in parts of the country, although I have never seen one and I have lived in PA, FL, and TX. Never heard of it. A German knows more about my country than I do.
Legonardo Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) Never heard of it. A German knows more about my country than I do. Germans know alot... oh and Gluhwine! thats another thing we don't get here in NZ, not that you want it at christmas, its our peak of summer. Edited February 6, 2013 by Legonardo
Infernum Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Ah! What monster of a conversation have I started! Mitgardian cheese is full of fiber. It's what make our beards so thick. Goes good with ale too...
gedren_y Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Ah, I remember Safeway. Haven't seen one here in my part of Florida in ten years. Grocerey stores, alcohol and cheese, all because a Kiwi poked fun at a Yank's idiom. Back to GoH: The Nestlands have blue mead, it is a local derivation based on a mead produced in Mitgardia 2200 years ago. The Clans of the Armored Eagle Goddess brought with them all their food and drink secrets when they emmigrated. Mitgardians visiting the Nestlands today should find the food familliar yet distinctive. Lady Ivonova Hierre has enjoyed our fare.
Legonardo Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Grocerey stores, alcohol and cheese, all because a Kiwi poked fun at a Yank's idiom. problem? in the words of someone else, (maybe berry?) "this forum would be boring as hell if all we talked about was lego..." but yeah lets get back to it!
Infernum Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Eh, I didn't photograph my garden MOC today, but I went to the lego store for the free mini-build. I also filled up a pick-a-brick box I got for Christmas. It was awesome. Lots of great pieces. Mainly to help with my Cedrica Gate MOC for Challenge VI.
