Ecclesiastes Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I must say a very lively conversation. But about the cheese... No one can make better cheese than the Dutch! And about the beers, Belgium beers are indeed excellent, altough my all time favorite is the German Franziskaner! Nice wips everyone. Here is one if mine:
Legonardo Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 As a teetotaler, I don't care who has the best beer, but chocolate is another story. Are we just talking about sweet chocolate, or can I mention spicy Mexican chocolate? The original chokalotl drink was spicy, not sweet. It was the Europeans that added sugar. I have been known to eat a bar of semi-sweet chocolate with spicy chips. Who has the best citrus chocolate? chili chocolate is great, my preference is dark chocolate (70-90%) so im noot huge on the whole sugar, it is good to have some sweat stuff every now and again.
Kai NRG Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Very good looking WIP Ecc! Can't wait to see it finished! Love all the wall details so far! I'm with Legonardo, dark chocolate is the best though there are some nice and creamy milk chocolates too... On the subject, funny how the Mitgardian thread has turned into what-kind-do-you-like-best food thread,,,
Garmadon Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Sorry I hav'nt posted this, build I've been gone for the last week more or less. Anyhow, here's my garden entry: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=79266#entry1512133
soccerkid6 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 @Ecc: Looks great! Is it one of the gates to Valholl? I think my second build will be finished before Thursday, but I had to order some part so it may be later
SkaForHire Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Nice job Ecc!!! Also, I really like that pose Kabel, that guy may have had too much German (Dutch? Belgium? English? Miller Light?) beer.
kabel Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 actually he had a bit too much varlyrian beer @eccles: impressive!! As for beer, ain't nothing better than Augustiner from Munich, though Franziskaner is pretty good too! @sk: couldn't be Valholl as it doesn't fit the wall standard, I'd suspect that it is Cedrica @all: the food talk is part of our cross cultural exchange programm we are all going through here at EB!
Infernum Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Hey guys! I'm about to go to the lego store and I've got a question. I can get the Winter Village Cottage (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Winter-Village-Cottage-10229) for 60$. Should I get it? It's 1500 pieces. Or I could get 2 Uruk-hai Armies. I'm leaning towards the Cottage, but what do you think?
kabel Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 that depends on what you'd like to build: castles and armies: urukay army, civilian buildings: cottage!
soccerkid6 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 What kabel said Though you get about twice as many parts with the cottage, plus snow pieces
Infernum Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 What kabel said Though you get about twice as many parts with the cottage, plus snow pieces That's what I was thinking. Plus the Cottage is on clearance. I might go for the Army when it goes on clearence. Thanks guys! I'm thinking I'll go with the Cottage.
Captain Settle Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I'd go for the cottage, but to be fair I've only built on castle/Fortress build and that was a vignette. I mostly like expanding my village. Plus your Mitgardian so you need the snow. But like kabel said, it depends what you like to build. Actually, I might build a small fortress soon...
Sigolf Brimabane Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 It feels a little funny that the capitol is called Valhöll (hall of the chosen/fallen/slain) haha x) Man I wish Sweden had more famous beer x) I really like the Swedish beers Falcon, Åbro and Mariestad though... As for cheese we just put it on our smörgås (buttergoose = sandwich) haha x) I had a very nice smoked bock yule brew from Iceland, it was called Jólabjór (Yule beer)... Eh as for LEGO... I hope I get some inspiration (and more parts) so I can build something... I just built a house out of my new MMV :) And the recent WIPs look nice! Kabel's tavern looks cosy, Sigólfr will have to visit it some time and have a few horns of mead and ale in good Mitgardian company :)
Simon_S Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I'm working on my last build of four, for part one of the backgroundstory of my character... I might finish it this evening or tomorrow .
soccerkid6 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 @Buurli: Looking forward to seeing them! I'll be taking pics of "baseplate with figs" this afternoon, it will be part of my Challenge VI entry. And I've got the story all planned out
Captain Settle Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Baseplate with figs? Can't Wait! Although knowing you, you would probably still make it great.
Simon_S Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Baseplate with figs? Can't Wait! Although knowing you, you would probably still make it great. The first 3 builds are already online
Captain Settle Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Fantastic builds! Love the roof on the first MOC, although I'll save the rest of the comments for the respective threads.
Sigolf Brimabane Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I have finally thought of something good! :D As some of you might know I am writing a lay, namely The Lay of Sigolf (Kvädet om Sigolf). So I might make a couple of small builds illustrating scenes from it and with a verse or two in Swedish (maybe with a little English "omkväde" thereto) to go along with it. It will count as backstory for Sigólfr :)
soccerkid6 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 My "baseplate with figs" is up: Topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=78302&st=0
Simon_S Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Chapter one is finished: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=79583
Ecclesiastes Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 actually he had a bit too much varlyrian beer @eccles: impressive!! As for beer, ain't nothing better than Augustiner from Munich, though Franziskaner is pretty good too! I will try Augustiner at the Eurbricks Event! Great to see so much activity guys. Let's keep it up this way. About my wip. No one guessed right so you all have to wait for the result I'll be away for a week. I'll be in Austria skiing. As for the garden challenge, I will get back to that when I return. For now there are two things you could build if you're out of ideas: Title challenges:(Yes it's the same idea as the Avalonians, but I love to steel ideas when it can lead to victory ) If you complete the next challenges you'll be rewarded with a title that comes with it. Knight of Valholl Wounded contestants, beautifull ladies, beer and much more. Organize a joust and show us something to cheer for!(minimum 32x32) Mason Teacher Trhoughout Mitgardia there are a lot of statues. Each with its own story. Show us your statue with its story!(minimum 12x12) http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=79643
Infernum Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Cool challenges! When's the deadline? Here's a picture of my first build for challenge VI. It's mostly complete, so I want to hear your input! Sorry that the photo is bad.
soccerkid6 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 @Ecc: Cool challenges, hopefully I'll be able to enter @Infernum: Looking good, I like the dark red incorporated How would they raise the portcullis though?
Brickington Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 See when you can't beat them, copy them. Ecc nice trying to copy the best guild!
