TheLegoDr Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 I love using plates to build things. It adds a lot to texture the landscape. I wish my PAB had some more plates. I bought tons of red-brown tiles though, so that helps.
kabel Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) sk, good to see you back, hope that hangover isn't too heavy. Five straight days of dinking is something I coulndn't do anmymore. As for the brown 2*1 plates, I've run out of them contstructing my carrack ... Edited February 24, 2013 by kabel
Sir Edwyn Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I am proud to announce that Sir Edwyn has agreed to join the forces of Mitgardia! Sir Edwyn, also known as the storm-bringer, or the star-chaser, is a young warrior who is privileged to be the captain of the royal guard. (Can I do that? If not I will change it ) He leads an elite group of archers and spearman who have all trained extensively for the day that they may have to protect the Jarl. Having been abandoned as a child in the northern reaches of the Kingdom, he was forced to live off the land for the majority of his youth until he was found by a group of explorers and taken under the wing of Sven Kolorikson. This brave man took Sir Edwyn as his apprentice and instilled in him all of the great skills that he now possesses. Rumor has it that He has a long lost relative by the same name who dwells in a foreign land... Now down to business: First of all, greetings to all of my new fellow members, I am honored to be joining this guild! I have a free build coming up, I just need to wait for two BL orders to arrive. Can anyone tell me what contests are currently running that I can enter in the mean time? Thanks!
soccerkid6 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 @Sir Edwyn: It's great to have you! As for the current contests there are quite a few: first challenge VI the details of which can be found here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62242 two minichallenges with the deadline of February 28th at the bottom of this page: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62105&st=1700 two minichallenges are towards the bottom of this page: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62105&st=1875 and the Walls of Valholl community project (Valholl is Mitgardia's capital city): http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72986 The only one of those that you can win LEGO from is Challenge VI, you can win titles from the others.
Brickington Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Welcome to GoH! But to me, those knights look like they have sand green arms, not bright green.
Legonardo Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I only saw the number of bamboo leaves you got, nice haul I got 626 bamboo leaves, 101 yellow flowers, and a ton of reddish brown plates as well as other useful pieces from the PaB wall: *snip* nice haul! How can that many reddish brown bricks be useful? why would you even ask that? Welcome to GoH! But to me, those knights look like they have sand green arms, not bright green. so? its a cool color you confuse me sometimes....
Brickington Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 why would you even ask that? so? its a cool color you confuse me sometimes.... First, I asked that because I have so many and I don't know how to use them. To answer the second question, my eyes are bad, but I thought it looks more like the Avalonian green rather than Mitgardian,
PenPlays Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Reddish brown plates are the dirt of Historica. Underneath every blade of grass, every snowflake, and waaay beneath the sand is soil. Without any reddish-brown plates, there is nothing underneath the earth, and thus, no earth. Avalonia especially needs reddish brown plates because of this, not to mention for different wood techniques.
Sir Edwyn Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Thank you soccerkid, I shall have to see. As for the sand green arms, so sue me. I like how these look and besides, these are elite troops here. Allow me to take the creative liberty of giving them unique colors. Honestly, the first thing I expected as a welcome is not "you have the wrong color arms." I'm sure my Mitgardia builds won't be impeded by having a different hue of green.

SkaForHire Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 To try to defuse the situation... I think he was jesting that you should join Avalonia. Also, there are no official uniforms or reserved colors in GoH -- just the flags. I think Avalonia has an official army fig though...
Legonardo Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I think Avalonia has an official army fig though... No we don't yet most avalonians use the same guys, unlike Kaliphlites that have lion nights, castle nights, old dragons, black falcons along with many other usable guys, we only have dragon nights and a few torsos without a specific color. there others that are rare, like rouges epic elf army but yeah, we're constricted.
kabel Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Welcome Sir Edwyn, it's good to have new builders in this guild, as there are only few people who last longer than three or four builds. Currently we Mitgardians are down to three who've hung around here since the beginning and only a hand full of those joining later are still around. So in short, new blood is always in want! And congratulations on joining the best guild! @Brickington: With three unfinished project sitting on my desk I'm so out of red brown. Kinda odd to hear that you could have too many!
Kai NRG Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) Red brown is always useful, Brickington! Especially in Avalonia where wood is such a staple! Even though I'm not Mitgardian, welcome Sir Edwin, Mitgardia does need new blood or we'll really leave it in the dust with this challenge... Edit: Mitgardia does have a couple members though who have a tendency to build and not talk: Garmadon, Torgar, Cara (she did say she might not do this next challenge). I've got 13 listed members that have been active recently enough (not including Sir Edwin). Nocturnus only has three or so (and of those, Lord Vladivius is the only one who's built recently), Kaliphlin has eight (and still beating you!) plus Si-MOCs, Gabe, and Erynlasgalen (but none of those have been building lately), and Avalonia has around 13 too (but a few of those are fairly new still, Disco, Brickington, etc.). So what are you Mitgardians complaning about? 13 not enough to hold your spot as third? Edited February 25, 2013 by Kai NRG
soccerkid6 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 @Kai NRG: Who complained? Cara did say she probably wouldn't enter, Torgar hasn't said anything and last time he let us know he was building, not sure about Garmadon. Ecclesiastes may not be able to enter because he's the guild leader now (really hoping he still can). I would also like to point out that it's much easier to hold a lead than catch up and we did gain on you last challenge

I was pointing that out. I thought you might not have known the color of the Mitgardian guild. Sorry if I offended anybody. I think he was jesting that you should join Avalonia. I hate to say it, but that's kinda true. @Brickington: With three unfinished project sitting on my desk I'm so out of red brown. Kinda odd to hear that you could have too many! I'm no the most creative guy, so I always thought they could only be used as wood. Edited February 25, 2013 by Brickington

I've been pretty busy lately (I recently got married), so I havent really been keeping up with commenting on all the new builds (I'm pretty lously at commenting anyways). I almost have my first build done, and I have a few others planned. I just hope I can finish! Welcome to the guild Sir Edwin!
kabel Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I always thought they could only be used as wood. but that's the point, brigdes, houses, boats, fences ... everything eats into the red brown bricks. Personally I think after the bleys, it's the third most important color for castle mocers!

Personally I think after the bleys, it's the third most important color for castle mocers! For my ground, I prefer to use the dark tan color. But I think many of you would beg to differ.

I will be whipping up some entries for those mini Challenges, but as I am participating in the 2013 MocAthalon, I'm afraid, i won't be entering challenge VI.
Garmadon Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) Well, I'll try to enter challenge VI (that means I almost definately will ) and, well, I don't talk that little, do I? Ha, ha, well, I'm rather busy just now, but I'll try to enter the Trade/economy Titans title challenge sometime soon (a.k.a., before the deadline, at least I hope so ) Edited February 25, 2013 by Garmadon

Kai NRG Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 How did you come up with that number? Guilds of Historica Character Location and Facts - since I'm updating it, it's easy to remember who's been busy...
Rogue Angel Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Congratulations Torgar! Also glad to hear you are building for CH VI
