I like the way you made the grate. I know you said you were lacking dark green but looking at the WIP I keep thinking the green and brown should be reversed as it would be brown banks and green fields as the river is dry.

I'm loving this, and I'd have to agree with Cara, reverse the green and the brown. Other than that, perfect!

Well, thanks for the suggestion, but, first, I don't thin that I have enough dark green for that (as Cara said), but also, the river isn't dry because (I suppose) the great lake behind it ran out of water, because if that had happened, the hands of corruption in the city (Cedrica, FYI) would have gaurded the entrance of the river to the city.

The Idea was that the Mitgardian soldiers, or whoever was besieging the city had dug out a bypass to the city and had a dam to stop the water from going down the bypass till it was done, then, that night they broke the dam and all the water went into the bypass, leaving the river dry, or pretty much dry. so close to the river would be green, because it wasn't dried up until that night.

If you think that this is not very realistic, read up on Cyrus the Persians taking of Babylon. (All credit goes to him for the idea, all rights reserved, copyright, BC 539 :wink: )

If the river was so recently emptied out, you really should have some mud/puddles/slime stuff on the sides and/or the floor. Part of the thing though with the Dk Green and brown is that even if the green would naturally be growing next to the river's edge, it wouldn't be lower than the dirt/mud. Some bamboo leaves/stalks might rectify that though.

I love the idea that they diverted the river. If you can convey that in the still wet/muddy or rock pool bottom of the river then it will really pop visually.

I'm happy to announce that I scraped the 500 € together and finally got myself a decent camera!

But, but, that's 500E you could have spent on lego :look: I guess it is important to be able to share what you make though. hehe.

well, if you take a look at my mocs, it's usually the photography that seems odd, not the mocs themselves. At least that's what I think. Why else would I never earn a single point in any kind of public voting? So I really needed a decent camera. Before the digital revolution I used to be an ok slr photographer. With this digital piece of crap I got three years ago I tend to suck big time. Now I finally got myself a dslr and I hope to make good photos again!

BTW, here is a little wip of my one of my challenge VI entries:

That is what I like to think as well. Is that photo taken with your new camera? Because that photo quality is stunning.

Thanks, that would be great! I hope you have enough information for making it! If not, pm me! I don't think I have mentioned the color of the spear, that is dark grey, from the dragon knights of kingdoms. The warg is not a big deal, it can be a horse too.

When I have a camera, I will upload a foto, but that would not be before June.

Thanks to the really cold weather, my spies didn't spied in Mitgardia for a whole month.

They had a lot of work to become up to date again

Anyway, already a lot really nice WIP's I see here! Can't wait until I can start building for ChVI (I got two weeks holiday starting tomorrow, but I can only start building in the last week of my holiday  )

Also welcome to Historica for the freshly new joined members in this Guild. One of the best things you can do at the moment is to go to Stoneroda (one of the bigger cities of Mitgardia) and give my embassador some gifts (he is called Embassador Nohr Mahn and lives in this house: link). If you do, the moment I become Emperor of Historica, I will not punish you for living in the wrong Guild

It appears that the magic Victor is using in the vicinity of the The Fortress of Mizia is draining the landscape of life. All vegetation is dead or decaying and there is little to no wood available for large seige engines. Other options have to be found. In an attempt to find a different way of waging war, I researched the techniques of our new neighbour, Varlyrio. Vague stories repeated by traders to the Inland Sea suggest that the minotaurs who live in that region have enormous beasts that live near what little water remains there. These beasts can travel by land or water, armoured with a hard shell carapice they form formidable war engines when outfitted with artillery. It is to be hoped, that as the minotaurs hire themselves out as guards and mercenaries, so may we be able to hire them and their beasts for our seige.

That is a very creative solution, for the lack of wood.

so many builds to look at. it makes my fingers tingle again, to start building. but the lack of room holds me back again

Cara, Garmadon, looking good!

Kabel, your photo is noticeably better! recently my dad got an olympus OMD with the macro lense, I've only had a few shots with it but the difference between a $100 camera and camera of the year is phenomenal :oh:

Not sure about the colors yet, but the shape is absolutely stunning!

Vignettes do not need a lot of room

Here's a teaser for challenge 6. I just finished my first chapter!

Yes I wrote about the colours on flickr but not on here. I have to obtain some pieces. When I build these brick built creatures they always start of shades of grey with black since I find those colours have the greatest variety of pieces.

I'm thinking of going dark grey for the legs, although right now they look good standing out (I hadnt wanted this build to have any normal green in it at all, all the vegetation is going brown/grey/olive/dark green maybe if I can manage it). I need olive green bottom of the shell 4x4 wedge pieces, then the top where its light grey currently was going to go reddish brown and dark red. However reddish brown 2x3 wing plates are expensive so back up plan would be dark tan, but it wouldnt pop as much :( The red tone would look great with the olive green I think. Suggestions welcome!

Yes that tower is great, it looks extremely sturdy and seige-worthy. I am working on one at the moment and fiddling around with ways to cover the sides.

Why are there orcs side by side with knights? Or was that just for the photo. I guess that's why it's a teaser!

Looking good, can't wait to read the story line that you bring with rhis build

i know, but i need also room to stall my bricks before i can start building again.

i've been working on the cellar under my house, when that is finishd, i will have 12m2 room for my bricks and my builds. now only 1m2 in the storage room.

i've tried ldd but its just not my thing, i need real bricks to get the inspiration.

but i love to see al your builds and of course also of all the members of this forum.
