Great SK! I did the same thing about a year ago! That's where about 70% of my system pieces are from. I got it all for like $10 too! :sweet:

Can't wait to see pics. :classic:

Do you have any methods for yards sales? Do you go often looking for stuff, or did you just got lucky? I just kinda got lucky.

NIce Score!!!!

I can never find Lego at garage sales, if people sell their's it seems to be the stuff that is snatched up at 6:00am when the sale starts.

Jeez you guys are doing well! your going harder than Avalonia

this process of getting everything sorted for moving houses and the load of homework has my building slowed dramatically.so enjoy your glory days while they last... (sadly I don't think Il have real lego time till the end of june/beginning of july :cry_sad: )

woah thats a sweet haul! thats like the size of my collection

40 pounds? How much did you pay for it? In my neighbourhood there are no garage sales :cry_sad: , but on the internet there are some sites, but they are really expensive for 4 kilo Lego. 4 kilo is I guess 10 pounds? So, if I am correct, you had to pay a fortune. I look forward to see the pics.

Will have pictures up later today, as for yard sales, this is my first significant find, and I don't really have a method.

Forty pounds? Man, that would probably triple my collection. And take me forever to sort...

Got about 39.5 pounds of it sorted yesterday, my boxes are all of a sudden getting very full :look:

One of my brothers spotted the ad for this yardsale and it said there were thousands of LEGO bricks, so he gave me a call and told me when it started. I got there within five minutes of when the sale began, the people who sold it actually only live about 1 mile away :classic:

Sorry to hear you won't have much building time til then, will be worth it though

Yeah, I think I probably had 70-90 pounds before this, but the majority of that was yellow/white/black/blue/red. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of bley/dark bley/tan in this tub :classic:

40$ I probably could have gotten it significantly cheaper, but it was a kid selling it and we know the family :classic:

That is indeed not so much, $1 per pound, that is cheap. I live in the Netherlands, and Marktplaats.nl is a website, and if you search bulk Lego, you have to pay a lot. You must be very happy.

I am quite pleased with the find, it's all sorted now too, will post pics in a couple of hours :classic:

Born a simple farmer, he always dreamed of adventure. when he grew up his parents died and left him a mysterious chest, when he opened it, not only did he find gold, but also a note that read: Son, by the time you read this I will be gone, this gold is for you and so is the helm and this sword, they once belonged to me, when I lead my troops into battle.... The helm was silver and gold, and the sword of the finest steel in the land. With that he set off, with the gold he brought some armor, and a small castle, on the way he met 7 men, who fought with his father...

Welcome to Mitgardia, Legofin2012! Cool introduction and figs

Well here are some pics of the find:

The tub that it all came in, it was full enough that the raised baseplates wouldn't fit inside:

Some of the coolest pieces:

black slopes, including corner slopes and other special slopes:

raised baseplates with dark red plates (mainly 1x2, about 30) and dark bley tiles (mainly 2x2):

baseplates.JPG

grey/bley: there were a ton of slopes, quite a few inverted slopes, some arches, headlight bricks, and other cool pieces:

a fair bit of sand green, as well as some animals and animal accesories:

s-green.JPG

minifigs and their accesories, only castle related stuff is in the picture, got quite a few more green arms as well as capes  :

There were lots of grey/bley, dark grey/bley bricks and plates as well. Was excited to get quite a few 1x2 bricks in bley.

There was also a fair bit of tan and most of this set:

Unfortunately the actual dragon wasn't in it :hmpf_bad: his wings were though

Finlay: So what do you think of the castle?

Kyle: Very nice, the Orcs will have trouble getting in here...

Finlay: Well I hope we won't have to deal with them to soon..., at least until we have a few more men...

Kyle: Agreed, with 7 men, well'd lose most of them... and what about them docks?

Finlay: Turns out there's a trapdoor in my room leading down a tunnel out off the cliff to the docks, impossible to see from the cliff!

Kyle: Interesting, could be useful...

Finlay: Indeed...

@Strongbad: Sorry, but in this case I cant help you :sceptic:

Thanks for trying. :sweet: I gave up on it too.

Welcome to Mitgardia Legofin!!

Soccerkid, that is a nice haul; all those green arms and capes!

I need some help figuring out how to approach putting a waterfall/mountain stream into my WIP. I have almost no blue or trans-clear pieces so I will have to make an order or two but I'd like to have some idea of what I am doing before I start loading random pieces in my cart. Suggestions about any of the build but particularly the water, and even good examples for me to study would be very much appreciated. Thanks! :sweet:

@SK: Well, there are a lot of usefull pieces, I saw a lot of capes, and light green arms, so you can make more Mitgardia soldiers. I am looking forward to see what you are going to build with it.

@Legofin2012: Welcome, your Moc looks great!

@Strongbad: This technique might work pretty well there:

Or this:

Or you could do SNOT 1x2 trans clear plates so that the water fall looks like the stream above except upright :classic:

@SK, those are some nice pieces! Quite a lot of light bley there!

Yeah, and all the normal bricks/plates aren't even pictured, I think I got around 100 1x2 bricks plus lots of other assorted bricks/plates. I had to shift around how I store quite a few pieces as they no longer fit in their old containers. I even got the dress that Elon's wife wears
