Yes, I think we would have to wait to start the project until after June. I am in for sure, but I also have a lot of writing for my PhD this summer, so after we hit the end of the June deadline, I will be here reading and writing on the boards, but won't be able to build much beyond what I have already committed to.

I kind of assume this was one of us, since we are largely responsible for wiki content, but whoever is the administer that changed the color palette should probably change links to show up as something other than black, as you can't distinguish them from normal text now.

Wow. That's bad. I'll see if I can find out where this change came from.

Edit: I discovered the admin is someone named "Mikel Kalores". I don't know who the person is, but they seem to be making many changes to the wiki today, however I don't know why he changed the overall color of the wiki site.

Edit, Edit: Ok, the admin is Masa of Kaliphlin though I don't know why he changed the site color all together.

About the wiki: masa will change it soon when he discovered that the links arent easily visible anymore :)

About the city: I think I kinda lost track of the direction everyone is wanting to head :p

Kayne made a MOC about the Great Escarpment a while ago:

The Great Escarpment

So I would say we use this as basic highth? :classic:

Also, I finished my exams yesterday (   ) and when walking home tonight (a little bit drunk :look: ), I saw an information panel with lot of pictures about Aragon (Spain).

And honestley, I think that region is just the perfect source of inspiration for our new city!

Some pictures of Aragon:

ca_aragon_im_02.jpg

aragon.jpg

aragon-1.jpg

(note, before the Great Escarpment, there is a lot of steppes, behind it, it is mostly only desert)

aragon-sprookjeslandschappen-van-los-mallos-nieuw-spanje-T.jpg

and thanks to google, I also saw this fine castle on an Escarpment:

5872936219_8a1f0f4c59_z.jpg

ofcourse we will do it without all those trees

To get on top of the Escarpment, the traders and horses will have to follow a small path (partly natural, partly mined) in the rocks that leads to the Gate on top.

On the highest point of the area, there is a big and old castle (where there is a restoration process going on). Between that castle and the gate, there are houses and market places :classic:

If we go for this, we can make the map after we build some houses, the gate, (a part of) the castle and.... . :classic:

I think (reading everyone's opinion) this can satisfy most people :classic:

I thought everyone had forgotten about my Great Escarpment build! It was so fun to build, but now after the GoH experience I could have done so much better! Anyways, I like the idea of the Aragon as an inspiration...it looks fantastic!

Yikes! That wall is huge... do we really have to go that high (there's no way I could!)? Wasn't this supposed to be a low spot in the Escarpment?!

As far as a map/pattern since we're Kaliphlin I like the suggestion of leaving it pretty open at least until we've got a few builds.

I feel that it was, because my tower build was also on the escarpment, and utilized forced perspective to show a much higher escarpment. I think NM may have mentioned at one time that parts of the escarpment are over 1 mile high.

Also on Kayne's MOC, is that actually the top, or does it just represent where the rock turns tan again? I interpreted as the rock face continues up from there, but building that would be time consuming. But we still have Kayne, so he can clarify! haha.

@Kai: you only have to build this high if you want too :classic:

You can for example build only a part of the Escarpment (the upperlayer) and put your house or tower on that :classic: Also, you won't have to build the Escarpment for every house, some houses will be a few metres away from the cliff :classic:

Indeed very inspirational pics DM! Unfortunately I will not be building any part of the city for some time. My build time will be consumed by homebase and Ska's story arch.

As for the wikia, please read the community portal concerning the changes.

After the castle in Barqa was destroyed by the elementals, Gaius Kaleci, Mikel's trusted liegeman, moved the Kalores estate to a small outpost on Gorr. It is rumored that a large construction is presently being built there.

So I am officially moving from Barqa to Aden's Gate.

Nice job! Will comment more tomorrow when not so sleepy.

On another note, I accidentally opened a Series 10 (I got tired of feeling them for Mr. Gold a long time ago, and really just grab 5 at random whenever I see them) and it was Mr. Gold. Has anyone else found one? What would you do with a semi-opened Mr. Gold (I have not opened the little plastic bag yet)? I am tempted to MOC with him, but someone said these things are stupid expensive. I can think of a lot of fun stuff to do with those gold parts though in Kaliphlin MOCs.

They are selling for over $500 on ebay regularly. I can think of a lot of fun things to do with $500.

Wow, congratz!!!

I would not sell them, but keep him as a trofee (and sometimes MOC with him).

But then again, with 500 bucks, there are indeed a lot of things you can do

Congratulations Ska!!

If I had found it I would probably keep it and make some MOCs with it...but maybe sell it later, as I guess it will keep it's value quite nice

Having been able to use such a rare fig in some MOCs would totally be worth the lost $ between mint condition and excellent (as at least I would be very careful to not scratch it) used condition.

Wow! I would sell it eventually, but as Gideon said you could use it a few times first if you want
