There is the GFLUG about an hour from me but I got no response back from them. Maybe I will try again....

Wait! Do you mean the Greater Florida LUG? You live near them? Lucky!

I live too far away to have regular transport for the required meetings (I don't drive). I would join if circumstances allowed it.

My Lego budget for the rest of the year has just been nearly decimated due to replacing our air conditioner. Florida in the summer, had to have it.

I didn't know we had so many Floridians in the guild. Any of you near Orlando? I will be honeymooning down there in middle December, and I think we are renting a car so it would be cool to meet up.

Back to the Lugs, I think the rules are supposed to stay on the down-low, and you have to be an active participant of the Lug anyway. Which kills it for me, because I teach on Saturdays, and that is when my local lug has its meetings.

I don't know about how American LUGs operate, but ours is mostly online-based since we are spread out all over the country. But of course we get together for some events (like our annual exhibition local mini-meets and of course sorting the LUGBULK) but those are also arranged through the forum.

Alright, I managed to get my LEGO stuff to campus, hopefully I can get those two community builds done this week.

Good job! My dark age really started when I moved away to study...

So you have some space for the bricks there then? :classic:

Yes, fairly close depending on time of day... :sceptic: Traffic can be pretty slow... You can tell I'm not a city guy.

Wow. I hadn't realized this, but as I'm reading through tons of posts trying to catch up, it became apparent that I hadn't really been reading GoH (and EB) since mid-March. So I've got a zillion posts to read. I'll probably comment on some stuff in this thread so I don't bump a bunch of old posts just to say "great job".

Speaking of great jobs... Big kudos to the Inside Kaliphlin team! That was just a fabulous effort! Great job to everyone involved, and especially to Kai, whom I think organized it all. I will try and get some of those new locations onto the next version of the maps, which are way overdue, btw.

And some big kudos to Ska for his epic Battle of Queenscross thread! That looked like it took some major work and time, although I bet it was a lot of fun.

Now back to reading all these posts... Anyone care to point me at some of the highlights of the past few months? And who won the final challenge?

@nm:

The highlights I found interesting were an almost civil war in avalonia and the county of zakon that became a free state.

Also the marriage of my sigfig with the daughter mattiusxavier, combining our powers. That happened in Mpya Stedor and there were almost 100 sigfigs presented (gex marmota as well). Just click on my signature too see that post :p

And zcerbus won the last challenge :)

Well, I've finally read through the full Kaliphlin Guild thread! Only about a million other posts to read...

@runmymouth: My character lives in Messahmuk, and has been the only one building there so far. He doesn't "rule" the city, although he is on the Council of Elders or something. You're welcome to place your character there too, or claim an open city (Ras-El-Akhen springs to mind as a good candidate if you like swampy New Orleans-style locations...), or build a new city.

Congrats on the nuptials! Thanks for including me. I saw the large group photo, but will have to go back and spot myself. 100 sigfigs! That's amazing.

ZC won the challenge? I thought the guild leaders weren't eligible to win?

Can someone point me at a post with info about "Book II" of GoH? It's referenced quite a bit in the Kali post.

Posted

ZC was a "pseudo" guild leader... doing the work but didn't have the title. It seemed unfair for Avalonia to lose a major builder when pressed into service when the real world caught up to DC. Ecc was also pseudo leader and his entry was second or third in the voting. As always ZC did NOT take the individual prize since he was pseudo leader.

As for Book II... start here...

So the Master Architect Challenge counted here? :classic:

Well, I bumped you up because of all the outstanding work with the tour also. I had forgotten about that challenge, I think that means I need to bump Nightstalker to the next category then too, because I think he had a Challenge VI entry.

Geez, I feel like I'm behind in building. I've got 3 builds to start and finish this weekend!

Also, I've only participated in the MAC challenge; I joined after Challenge VI ended.

Nightstalker, I am looking forward to the buildings

I am already a few days busy with Everlast . It will be a nice mix of renovated "Old Classic Castle " and new "Amenori Style" (=> Mostly white mixed with another colour in horizontal stripes. Mpya Stedor has some examples of this) :classic: :classic:

I think the difference with "The Ruins of Everlast" (the original MOC, made around a year ago) will be huge! :classic:

Glad to have you aboard, Lord Drakon!

Welcome to the glorious Kaliphlin guild Lord Drakon!

I am however curious about what your noble title pertains to? :classic:

Out of character: I think you are welcome to found a new city/town/fortress/something else on the Kaliphlin map and proclaim yourself lord of it. In Kaliphlin we generally don't claim distict areas of land like our feudal Avalonian neighbors, but usually more something of a dot on the map. Either closely under the Kaliphlin central authority like for example Barqa where my sigfig is based or more of a free political entity with loyalty to Kaliphlin like Mpya Stedor which is quite independently ruled by Lord DaMaximus.

I do not originally hail from Historica. My father was the lord of a small island kingdom,Magester Mintium. The island was plagued with tremors and tidal waves, threatening to destroy it.The only chance of survival was to flee.Sadly, my family's vessal was pillaged by pirates. They killed my family, and I only survived by chance. The ship drifted for many days and nights, until it ran aground on the Kaphlin coast.I was found by a farmer who brought me to the Peatree Orphanage.I lived there until I was 18,then I was enrolled in Peatrea University. To make a long story short, I call myself Lord to honor the land that is rightfully mine, though it no-longer exists.
