@SK: Yes, she is much better, thank you! Still has some pain as her neck heals, but no more loss of motion or feeling in any limbs. Her mood is also much improved, obviously since she is feeling better.

Oh, that's great. I'm really happy to hear it, best news in the guild in a while. I must remember to invite her to our victory banquet.

The natural arc of my storyline would probably end with Kaliphlin ruling all Historica again (you know, same benign protectorate of peace and freedom we used to have in the Good Old Days). Can't see that as a vote-winner! But no voting this time, right? So maybe I just roll with it?

:classic:

ps by the way, on closer examination of the Ch6 text, I think it says something like,"Dear player, your wizards guarantee immunity for your army, and they are better than Viktor. If you can find him, you have won. You have as many wizards as you want" Easy, no? I know exactly where he is

Sir Gideon the half-elf pledging his allegiance to Lord Dextrus Flagg and Kaliphlin!

May the victory over Revolword be sweet and reward us all with ample opportunities to prosper!

Welcome to Kaliphlin, Gideon!

Robuko - guess I have a tendency to get posts mixed up, I thought you had mentioned voting in the Clarification thread, but rereading this... anyway, there will be voting to determine the official storyline (and yeah, that might not go over big with non-Kaliphlins, but hey, maybe they'll come around and realize that having the best guild on top might be a good idea! Yep, not likely!)

Kayne - great to hear that! Hope you don't have any further complications... and yeah, building with little kids can be tough, I have 6 siblings all younger than I am...

Sir Gideon, you are very welcome to Kaliphlin! May you prosper in peace here

Kai - Thanks for that. Even our magnanimous plan to hand back the peripheral territories to their puppet rulers after victory is unlikely to appeal to the other guilds. Time to think again!

Well, unless we can do some campaigning... or perhaps just get all of our former members to come back and cast a vote... I think we could take over the world again, or at least claim it all after the smoke clears...

To the BL conversation: Yeah, I would have noticed the large difference, in fact that is what made me count it... but I was shocked after I said something along the lines of "I don't think I have ever been shorted pieces." Seller was awesome though, just got the other half today, no hassle at all.

And, welcome to the guild Gideon. I know you said you might not be able to make C6, but I am sure you will be very valuable member of our community -- especially post challenge period while the project is re-imagined.

I have finished my first and third Challenge VI builds, and I'm very close to done with the second (interior), so I will likely be done next week (I do need to write the story. And it did occur to me that I could use my first build as a prelude and build another one...)

Anyway, here is a teaser - it's possible I suppose that I would change the name depending on how the story plays out, but I've already got it fairly well outlined in my mind, so this will probably be it:

You're welcome to speculate on the storyline, I think it will end up pretty unique... (but then don't we all?)

The good news - I have my story. The bad news - very little building time, I'm travelling a lot in March and I have 6 scenes to set up. Expect a slightly different style of build from me, sparsely elegant for the challenge!

One of the many murals in the palaces of Petraea, this one depicting an equestrian hero in some famous or forgotten battle long ago.

Built for another competition, but I figured it seemed Kaliphlin enough in style to be shown here (supposedly I'm a bit inspired to build Kaliphlin style right now)

Nice, Sir Gideon - to me this looks like our dreadful civil war.

@Ska, this extra month means yes to the Warrior! I wanted to make a vig around it but I figured time was too short, now I should be able to send one.

The PGTC is starting to draw down its commodity stockpile, in anticipation of a decisive Victory. This is because we learned something rather interesting from Pharoah Amset Ra....

That extension makes me feel good. I have put a lot of effort into a giant battlefield that can't count towards my entry in the last few weeks. I am hoping some of the individual components can count as free builds though.

Does that mean the free builds period will be extended out to May 31st? (I believe it was April 30th before).

Robuko, You have time, I am still trying to acquire some pieces for other people's soldier. The "send your most trusted soldier" part is actually for the next build I am working on. Also, I am about to call out for actual units / soldiers for the battle of Queenscross. (Sort of like my brother and I did last summer)

@Ska, I don't think there was an actual date for free-build points, just a general "end of April, maybe". Personally, I won't have any trouble making the deadline (the old one, and of course, not the new one either), but I hope we do get some more builds as a result!

Actually though, if we were just talking about guild gold, I'm pretty sure you could get more for three free-builds than for the challenge.

I think ZC said that all free builds would be scored up until those presented after the end of April... but, I could have imagined that.

Bad news... the bridge at Queenscross must have had some true structural flaw, because it just toppled over. I guess that enemy army waiting to take the bride will have to wait longer until I can fix it. I have to get up in a few hours to teach so I have to go to bed instead of fix it, I was hoping to post a teaser.... Dang.

Ska, I hope this isn't too late, but here is a warrior I'd like to send to the coordinates at the end of your letter.

His name is Rothark.

Cool idea! I'm fine if he dies.

Ska, I told you already a long time ago that I would send Lord Max Samu, but I intended to make a scene around that. Haven't had time for that, so you will have to do it with an old picture of him:

Well, the only thing changed in his nowadays armour are the white plumes coming out of the left and right side of his helmet :)

Will do DaMax!

So... here is what I have been working on:

bridge by skaforhire, on Flickr

The great span at Queenscross... except I am out of bricks to make the other tower. So, I am going to assume it was destroyed in the elemental attack there, and is already cleared out by the time the battle happens. I hope to get a final set of pics of it on Wednesday, start a "call to arms" topic about it, and finish up the surrounding terrain (which won't be many special looking buildings, just enough to wargame with) and fight the battle in two weeks. Then... have the whole thing ripped down by the 22nd, finish CVI build 1 and be working on build two by April Fools day.

Another note - originally this was a drawbridge, but I did not have a mechanism that was medieval enough to work it. So many white bricks.... but not enough to fully complete the Bridge!

Looks great! I like the size of the bridge, it truly feels to scale for the minifigs. Appropriate for the most important crossing of the Arkbri River.

I am also working on build situated on the banks of that river (or maybe the Red River), remains to be seen if my build will be up to good enough standards to qualify as a challenge VI entry.

That looks great ska! Shame you don't have enough to finish the second tower, but at least Victor has given us an excuse for that sort of stuff! BTW, who is that talking to the ceaser? Looks almost like the clockwork robot to me...

Gideon, sure hope you can get an entry in! I don't think you'll have much trouble though.

Wow, just checked in after not really being on the forums for the past two weeks -- I am so behind! But very glad to see that the challenge has been extended; didn't think I would make the end of March.

Ska -- I'm sending Growlfarghh the werewolf. I'd prefer if you didn't kill him, although you can beat him up and injure him as much as you want. He's in the picture below; feel free to change his clothes if you need to. He's your typical tough, fierce werewolf with a heart of gold

Looking really great, love large projects like this. And mostly if you ran out of some bricks you often get more creative!

It is actually the cyclops... They got drafted into victor's forces for the upcoming battle. Caesar is just chilling... maybe he could be one of the town leaders of Queenscross.

Awesome, Ska! I wanted to make a warrior scene as well - am in Japan now and I will have a 1-day build window before going to Vietnam next week so it should be possible.

I just found a bunch of MISB dragon and lion knight battle packs at the Tokyo lego shop for 1575 yen. I wan planning an all-mummy army but maybe I should buy some? Any views?
